Grant's Fire Museum, will open Saturday in Norwich. The Museum is located at 48 Sheldon Street in Norwich, a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, the museum is owned by career firefighter Andrew Grant, who has about 200 years of artifacts in his museum.

The Friends of Afton announced the return of Afton’s Annual Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday December 4th at 5:00 pm. Floats and vehicles will line up at Corporate Park off Route 7, Walking groups, bicycles, and golf carts will gather at the Afton Edge Apartments.

Yesterday was Election Day, The Delaware County Board of Elections did not announce a winner for the Sidney Town Supervisor’s race, between write-in candidates Eric Wilson & Kevin Greene, Officials told WCDO News it will take days or maybe even weeks to count & certify all of the write in votes across all 19 towns from this year's elections, there were 552 write in Votes Tuesday in Sidney Town Supervisors race. The winners for the Sidney Town board were Frank Selleck & Bill Heath, in the Town of Meredith, Town Council winners were John Janiszewski & David Briggs, the Town of Franklin Board seats go to Garret Sitts & Heather Ross, the town of Middletown Supervisor Will be Patrick Davis, the Town of Tompkins Clerk was Michelle Phoenix, in the Town Of Delhi, the supervisor will be Mark Tuttle, the Town Council winners were Margaret Baldwin & Matthew Kryston & the Walton Town Supervisor will be Joseph Cetta. In Chenango County, Sheriff Ernest Cutting was re-elected, The County Clerk winner is Brian Wessels, & the winners for the Norwich City Council are Fred Gee, William Loomis, Tom Revoir & Barry Christopherson. Chenango County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division and Narcotics Division investigated Narcotics in the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Today, a search of the Correctional Facility found 28-year-old Joseph Amaro had allegedly ingested the drugs prior to being incarcerated, the drugs were located and secured prior to Amaro being able to introduce the drugs into the population of the jail. Amaro was later transported the hospital to be evaluated, Sheriff Ernest Cutting stated that the investigation is ongoing, and arrests can be expected in the upcoming days.

from Sidney recently, in the parking lot of the Econo Lodge. The deputy observed a male attempting to
enter the passenger side, the officer detained the male for questioning and
moments later he fled on foot into the woods. The officer pursued the suspect
and after a brief struggle took him into custody. 40 year old Hayes Cutting of Bainbridge is
accused of stealing the car from the Village of Sidney on July 12th, he was
charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest &
Escape, he faces arraignment shortly.

The Sidney Town Board & Supervisor Gene Pigford announced that they would hold a ribbon cutting & public tours of the town’s new Municipal Building at 44 Grand Street, this Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The building formerly housed the offices of the Mirabito Fuel Group & Mang Insurance.

Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride and Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting reported that Ernest Franklin and Heather Franklin were indicted on Friday, by a Chenango County Grand Jury on charges of: 2nd degree Murder, 3rd degree Arson and Tampering with Physical Evidence, in connection with a fire at their residence on State Route 8 in the town of Guilford on March 1st. It was determined at autopsy that their adopted son, Jeffrey, was deceased prior to the fire. Investigators believe the fire was set to cover up the murder. Both defendants will be arraigned on the indictment in Chenango County Court at a later date.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting reported the arrest of 2 parents in connection with the death of 16-year-old Jeffrey Franklin on March 1st in the Town of Guilford. The Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Ernest Franklin & 33 year old Heather Franklin following the investigation of a fire at their residence on state Route 8. The autopsy showed that the fire did not cause Jeffrey’s death, and that he was deceased prior to the fire, investigators believe the fire was set to cover up the murder of Jeffrey. Both parents are charged with 2nd degree Murder, Arson and Tampering with Physical Evidence. The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting was Elected 2nd Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the New York State Sheriffs' Association, at the 83rd Annual Winter Training Conference last week in Albany. Sheriff Cutting will work with Sheriffs around the state, to further the efforts of the Sheriffs' Association to enhance public safety in New York State through professional training and accreditation programs, public safety programs, and advocacy. The New York State Sheriffs' Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation, formed in 1934, for the purpose of assisting sheriffs in the efficient and effective delivery of services to the public.
The Sidney Center Improvement Group most recent project was a fundraising campaign to install a new sign for the library. The Group Received the sign and installed it last week and will be hosting a ribbon cutting and reception at the library today, @ 4:00pm at the Sidney Center Library on Main Street.

The Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting & Chenango county DA Joe McBride held a press conference this morning, regarding the murder of 39-year-old Lucinda Knoll of Norwich, and the arrest of her former boyfriend, 48-year-old William Danielson of Preston. Knoll’s former boyfriend, 48 year old William Danielson of Oxford has been charged with 2nd degree murder, he was arraigned on the news charges Monday and was remanded back to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who was in the area of Maple Grove Trailer Park around 6:00 AM Friday to call 337-1921 or 337-1863. more details will be released later this morning by Sheriff Cutting at a press conference in Norwich.

Chenango county sheriff Ernest Cutting responded to a civilian complaint of a vehicle on the side of the road with the driver slumped over the wheel and the headlights on. 28-year-old Brandon Cornell of Bainbridge was charged with DWI and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting is confirming the identity of the body found on Tuesday February 26, 2013 on Center Road in the Town of Pharsalia. The body had been identified by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jennifer Ramsaran who was reported missing by her husband on December 11, 2012. The Sheriff’s Office along with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office is still investigating the cause of Jennifer’s death. The unidentified female body was taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office in Syracuse for an autopsy. Sheriff Cutting announced that the identity of the female body is unknown to investigators and the investigation is continuing”.
