The Sidney Main Street revitalization Project is wrapping up the work on one side of Main Street this week, except for the planting of trees perennials & grass that will be planted in the spring. Ian Law of Place Alliance explains:

51-year-old John Gomes of Cohoes has been charged with reckless endangerment & arson, for allegedly trying to recreate a smithing technique he saw on television that led to a fire that destroyed 3 buildings & damaged 18 others last Thursday in Cohoes. 1 firefighter was injured in the Thursday afternoon fire, which spread rapidly from Gomes's backyard due to 20 to 30 mile an hour wind gusts.
State University at Oneonta officials announced that a freshman at the college died over the weekend. 18-year-old Daniel Michaels of Dix Hills died Saturday evening, details surrounding the death have not yet been released, and a memorial service was held on campus Sunday for Michaels.
The Oneonta Parks & Recreation Committee will hold their next regular meeting today, that meeting will begin at 7:00 PM at the Oneonta Common Council Chambers at City Hall.

The village of Sidney will be putting bids out in the next couple of weeks for the Main Street Project, with an eye on getting the projects under by the end of may or early June, which led to SFCU Officials deciding to cancel this year’s home town day parade. Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak explains:

Opioid Overdose training will be held the next 2 nights at the Bainbridge Guilford high school. A vigil was held at Memorial Park in Binghamton this morning, to remember those killed 8 years ago today at the American Civic Association immigration center on Front Street by Jiverly Wong of Johnson City. 13 people were killed inside the center; Wong eventually turned a gun on himself. It was one of the largest homicides in US history.
State Police arrested 34 year old Nathan Reigles of Gilbertsville for felony 2nd degree Assault. The arrest occurred after troopers investigated an assault on Saturday on Ives Settlement Road in the Town of Guilford, where Reigles allegedly struck another man with a pipe several times to the face and head. The victim was treated at Tri-Town Regional hospital and was released. Reigles was arrested & arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 property bond, he faces court action on Thursday.
The Annual SFCU Hometown Day Parade has been cancelled this year, due to the Main Street Construction scheduled to begin this summer in downtown Sidney. SFCU officials stated that they were not able to replicate an alternate route in order to safely accommodate the numerous parade units that usually participate. the 29th Annual SFCU Hometown Day Parade will be held in June 2018.
The Delaware County Tourism Advisory Board will meet this Friday April 7th at 10:00 am at the County Office Building at 111 Main Street, Delhi. The meeting is open to the public.
The Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert for FRANKLIN CARNEY of Norwich was cancelled Sunday Afternoon. State Police said that the alert was cancelled following many reports of Carney located at Turning Stone Casino in Verona.
19-year-old Jose Fulwood of Norwich was arrested Friday by the Norwich Police Department, he was charged with 2nd degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with another person less than 15 years old. Fulwood was arranged in Norwich City Court Friday afternoon, He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.
The Tri Town Relay For Life Captain's Meeting will be held this afternoon, at SFCU in Sidney at 5:30 PM. The annual Relay For Life will be held at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge on Saturday May 6th from 11am to 11pm. More information is available at relayforlife.org/tritownny or at 267-0014.
