Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29-year-old
Margaux Malekian of Dobbs Ferry, on 1 count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation,
Unlicensed Operator, Speeding, and Driver’s view obstructed following a traffic
stop in the Village of Delhi. Malekian was released on an appearance ticket and
is scheduled to return to the Delhi Town Court at a later date to answer the
charges.
The Morris fire department was dispatched to the Brian
Madden residence at 287 West Hill Road home at just Monday afternoon.   Mutual aid was provided by from
Gilbertsville, West Laurens, Laurens, Mt. Vision, South New Berlin, New Berlin,
Pittsfield, and Mt. Upton, no injuries were reported, Madden escaped without
injury.
Firefighters responded Monday
afternoon to a fire at 959 County Highway 10 in Laurens.  The fire at the Decker residence was
attributed to a clogged chimney, the Deckers & their dog escaped without
injury, friends & relatives have started a go fund me page to assist the
family.

Governor Cuomo announced a proposal for eliminating the
"Pink Tax" on products aimed specifically for women.  A study in 2015 that analyzed prices of toys,
clothing, personal care products and home health products that were substantially
similar and found that 42% of the time, products targeted towards women are
more expensive than men's.   Women’s
merchandise costs 7% on average more than similar items for men, with personal
care products for women found to be priced 13% higher than men's products.
The Annual free Christmas dinner put on by Gene Schmidt
& his family will be held tomorrow Christmas Day in Sidney.  The dinner will be held at the River Street
Fire Station from 1:00 to 4:00 & it is free to the public.

Starting this Friday, November 1st The Otsego County
Planning Department & Solid Waste, Televisions, monitors, and commercial
grade electronics will be charged at $12 per unit at the Oneonta Transfer
Station.  All other electronics will
remain free.  Officials said that the
change is to help cover rising recycling costs related to electronics, more information
is available at 547-4256.
The New Berlin Art Forum presents the Navy band Commodores
for a free concert Wednesday night at the Unadilla Valley Central School

47-year-old Andrew Menke has died following a Saturday
Afternoon Fire in his 3rd Floor Apartment above the Little Venice Restaurant in
Binghamton over the weekend.  Menke was
discovered in the hallway at 111 Chenango Street, he was taken to Wilson
Medical Center, and He was moved to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.  Fire damage was confined to the third-floor
apartment where the blaze originated. The restaurant sustained some water
damage, but was able to re-open Sunday.
The investigation is continuing.
The American Red Cross is holding a Blood Drive in Sidney
from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, at the Sidney Elks Lodge on River Street.  Appointments can be made at 1 800 red cross

Pharsalia Forest on Sunday September 29th.

The Next Chenango County rabies clinic will be held this
evening in Smyrna.  The clinic will run
from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Smyrna Fire Station, for dogs, cats &
Domesticated Ferrets.
The State DOT will hold a public information meeting on
Tuesday, September 17, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Bainbridge Town Hall, to
provide details about plans to improve the pavement condition on State Route
206 from Case Road in the town of Bainbridge to the bridge over the Susquehanna
River in the village of Bainbridge.   The
meeting will begin with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. followed by a question
and answer session with DOT representatives.
The project is scheduled to begin in the 2020 construction season and
take one and a half seasons to complete.

Ernest Franklin of Guilford was sentenced in Chenango County
Court Monday, to 21 years to life in state prison, for the murder of his
adopted and disabled teen son Jeffrey, and starting a fire at the family home
to cover it up, in February of 2017.
Franklin planned the murder with his wife, Heather Franklin, who
accepted a guilty plea to manslaughter; she has not been sentenced for her role
in the murder.

State Police arrested 36 year old Joshua Brown of West
Monroe, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While
Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers responded to County Road 32 in the town of
North Norwich for a 1-car accident, they located the vehicle in a corn field
with Brown behind the wheel.  Brown was
transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.  An investigation yielded suspected
concentrated cannabis, LSD, mushrooms and Marihuana wax.  Brown was arraigned in the town of Norwich
court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000
property bond.

the Human Resources Roundtable Workshop will take place Thursday, June 13th, in

26-year-old Haylery Rodriguez of Johnson City was issued
tickets Friday for Unlicensed Operator and 7 improper restraint tickets.  State Police responded to the report of a
several children rising unrestrained in a vehicle leaving the Tioga Downs.  A trooper stopped the vehicle on State Route
17 & discovered 12 people in a vehicle that seats 7.  7 children ranging from ages 3 to 11 that
were not in child seats, booster seats or even belted in the vehicle &
Rodriguez was driving with only a learner’s permit and did not have a licensed
driver in the vehicle. The trooper stayed with the vehicle for 2 1/2 hours to
ensure everyone in the vehicle was picked up by a licensed driver with the
proper safety equipment.
The Pennsylvania-New York Joint Interstate Bridge Commission
will conduct its annual meeting today at the Binghamton State Office Building,
44 Hawley Street. The meeting will be held on the 18th floor and scheduled to
begin at 10:00 AM, Representatives from the State DOT and the Pennsylvania DOT
will discuss matters related to the 10 bridges crossing the Delaware River to
Pike and Wayne counties in Pennsylvania.
The meeting is open to the public.
The Chenango County Health Department will hold another Free
Rabies Clinic for Dogs, Cats & Ferrets today.  The Clinic will be held at the Plymouth Fire

Final arguments were being delivered today in Chenango
County Court in the Ernest Franklin murder trial.  Franklin is accused of killing his special
needs son & setting the family home on fire in the town of Guilford in 2017,
watching the movie "Manchester by the Sea" with his wife, which
featured a similar plot.  Heather
Franklin will be tried separately at a later date, also in Chenango County
Court.
33 year old Kevin Begeal of Oxford has been arrested by
Oneonta City Police on Burglary, Grand Larceny & other Charges.  Begeal is accused of breaking into a Chestnut
Street home and stealing two guitars and a television, and he allegedly tried
to sell them to a Norwich Music Store.
International Women’s Day is today, and the Chenango County
Council of the Arts will be hosting a gallery exhibit At the Mareia Brown &
Raymond Loft galleries at 27 West Main Street in Norwich today.  Council Executive director Alecia O'Neill

This year is the 11th Annual Train Show, it is once again
being held at the Binghamton American Legion at 177 Robinson Street.
This Sunday morning at 2:00 AM marks a change in Daylight
savings time, clocks will be turned ahead 1 hour.  Local Fire Departments also remind area
residents to change the batteries in their smoke alarms at that time.
The 2nd Annual Casino Night will be held Saturday night at
the Sidney Elks Lodge on River Street.
The event will be a fundraiser for the Sidney EMS Squad & Delaware
Valley Humane Society.  The event begins
at 6:30 until 10:00 PM, tickets can be purchased at the Barking Cat in Sidney

The Sidney Rotary Club Pancake Day will be held Saturday at
