Norwich Police arrested 43 year old Donald Craw of Delhi, following a vehicle pursuit Saturday that began in downtown and ended in a field off Chenango County Road l0A. At approximately 11:30 pm. officers attempted to stop a Craw's motorcycle after observing multiple traffic violations, he failed to comply and led officers on a pursuit, where he ran stop signs, nearly struck another motorist, and reached speeds double the posted limit. Craw traveled across a field & abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot, he was caught after a brief struggle, & was taken into custody, Police recovered a large quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, along with drug packaging materials and a digital scale, he was wanted on multiple warrants, Craw was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & Resisting Arrest, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on no bail. Additional charges are expected.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced an 8 count indictment Friday has been filed against 54 year old Joseph Bellows of Downsville, from the crash that occurred in Hancock on July 17th, that resulted in the death of East Branch Assistant Fire Chief Jason McGlone. DA Smith said that the most serious charge of 2nd degree Manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 5 to 15 years in jail if Bellows is convicted.

Following the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-6 victory on Wednesday to win the World Series, the team and players have donated several artifacts that tell the story of their championship season, and those pieces will soon take a permanent place in Cooperstown. Among the items donated, Spikes worn by World Series Most Valuable Player Freddie Freeman in Game 1 and 2, the Glove worn by Walker Buehler, the winning pitcher in Game 3 who also saved Game 5 Cap worn by manager Dave Roberts, the Cap and chest protector worn by catcher Will Smith, all donated items will be featured in the Autumn Glory exhibit, which will be on display shortly, through the 2025 Postseason.

The Firefighters Association of the State of New York reminds residents that Daylight saving time ends on November 3 at 2:00 AM, they encourage everyone to test their smoke alarms as they turn their clocks back to make sure the devices are working and replace the batteries each year. Stats show that working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half, as people only have about 2 minutes to safely get out of a fire on average. more information is available at fasny.com.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Donald Shurock Jr. On Monday, as members of the Sheriff’s Office took custody of Shurock at the Lackawanna County Prison in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Shurock was transported back to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & was charged with Resisting Arrest and Assault on a Police Officer, for an incident on October 17th in the Town of Pitcher. Shurock is being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on a Chenango County Court Warrant and will appear in the Chenango County Court at a later date.

Joe Ermeti of Sidney announced his candidacy for Delaware County District Attorney, the position is on the ballot this year following the election of former District Attorney John Hubbard to the position of County Court Judge. Ermeti has been an attorney for more that 30 years of experience as an attorney, he has served as Town of Sidney Attorney, Village of Bainbridge Attorney, and Otsego County Assistant Public Defender, and operated his own law office in Sidney from 1993 until 2019. Ermeti will face will be running in the June 27th Primary against Acting Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith

Former Otsego County Sheriff Donald Mundy has passed away. Mundy served as the Sheriff from 1993 until 2006, he also founded the Otsego County Law Enforcement Academy in 1995 which still trains Law Enforcement Officers throughout the region, he also served as a New York State Trooper from 1963 to 1985.

State Police arrested 55-year-old Donald Moshier of Lisle, for operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs, resisting arrest, menacing, unlawful possession of marihuana and several other traffic offenses. The arrest occurred after a trooper responded to check on a driver slumped over the steering wheel of his car on Smith Hill Road in the Town of Lisle. Moshier was asleep in the driver’s seat partly parked in the roadway. Moshier physically resisted being handcuffed, & is accused of swinging a metal flashlight at the trooper, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 property bond.

Tomorrow is Election day, with quite a few interesting races in an "Off Year” In the State Senate race in the 52nd district; Republican Fred Akshar & Democrat Barbara Fiala are running to fill the seat left vacated by the conviction of long time Senator Tom Libous.
Delaware County will have a Family Court Judge for the first time; the candidates are Democrat Gary Rosa & Republican Porter Kirkwood. In Chenango County, for District Attorney, incumbent Joseph McBride faces Zachary Wentworth. Several Town Races will be decided by voters Tuesday, in the Town of Sidney; Eric Wilson, Jeannette Hinckley, Loddie Marsh & incumbent Bill Heath are running for 2 seats on town board
In the Town of Franklin, for town Supervisor, incumbent Jeffery Taggart faces Epifanio Bevilacqua & 3 people are running for 2 seats on the town board: Dwight Bruno, Donald Hebbard and Donald Smith. In the Town of Harpersfield for Town Supervisor, incumbent Jim Eisel faces a challenge from Edward Pick Jr. Eisel is chairman of the Delaware County Board of Supervisors; a Pick Victory would mean a change at the top of Delaware County Government. In the race for Town of Guilford Supervisor, George Seneck faces Jeffrey MacCormack & for Town of Oxford Supervisor Frederick Lanfear faces Lawrence Wilcox.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 51 year Donald Scott of Afton following an investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamines. Deputies responded to 9 Blowers Hill in the Town of Afton after receiving information of a “1- pot” meth lab. Deputies reported that Lab equipment & chemicals used in the cooking process. The State Police assisted with the investigation & with the destruction of hazardous materials. Scott was charged with Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamines, he was arraigned in the Town of Afton Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.

The results are in from yesterday’s elections. In statewide races, Governor Andrew Cuomo, State Attorney General's Eric Schneiderman & State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli win re-election by healthy margins, and all 3 state propositions pass. In the 19th Congressional District Incumbent Chris Gibson is re-elected, in the 52nd State Senate district, Incumbent Tom Libous is the winner, in 121st Assembly District, incumbent Bill Magee wins again, & Broome County Sheriff David Harder is re-elected.

It's Election Day, with the big races on the ballot. The race for governor pits incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo, against Republican Rob Astorino & Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins is on the ballot again. In the State Attorney General's race, Incumbent democrat Eric Schneiderman faces Republican John Cahill. In the race for State Comptroller, incumbent Democrat Tom DiNapoli faces Republican Robert Antonacci. In races of local interest, for the 19th Congressional District, Republican Incumbent Chris Gibson faces democrat Sean Eldridge. In the 52nd State Senate district, Incumbent Republican Tom Libous faces Democrat Anndrea Starzak. In the State Assembly in the 121st Assembly District, incumbent Democrat Bill Magee faces a challenge from republican John Salka. In Sidney, Republican Loddie Marsh is running on the Democratic party line, while Jody Proffitt carries the Republican spot on the ballot for a town council seat. In Oneonta, Patricia Kent faces independent David Rowley for a town board seat. InFranklin, Republicans Donald Smith and Lisa Huyck are vying for two seats on the town council against independents Donald Hebbard and Bryan Babcock. There are also 3 propositions on the ballot; 1 proposal seeks to reform the redistricting process to an independent commission. The 2nd measure have lawmakers receive copies of proposed legislation digitally rather than on print out, the 3rd would allow the state to borrow up to $2 billion for high-speed Internet, equipment & high-tech security features for schools.

Major Faughnan also said that Troopers would be on the lookout for those who are using various electronic devices while driving, over the Memorial Day weekend.

The National Baseball Hall Of Fame announced today that on Memorial Day Weekend would feature 75 former major leaguers playing in 2014 Hall of Fame Classic at Doubleday field in Cooperstown. Hall of Fame Members Roberto Alomar, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith will serve as managers and coaches for the sixth annual game on Saturday, starting with the Home Run Derby at 1 PM and the Classic at 2:05 PM.
