Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 3 people following a traffic stop for a driver known to not have a valid driver's license. 24 year old Deanna Eignor of Hobart was stopped, her & a passenger, 26-year-old Schoen Stocks of Jefferson were found to have fentanyl, scales and packaging materials in the vehicle. Eignor & Stocks were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, and Eignor was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & other traffic violations, she had been released on her own recognizance on unrelated charges, & was additionally charged with Criminal Contempt. 28-year-old Wesley Eignor of Hobart was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle after he arrived on the scene & did not have a valid license. Deanna Eignor was held on $5,000 bail, Stocks & Wesley Eignor were released on appearance tickets.

30 year old Kenneth Dillmann of Hobart, pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Weapon and was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years of in prison. On January 12, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Buena Vista in Delhi for a suspicious person/drug complaint involving 2 vehicles, they conducted a search of a vehicle and located a loaded pistol in Dillmann’s backpack.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the subsequent arrest of 44 year old Brent Trimbell of Hobart following a child sex abuse investigation and initial arrest from June 17th, when he was charged with 1st degree Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse & 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, at that time Trimbell was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $300,000 cash bail or $600,000 secured bond. Investigators discovered that Trimbell sent at least 6 videos or images to a child of a pornographic nature, on Wednesday Trimbell was arrested on 6 more counts of Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor, at the Delaware County Correctional Facility following Trimbell’s release on bond from the initial charges. Trimbell was later arraigned by Town of Walton Justice Michael Rippa, where the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office argued for bail at $100,000 cash or $200,000 secured property bond on the additional charges, Justice Rippa set bail at $1.00 and Trimbell was released from custody. Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, announced funding for New York State in the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. State Police responded late last night to a residence on Houck Road in the town of Masonville for a reported domestic dispute. 32 year old Drew Garnier of Masonville, was charged with 2nd degree Murder and 2 counts of attempted Murder. Garnier allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife, 29 year old Samantha Garnier & their 2 children. Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies rendered aid to Samantha prior to EMT’s arrival, she was airlifted to Wilson Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries. 1 child was taken to Wilson Medical Center but later transferred to Upstate Medical Center. A second child was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center. Both children are expected to survive. Garnier was arrested on scene and taken to A.O Fox Hospital and upon release, he was processed at Troop C in Sidney & was transported to the Delaware Correctional Facility where he was remanded without bail.

State Police and Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2800 block of State Highway 268 in the town of Hancock for a report of a shooting Wednesday Morning. A 32-year-old man was shot in the upper arm and airlifted to Albany Medical Center, with a non-life-threatening injury. 60 year old Robert Trago Jr., of Hancock, was charged with Attempted Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, he was located just before 3:00 pm., in the Margaretville area and taken into custody. Trago Jr. was taken to Delhi where he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash, $200,000 credit, $400,000 bond.

The new firehouse replaces a 50 year old structure, with 6 garage bays, offices and separate rooms for gear, meetings, training and storage. Mallinckrodt has agreed to pay a settlement of $35 million after they were accused of supplying distributors an increasingly excessive quantity of oxycodone pills without notifying the DEA of the suspicious orders from 2008 until 2011. Mallinckrodt is also accused of violating record keeping requirements at it's manufacturing facility in Hobart in Delaware County, regarding the actual number of tablets manufactured in a batch, and the number of tablets they reported in their records.

State Police arrested 20-year-old Gerald Althiser Jr. of Springfield Center for intentionally starting fires in two campers. During the investigation, Althiser admitted to setting numerous fires, including the March 12th fire that destroyed the Milford United Methodist Church. Althiser was arrested for 3rd & 5th degree Arson; he was arraigned in the Town of Hartwick Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Otsego County Fire Investigators.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 26-year-old Dallas Cappelli of Stamford for 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Sale of a Weapon, and 1 count of Petty Larceny, Saturday night. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will be conducting NYSERDA’s free energy workshops “EMPOWER Save Energy, Save Dollars” at various locations, starting tomorrow. The first workshop will be held tomorrow from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at Delaware Opportunities, in Hamden, and a 2nd will be held Thursday night from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council Carriage House at 76 Main Street, Stamford. The rest of the workshops will be held October 19th in Oneonta, October 21st in Hancock, & November 3rd in Deposit. Rogers is a Level 1 sex offender, he was arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail & he will reappear in the Town of Sidney Court at a later date.
