State police in Sidney & the US Marshals fugitive task force apprehended 29-year-old Angelina Wilson of Conklin, who was wanted for absconding from the Pennsylvania Department of parole & probation, for her participation in gas station armed robberies around Halstead, Pennsylvania.  Wilson was caught while fleeing from a trailer park in Conklin, she was also found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle and syringe.   Wilson was arraigned as a fugitive from justice and remanded to Broome county jail pending extradition back to Pennsylvania.
Congressman Gibson submitted comments to the State Department of Health regarding the draft midterm revisions to the New York City’s Filtration Avoidance Determination.   Gibson stated that the Land Acquisition Plan needs  to be decreased from $50 million to $20 million over the next 5 years.  Gibson also said that Reservoir levels should be maintained based on a scientific and technical review of NYC water needs, new infrastructure improvements, and an analysis of the risk facing Upstate communities. Contingency plans should also be put in place in the event of the potential of significant weather events.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, for projects conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers.  The Act is made up of grant and loan programs, project authorizations and to mitigate flooding risks, improve drinking water, support water transportation, and protect wildlife.   Area Congressman Chris Gibson voted in support of the bill, siting reforms to dam safety programs as a key reason for support.  Projects in Gibson’s 19th district will study the effects of Superstorm Sandy; address Levee Safety, Flood Control & Dam Safety.
Delaware County Deputies arrested 25-year-old Stephen Tanner of Lakewood Pennsylvania as a fugitive of justice on a warrant from Pennsylvania.  Tanner was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail.  He faces an extradition hearing shortly.

State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Vestal and Endicott Police Departments executed a search warrant this morning & arrested 37 year old Raheem Gibson & 35 year old Ann Vargas of Westover on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Police confiscated cocaine, marihuana, and a scale; both were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Union Court at a later date.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested a Pennsylvania resident on an active Family Court Warrant.  27-year-old Alfredo Gonzalez of Browndale, Pennsylvania was wanted on a warrant issued by the Chenango County Family Court for failure to pay child support; he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional facility on $1,000 purge or to serve a 60 day sentence.

Construction for the new site on Delaware avenue in Sidney next to K-Mart will begin shortly.
State University Police in Albany reported that an Oneonta native was found deceased on the campus Saturday morning.   18-year-old Jared Trotti was found dead in a visitor parking lot on the campus, he was just finishing up his freshman year at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania following his 2012 graduation from Oneonta High School.  The cause of death will be announced pending the results of an autopsy.
The 23rd Ed Wessels canoe regatta was held Saturday on the Susquehanna river from Otego to Sidney, and featured top pros that are expected to compete in the upcoming General Clinton Canoe Regatta.  This years Wessels regatta winners were Steve Rankinen of Pennsylvania & Matt Strybe of Indiana, beating out 7 time General Clinton winner Andy Treibold and & 5 time winner Steve Lajoie  (Lajwa) of Quebec by only 9 seconds.  Treibold & Lajoie struggled early in Saturday’s race with a hole in their canoe; they are expected to return to the area to defend their Clinton title on memorial day.
