54 year old Donald Lane of Oneonta, was arrested Sunday for Sex Offender Failure to Update Change of Address following an investigation in to a sex offender failing to abide by restrictions by the State Sex Offender Registry. Lane is a level 2 sex offender, he failed to make the proper notifications regarding an address change, he also had a prior conviction of the failing to update the Sex Offender Registry, he was located in the City of Oneonta by deputies and taken in to custody following a brief foot pursuit, he was lodged him in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to Arraignment.

Troopers were dispatched to the report of children locked inside a hot vehicle and screaming at the Oneonta Walmart parking lot on a 99 degree day. The children were exhibiting signs of distress from the heat, Good Samaritans gave the children water, they were removed from the car and were taken to Fox Hospital & 39 year old Kurtis Carpel of Mount Upton, NY was charged with 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment and 3 counts of Aggravated Driving While Impaired with Child as Passenger after an investigation revealed that he was impaired. Carpel was taken to Otsego County Jail for Centralized Processing and Arraignment.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37 year old Matthew Romano of Unadilla for Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a property damaged motor vehicle accident in the Town of Oneonta. Romano was found to be operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license, he was issued a uniform traffic ticket and taken into custody on a Oneonta City Court Bench Warrant, he was then turned over to Oneonta PD to answer his warrant.

24 year old Zachary Rowe of Harpursville, appeared for arraignment on a 2-count indictment in Delaware County Court. On October 1st, Sidney Police Officer Royce Terry arrested Rowe on a bench warrant, after being taken into custody, Sidney K9 Officer Riggs conducted a search of his personal property, Riggs quickly discovered and indicated the presence of narcotics, Sidney Police obtained a search warrant & seized $7,000.00 in illegal methamphetamine and fentanyl. The indictment charges Rowe with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, he was remanded the defendant to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail.

On May 4th, 2022, 2 arrest warrants were issued by the Walton Town Court, On October 11th Deputies arrested and charged Bennett on both arrest warrants, he was held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.

State Police and Emergency crews responded to a crash on I-88 eastbound in Colesville between exits 5 and 6 yesterday afternoon. An investigation revealed that a pick-up truck was pulling vehicles on a trailer, the operator lost control and rolled the vehicles, blocking both lanes. The city of Oneonta announced plans to close West Street between Chestnut and Center streets for 5 months, for a construction project, starting Monday. The project calls for the replacement of water mains, sewer mains, manholes, catch basins and fire hydrants as well as related infrastructure. SUNY Oneonta will host one of the state’s 10 new COVID-19 community testing sites, which opens today, in the training room of the college’s new Emergency Services Building, located at the lower end of campus, and is open to anyone in the community who is experiencing mild to moderate COVID symptoms. Appointments are required and must be scheduled in advance. Testing, which is saliva-based, is provided at no cost to individuals. The site will be open from 8:30 am to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. The Oneonta site is scheduled to operate through the end of February. OTSEGO COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES announced that KN95 masks will be made available, FREE for distribution to the public, beginning today at the American Legion COVID test site in the Village of Milford, located at 86 West Main Street in Milford, as well as the SUNY Oneonta COVID test site.
