Governor Cuomo announced a new initiative to encourage individuals who owe significant back taxes to pay their bills.  A New York driver’s license can be suspended when a taxpayer’s past-due tax liability exceeds $10,000.  The Tax Department is sending the first round of 16,000 suspension notices to delinquent taxpayers, who have 60 days to pay up, if they fail to, the DMV will send a second letter providing an additional 15 days to respond. If they fail after that, the license is suspended until the debt is paid or a payment plan is established.  More information is available at tax.ny.gov.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 49-Year-old David Pallik of Downsville for DWI with a BAC result of 0.16%, which is twice the legal limit.  The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on State Route 28 in Oneonta; Pallik was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court on March 19th.
Governor Cuomo announced that the state DMV has investigated 13,000 possible cases of identity fraud since facial recognition technology was implemented three years ago. These investigations have resulted in more than 2,500 arrests and more than 5,000 individuals facing administrative action.  Research showed that about 50% of the subjects identified had one valid license while having a second record that was suspended or revoked, 20% of the subjects had suspended or revoked licenses, 30% of the subjects had multiple valid licenses.

GOVERNOR'S Cuomo will send out members of his cabinet to deliver the state budget MESSAGE today.  Locally, DMV commissioner Barbara Fiala will deliver the message at 10:30 at the Binghamton State Office Building on the 18th Floor, and state Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito will deliver the state budget message at 12:00 noon in the Craven Lounge at SUNY Oneonta.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 22-year-old Koby Marble of Oneonta for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. The arrest resulted from a DWI road check in Oneonta, Marble was issued tickets returnable in the Town of Oneonta Court on February 2nd.
