Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 46 year old Anthony Alessi of Walton for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal possession of a controlled substance, following a traffic stop at a check point in Town of Colchester, Alessi is accused of being impaired & was found to possess cocaine, he was processed and was released on appearance tickets for Town of Colchester Court at a later date.

28 year old Erin Hubbell of Margaretville pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of her conditional discharge, she was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 364 days in the Delaware County Jail. On March 17, 2024, Erin Hubbell, & 3 other individuals, were arrested after a traffic stop of their vehicle and a search uncovered fentanyl, she pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, as part of her plea bargain she agreed to seek help for drug addiction and refrain from further violations, however, Hubbell was stopped by State Police On January 8th, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin & other narcotics, she was arrested & still faces unrelated felony drug charges. The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office filed a request to declare her delinquent on the terms of her conditional discharge, leading to the latest sentence.

State Police have arrested 4 people for burglary at a residence in the town of Lisle. On May 5, State police were contacted regarding 4 people taking things from a residence and putting it into a U-Haul. Following the investigation state Police charged Laura Dickerson, Joseph Swarts, Matthew McLaughlin & Jamie Levene, all of Binghamton, for 2nd degree Burglary, they were transported to the Broome County Jail for Central Arraignment and Processing.
State Police arrested 32 year old Alexei Mordwinkin of Port Crane for Menacing, after Troopers were dispatched to Fat Cowboys in the town of Fenton, where Mordwinkin allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun at a patron. Troopers located Mordwinkin at his residence and the item he displayed was a BB gun, he was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton where he was processed and issued an appearance ticket to the Fenton Town Court on July 13, 2023.

The City of Oneonta announced that R.B. Robinson Contracting, will begin construction for River Street and Ann Street Reconstruction and Water Main Replacement project starting today. Work includes replacement of the water mains, new services to curb boxes, stormwater improvements, and pavement replacement from Main Street to past the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club, all of Ann Street, and from Bridge Avenue to the end of River Street. Construction is expected to continue into the fall months, for more information, contact the Department of Public Works at 432-2100.

STATE POLICE at Troop C announced that 1 person was arrested during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Delaware County on Wednesday. Alcohol was sold to a minor at Smiley’s Convenience Store located at West Main Street, Sidney, an appearance ticket was issued to the clerk who sold alcohol to the minor. Several other businesses in Sidney, Walton, Franklin & Delhi were in compliance.

The Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 47 year old Lance Johnson of Binghamton was found guilty on all counts in Broome County Court Thursday, for the fatal shooting of Alison Salisbury of Binghamton and for the shooting of Shannon Brooks of Conklin, on August 7, 2020. Johnson will be sentenced on October 7th.

State Police & local law enforcement agencies will participate in a special Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement initiative to keep the public safe during the Thanksgiving holiday. State Police will have sobriety checkpoints, an underage drinker enforcement and the "Operation Hang Up" initiative, which targets distracted drivers. Police will also be making sure that drivers “Move Over” for emergency vehicles responding to emergency situations as part of the enforcement effort through Sunday night.
Governor Cuomo today announced a statewide holiday drive to benefit families in need across New York. Donations of new unwrapped toys, coats and school supplies are being collected to assist community-based organizations during the holiday giving season. The Broome County Sheriff's responded to 4 Light Road in the Town of Colesville on January 1st, for a reported fight. The suspects were eventually determined to be father and son Robert Woodward the 3rd & Robert Woodward the 4th, both arrested and charged with assault, they will appear in the Town of Colesville Court on a later date to answer to the charges.

3 people were left homeless from a Wednesday morning trailer fire in the town of Laurens. Firefighters from Laurens, West Oneonta, Mount Vision & West Laurens responded to the fire at the Valley Stream Mobile Home, The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, no injuries were reported.

The State Senate & the State Assembly have passed their versions of a state budget in Albany this week, lawmakers from both houses will soon convene budget conference committee to iron out the differences. Governor Cuomo's budget plan calls for a reduction in spending from last year's budget, both the Assembly & state Senate are looking for increases in spending well over the Governors numbers, including about 1.9 billion dollars in additional aid to education. The state budget is due on April 1st.

The Oneonta Police Department announced the arrests of 3 juveniles, in connection with the vandalism at Doc Knapp Field, Riverside Elementary School, the Swart –Wilcox House and a vehicle last weekend. Police officials said the tips provided by the public led to these arrests. All 3 suspects are under the age of 16, their identities will not be released, and the investigation is still continuing.
Federal Authorities closed down Lyn’s Leisure Tyme Gun Shop in Davenport last Thursday, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms raided the establishment on state route 23. The Bureau has not released details of the raid Thursday, the Delaware county sheriffs department were not involved in the raid.

State police in Oneonta arrested 22-year-old Cassandra Richardson of Hartwick for criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marihuana. Richardson was found to unlawfully possessing prescription drugs and marihuana after being pulled over for using a cell phone while driving, she was issued tickets for Town of Oneonta Court on January 28th.

Sidney police arrested 5 people on a variety of drug charges, following a 6 month investigation into the illegal sale of Heroin, Cocaine, Prescription Narcotics, & Mushrooms. State police at Troop C in Sidney are continuing the investigation, after the discovery of a dog left at the side of state route 28 in the town of Franklin last weekend. The male mastiff was left at the site with food & water, he was taken to the Delaware valley Humane Society in Sidney, police are following up based on evidence left at the scene.
State Police at Oneonta arrested 30-year-old Randy Moore of Portlandville for 2nd degree Criminal Contempt, following an investigation into a complaint on State Route 28 in Portlandville. Moore was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable in the Town of Milford Court on December 18th; he was turned over to the City of Oneonta Police Department, for action on a City of Oneonta Court warrant of arrest.
The Boys & Girls Club of Sidney announced that the Sidney Youth Basketball Program is returning on Saturdays Morning starting on February 2nd, 2013 at the Sidney Middle and Elementary Gym. The program is open to all Sidney students in kindergarten to 6th grade. The fee for registering is $10 and registration forms can be picked up at the Boys & Girls Club on the 2nd floor of the Sidney Civic or at www.bgcsidney.com (http://www.bgcsidney.com/). The New York Wine and Grape Foundation reported that 2012 was a record setting year for that industry. The foundation stated that 17 new licenses were issued in 2012, bringing the number of wineries to 328 with nine more still pending. In international wine competitions, New York wines received 88 "Best" designations, 565 gold medals, and 80 "double gold" medals which require unanimous decisions by the judges. Governor Cuomo recently held a wine & spirits summit in Albany to seek input on ways that the industry can expand 2012 levels.
