Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 3 people following a traffic stop for a driver known to not have a valid driver's license. 24 year old Deanna Eignor of Hobart was stopped, her & a passenger, 26-year-old Schoen Stocks of Jefferson were found to have fentanyl, scales and packaging materials in the vehicle. Eignor & Stocks were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, and Eignor was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & other traffic violations, she had been released on her own recognizance on unrelated charges, & was additionally charged with Criminal Contempt. 28-year-old Wesley Eignor of Hobart was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle after he arrived on the scene & did not have a valid license. Deanna Eignor was held on $5,000 bail, Stocks & Wesley Eignor were released on appearance tickets.

30 year old Kenneth Dillmann of Hobart, pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Weapon and was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years of in prison. On January 12, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Buena Vista in Delhi for a suspicious person/drug complaint involving 2 vehicles, they conducted a search of a vehicle and located a loaded pistol in Dillmann’s backpack.

The Class of 2025 will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend in Cooperstown. Dick Allen, Dave Parker, CC Sabathia, Ichiro Suzuki and Billy Wagner will be enshrined, More than 50 Hall of Famers are expected to return to honor the newest members. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Sunday, at 1:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, The Induction Ceremony will be shown live on MLB Network, or at MLB.com.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the subsequent arrest of 44 year old Brent Trimbell of Hobart following a child sex abuse investigation and initial arrest from June 17th, when he was charged with 1st degree Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse & 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, at that time Trimbell was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $300,000 cash bail or $600,000 secured bond. Investigators discovered that Trimbell sent at least 6 videos or images to a child of a pornographic nature, on Wednesday Trimbell was arrested on 6 more counts of Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor, at the Delaware County Correctional Facility following Trimbell’s release on bond from the initial charges. Trimbell was later arraigned by Town of Walton Justice Michael Rippa, where the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office argued for bail at $100,000 cash or $200,000 secured property bond on the additional charges, Justice Rippa set bail at $1.00 and Trimbell was released from custody. Sheriff DuMond said that the investigation remains open and ongoing, anyone with information on any illegal activities committed by Trimbell are encouraged to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, announced funding for New York State in the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. The bill includes funding for $1.25 billion to sustain the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, the primary federal program builds more affordable housing; and $73 million in congressionally directed spending for affordable housing, community development, and transportation projects across New York.

State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying 2 individuals connected to a burglary that occurred on May 27, 2025, on Colesville Road in the town of Kirkwood. The suspects were last seen operating a 2010 Honda Civic with Pennsylvania license plate MNM7338. Pictures of the suspects & the vehicle can be found on the State Police Facebook page, Police stated that Please should not approach the individuals, who may be in possession of long guns. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Brent Trimbell of Hobart, he is accused of engaging in forcible sexual contact with 1 of 2 victims, and that multiple offenses were perpetrated by Trimbell against the victims in the Towns of Sidney, Delhi, Kortright, and Andes, while serving as the victim’s softball coach. Trimbell was charged with 1st degree Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse and 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $300,000 bail or $600,000 secured bond. Calvary Community Care Program at 75 Calvary Drive in Norwich, will be giving away fresh produce and other food to whoever needs it today. People can drive through and all food must be picked up on site, starting at 5:00 pm. More information is available on their Facebook page.

The Norwich Police Department reminds area residents that they will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy in October. The Delaware County Planning Board announced that they plan to develop a Strategic Comprehensive Plan, to guide future growth, development, and preservation in the County. Fisher Associates will lead the planning process and public engagement efforts. Public Input Sessions will be today from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM at the Hobart Community Center & Tuesday, September 17 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Walton Fire Hall, on West Street. The input gathered from the public survey and during these initial input sessions will be reviewed by Delaware County Planning and Fisher Associates, followed by additional opportunities for public review and comment.

The SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association held a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony this morning at the 9/11 Memorial in the quad. The was open to all member of the community & featured an Honor Guard, a presentation of flowers and a wreath, and special music, to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th in 2001 in New York City, Washington DC & Shanksville Pennsylvania.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will recognize several businesses and groups for their service to the county’s business community at its 2024 Business Awards celebration on October 16 at The Meredith Inn at Stonewall. Chamber President Ray Pucci comments:

State Police responded late last night to a residence on Houck Road in the town of Masonville for a reported domestic dispute. 32 year old Drew Garnier of Masonville, was charged with 2nd degree Murder and 2 counts of attempted Murder. Garnier allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife, 29 year old Samantha Garnier & their 2 children. Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies rendered aid to Samantha prior to EMT’s arrival, she was airlifted to Wilson Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries. 1 child was taken to Wilson Medical Center but later transferred to Upstate Medical Center. A second child was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center. Both children are expected to survive. Garnier was arrested on scene and taken to A.O Fox Hospital and upon release, he was processed at Troop C in Sidney & was transported to the Delaware Correctional Facility where he was remanded without bail.

State Police and Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2800 block of State Highway 268 in the town of Hancock for a report of a shooting Wednesday Morning. A 32-year-old man was shot in the upper arm and airlifted to Albany Medical Center, with a non-life-threatening injury. 60 year old Robert Trago Jr., of Hancock, was charged with Attempted Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, he was located just before 3:00 pm., in the Margaretville area and taken into custody. Trago Jr. was taken to Delhi where he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash, $200,000 credit, $400,000 bond.

The Village of New Berlin is hosting a ribbon cutting today at 1:00 PM for the opening of the new firehouse and Chobani Community Center.  The new firehouse replaces a 50 year old structure, with 6 garage bays, offices and separate rooms for gear, meetings, training and storage. The Chobani Community Center contains a kitchen area and large gathering space for the hosting of various events.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a 1 car property damage automobile accident in the Town of Harpersfield. 62 year old Ralph Leonard of Hobart is accused of leaving the scene before officers arrived, Deputies traveled to Leonard’s residence, where a marijuana growing operation was observed. Leonard was charged with Criminal possession of marijuana, Unlawfully Growing Cannabis, f Criminal possession of a controlled substance, Obstructing governmental administration & Aggravated unlicensed operation, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $4,000 cash bail or $8,000 bond.

The Tri County Senior Center will hold a meeting today, featuring guest speaker Barbara Losee, on the topic of "changes we face as we age". The event will run from 5:15 to 6:30 pm in the Smart Community Room at the Sidney Public Library. More information is available at 563-8065

Mallinckrodt has agreed to pay a settlement of $35 million after they were accused of supplying distributors an increasingly excessive quantity of oxycodone pills without notifying the DEA of the suspicious orders from 2008 until 2011. Mallinckrodt is also accused of violating record keeping requirements at it's manufacturing facility in Hobart in Delaware County, regarding the actual number of tablets manufactured in a batch, and the number of tablets they reported in their records.

A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital announced the appointment of 5 new members to their Board of Directors. Joining the Board is Noel Goodspeed of Sidney, who is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SFCU, Jeffrey Lord who is Vice President at Community Bank, N.A, Scott H. McLean of Sidney, who is the owner and President of Tieco-Unadilla Corporation in Unadilla, is business administrator at C.H. Landers, Funeral Chapel, Luisa Montanti who is the Property Manager of the Southside Mall, and Oneonta City School Superintendent Joseph Yelich.

State Police arrested 20-year-old Gerald Althiser Jr. of Springfield Center for intentionally starting fires in two campers. During the investigation, Althiser admitted to setting numerous fires, including the March 12th fire that destroyed the Milford United Methodist Church. Althiser was arrested for 3rd & 5th degree Arson; he was arraigned in the Town of Hartwick Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Otsego County Fire Investigators.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 26-year-old Dallas Cappelli of Stamford for 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Sale of a Weapon, and 1 count of Petty Larceny, Saturday night. The arrest occurred after an investigation of a larceny in Hobart, Cappelli was arraigned in front of the Town of Delhi Court where he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail, pending future court action.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies and Investigators arrested a Trout Creek man following the seizure of a number of marijuana plants from his property. 50-year-old Mark Suter of Sidney Center was charged with Unlawful Cultivation of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana following an annual domestic marijuana eradication program overflight conducted in conjunction with members of the State Police CNET Team and State Police Aviation Unit. Suter was issued appearance tickets and directed to appear in the Town of Tompkins Court on a later date to answer the charges.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will be conducting NYSERDA’s free energy workshops “EMPOWER Save Energy, Save Dollars” at various locations, starting tomorrow. The first workshop will be held tomorrow from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at Delaware Opportunities, in Hamden, and a 2nd will be held Thursday night from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council Carriage House at 76 Main Street, Stamford. The rest of the workshops will be held October 19th in Oneonta, October 21st in Hancock, & November 3rd in Deposit. The Delaware County District Attorney's office announced the arrest of 40-year-old David Rogers of Sidney Center, for 1 count each of Forcible Touching & Endangering the welfare of a child.  Rogers is a Level 1 sex offender, he was arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail & he will reappear in the Town of Sidney Court at a later date.  The Village of Sidney Police Department assisted in the investigation.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s office & the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department arrested 24 year old Timothy Nodine of Hobart for 3rd degree Burglary, 4th degree Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Sale of a Firearm & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest followed a 7-month investigation into the disappearance of property from a local estate.

The Delaware County Community Services Board seeks proposals For Mental Health Department consolidation.  Interested parties are invited to submit proposals for the consolidation of the Adult Mental Health Clinic, Children and Family Services and Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services to be located at 1 rental location of at least 10,000 sq. feet.  Interested parties may contact Cynthia Heaney, at the Delaware County Mental Health Department at 865-6522 for proposal and submission requirements.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies, acting on a complaint from security officers at Covidien Healthcare in Hobart, arrested a former Covidien employee for the theft and possession of Hydrocodone tablets from that manufacturer.  26-year-old Wayne Morse of Hobart was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Petty Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.  Morse was issued Appearance Tickets in the Town of Stamford Court on June 11th.

The Otsego County Planning Department has teamed up several organizations to bring energy efficiency information to homeowners, small businesses, and non-profits. A workshop is scheduled for tonight from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the town of Hartwick Community Center, 450 County Road 11, Spokesperson Solvei Blue explains:

Since the workshop series began, over 20 Otsego County residents have applied for or been approved for a free home energy assessment through NYSERDA’s Home Performance with Energy Star® program.
