The Greater Maywood Society has been attempting to sell the firmer Sidney Center School, but they are planning a special community event to open up time capsules Saturday. Spokesman Mike Sellitti explains:

The event is open to the public; it will also feature music, a barbecue, as well as displays & memorabilia from the Greater Maywood Society & the Sidney Alumni Association. The event runs from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at the former Sidney Center School.
A Town of Plymouth resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on a Fugitive of Justice complaint for active Bench Warrant out of the Cleveland County Court in the State of Oklahoma. Deputies arrested 37-year-old Michael Lee Hall on the Fugitive of Justice complaint Hall was taken into custody and taken to the Town of Norwich Court. Hall was remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Facility with no bail. He is to reappear in the Chenango County Court at a later date.

Catholic Charities announced that they would be taking applications for their back to school backpack program. Applications can be picked up Tuesdays or Fridays in room 302 of the Sidney Civic Center through August 15th; more information is available at 604-4071.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of two sheep tied to trees, without water, in the Town of Hamden. Deputies identified their owner as 37 year old Lee McDonald of Walton, who was charged with 2 counts of Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance to animals under the New York State Agriculture and Market. McDonald was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Hamden Court on August 15th. McDonald was also arrested on 2 outstanding Bench Warrants issued by the City of Oneonta Court for Failure to pay a fine. He was turned over to Oneonta Police to be arraigned on those warrants.
The Center for Agricultural Development & Entrepreneurship will be hosting a Pasture Walk at Slope Farms in Meredith today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Pasture Walk will focus on their use of low-cost fencing technologies, daily rotations, and decision making processes that keep their pastures producing high-energy forages throughout the growing season. Slope Farms is located on Catskill Turnpike between State Highway 28 and County Highway 14.

Testimony began today in Broome County Court in the murder trial of Andre Lee of Binghamton. Lee was arrested for 2nd-degree murder for the shooting death of 19-year-old Scott Wright following a fight at a party at Town & Country Apartments on July 4th 2014, Wright died 3 days later.
The City Of Oneonta Department of Public Service will be flushing Water Mains on the Intermediate Service today through Friday. Affected areas are East Street above Hazel Street, Wilber Park Apartments, and the top of Draper Street, & North 5th, 6th, & 7th Streets, East Center Street Youngman Avenue & Park Street. Governor Cuomo announced that he is deploying the Department of Financial Services' Mobile Command Center to help eligible New Yorkers prepare and file their taxes for free. The unit will be making stops at locations throughout Upstate New York from April 4 through April 9, between the hours of 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.: Locally, the event will be held on Wednesday, April 6th in Oneonta at the Foothills Performing Arts Center.
