The State Health Department continues to see a high positivity rate for COVID 19 testing across the state. The most recent test period had over 3600 positive tests out of 38,200 tested, for an 8.66% rate. Patient hospitalization have surged back up to over 3800. with 403 ICU patients & 179 on ventilators, and 128 deaths reported at hospitals & nursing homes.

Schenevus Central School District Superintendent Theresa Carlin resigned during a special board of education meeting earlier this week. Carlin's resignation takes effect on Saturday, she has served as the Schenevus Superintendent since 2018.

Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is exploring the possibility of public transportation. A survey is currently available regarding what county residents have or need for transpiration, some County residents are using the GetThere mobility program, more information is available t For more information at gettherescny.org or 833-373-4040.

State Police are reminding state residents that if they get a fundraising call from someone claiming to be with the State Police, the call is a scam. State Police will never solicit funds by phone, email or social media, anyone who receives such a call should hang up.

The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services announced that resources were deployed to assist Erie County recover from a historic series of storms. On Tuesday, Otsego County Special Operations Team members were activated to respond with equipment & personnel for a 72-hour deployment to assist with stranded residents or those in need of medical attention. On Wednesday, December 28, Otsego County Highway Department deployed 10 personnel with various pieces of equipment to assist with the clearing of roadways and impassable streets, they are expected to be working 12-hour periods each session into Monday

An American Red Cross Blood Drive is being held today at the A.O. Fox Tri-Town Campus, from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM, in the Conference Room N-112. The Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage due to the cancellation of blood drives and has issued an emergency request for all blood types. The New York Textile Act goes into effect in the new year. The Act aims to accelerate the growth of the animal and plant fiber growing, processing, and textile manufacturing industry in New York, it includes expanding annual farm recognition awards, state procurement process training for small businesses, It goes into effect January 1.

The New York State Thruway re-opened to traffic yesterday in Western New York, as crews have cleared the roads after the recent 4 foot snowstorm. The City of Buffalo lifted it's travel ban today, as crews from all over the state are assisting with removing cars that were stuck.

P.M. NEWS WEDNESDAY 12-28-22

State Police were dispatched Christmas day at about 12:30 PM to assist the Oneonta City Fire Department with a fully engulfed single wide trailer at the Oneida Village Mobile Home Park on Oneida Street. Fire personnel located a deceased male in the residence. State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene, the deceased man has been identified as 50 year old Aaron Blakeslee, who resided in the trailer. Oneonta Fire Department reported that 1 dog and 2 cats also died in the fire, there were no injuries to any firefighters. Investigators are working with the City of Oneonta Fire Department and State Fire Investigators to determine the cause of the fatal fire.

The State Department of Public Service announced it has expanded its investigation into NYSEG and sister company Rochester Gas & Electric, for potential mismanagement of their utilities’ billing systems and protocols. The Department’s Consumer Advocate will host a series of public forums in affected areas starting in January to hear consumer concerns first-hand, after over 4700 customers complained of sudden spikes in their electric bills of about 60% on average earlier this year. Customers t should contact the Department’s Office of Consumer Services to file a complaint at dps.ny.gov.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Hamden man on charges stemming from a Menacing Complaint Tuesday. Deputies responded to a reported menacing complaint, Upon arrival Deputies interviewed 49-year-old Hayes Hathaway, deputies determined that Hathaway had pushed the victim from behind, displayed an axe while verbally threatening to cause harm to the victim and then terminated the victim’s electrical supply. Deputies charged Hathaway with 1 count of each of Menacing & Harassment, & was released & ordered to appear in Town of Hamden Court at a later date.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed a legislative package to crack down on pandemic fraud. The Legislation increases the award amounts given to individuals who report fraud related to a State of Emergency. Currently, private citizens can file civil lawsuits on behalf of the government to help recover defrauded money and may be rewarded a percentage of the money recovered. With this new law, whistleblowers may be eligible to receive additional money if the fraud was perpetrated during a state of emergency.

Delaware County Emergency Services announced that crews from East Meredith, Pindars Corners, Stamford & Trout Creek Fire Departments were deployed to Erie County to assist with the disaster in Western New York. All were equipped with UTV's & brought necessary supplies for a 72 hour deployment.

The State Department of Health urges New Yorkers ages 6 months and older to get a flu shot, with the Department’s latest report showing an additional pediatric death, bringing the total to 5 so far this season. The Department's new flu surveillance report shows a total of 217,094 positive influenza cases across all 62 counties in New York have been reported to date. Outside of New York City, week-over-week lab-confirmed flu cases are up 4 percent to 36,047, the report is available at nyshc.health.ny.gov.

Cortland County Sheriff’s Officers responded to the Town of Homer for a motor vehicle accident, the driver, 20 year old Lucas Walley of Walton is accused of being intoxicated & driving off of the road. Walley was charged with Driving with .08 of 1% or More of Alcohol, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Across Hazard Markings, he was processed and released on his own recognizance with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Homer Court.

State Police remind motorists that they are continuing to crack down on speeders, distracted drivers, intoxicated drivers & aggressive drivers, through the Holidays. State police and local law enforcement agencies will continue to keep patrols on the roads through the New Year's holiday weekend, they also remind drivers to obey the "Move Over" Law when emergency vehicles are responding to issues on the highways.

Erie County Officials announced this morning that the death toll form the Christmas weekend snowstorm in the Buffalo region, has killed 36 people so far. 400 National Guard members have been sent to Buffalo to assist in the rescue & clean up, after 4 feet of snow fell, several miles of the New York State Thruway were closed in Western New York.

More than 1,900 New Yorkers are set to receive benefits as part of the final round of payments from the state’s historic Excluded Workers Fund. Nearly $30 million will be sent before the end of the year. In total, more than 130,000 EWF applications have been approved and, minus administrative costs, the entirety of the $2.1 billion fund will soon be distributed to eligible New Yorkers. Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that will protect consumers from scammers by requiring businesses give notice of potential scams when selling gift cards. The new Legislation amends the general business law to require that retailers selling gift cards also post a notice cautioning customers of gift card scams and providing information on what to do if they believe they may be a victim of such a scam.

Attorney General Letitia James cautioned consumers and businesses of price gouging of children's painkillers and fever reducers as demand increases for those medications due to this year's "tripledemic" of COVID-19, RSV, and the flu. The Attorney General is aware of reports of children's medication being sold online and in stores at prices two or three times their retail value. New Yorkers should report potential concerns about price gouging to the Attorney General's Office by filing a complaint online or calling 1-800-771-7755.

A new law requires telemarketers to give customers the option to be added to their do-not-call list immediately after the telemarketer says their name and company. The new law passed in the Legislature this year and was signed by Governor Hochul, it goes into effect on March 6th of 2023.

Oneonta Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon at about 12:30 PM, to a full involved Trailer fire at 24 Oneida Street. Oneonta was assisted by fire fighters from West Oneonta, Worcester, Franklin, Otego, Laurens & Milford Fire Departments, more details are expected to be released shortly.

Unatego School District Students were sent home earlier than usual today, not because of the weather but a small fire issue, according to Superintendent Dr. Dave Richards:

Dr. Richards said that Unatego students are scheduled to have a half day of classes, but the weather forecast may change that. WCDO will broadcast a CDO Stormwatch tomorrow morning is area schools close, delay or have early dismissals tomorrow.

State Department of Labor announced that it is improving the process for Unemployment Insurance customers to get their 1099-G form this tax season. The Department will be automatically mailing the form to New Yorkers who claimed benefits in 2022 and have not opted to receive the form electronically. The 1099-G provides the total amount of money received in benefits, as well as any adjustments or tax withholding made to those benefits. In the past, customers would have to contact the Department by phone to receive the 1099-G by mail. Customers can expect the forms to arrive in mailboxes by the end of January 2023. The Broome County Sheriff's Office is looking Haven Strong, he is described as a white male, six feet tall with blue eyes and brown hair. Governor Kathy Hochul signed the Warehouse Worker Protection Act (S. 8922/A. 10020) into law. This legislation will protect warehouse distribution workers from undisclosed or unlawful work speed quotas, and includes protections for workers who fail to meet unlawful quotas.

New York's annual statewide donation drive to benefit families in need has been completed. Through drop-off locations set up by the Office of General Services, 1,435 donations were made, including 1,022 toys. The donations will be distributed to families in underserved communities by community-based organizations such as the United Way.

New York State will continue with the $15.00 minimum hourly wage phase-in for upstate counties on December 31st. Upstate Workers will see an increase by $1.00 per hour, from $13.20 to $14.20, the minimum wage for home care aides will also increase by $1.00 to $16.20 per hour in counties in upstate New York.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to Cooperstown Elementary School Monday afternoon following the report of a bomb threat. A note was spotted on a tree in Hartwick claiming that there was a bomb in the Cooperstown Elementary school, the building was evacuated, the K9 Unit was brought in & no credible threat was found. The investigation is continuing.

The US Justice Department arrested Arley Gonzalez of Miami Florida for participating in an access device fraud conspiracy. Gonzalez was sentenced to 27 months in prison after he admitted to build skimming devices designed to steal gas station customer information in several counties in New York State, the information was used to obtain cash from unsuspecting customers from December 2015 to July 2019. Gonzalez must forfeit $247,000 as part of his plea agreement in addition to the 27 months in prison.

State Lawmakers may vote to give themselves a raise in a special session Thursday. The plans call for a $32,000 pay raise for State Senators & State Assembly Members, which make New York Lawmakers the highest paid in the country if approved.

Sidney Federal Credit Union announced that they have exceeded $800 Million in assets and stands more than 65,000 members strong. SFCU recently expanded its field of membership to Hamilton, Essex, Cortland and Onondaga counties. It currently operates 10 branch locations across parts of 14 counties in upstate New York. The Otsego County Department of Health announced that there has been 435 positive flu cases since October, last year there were 242 total cases. This season's flu is causing illness in children, with 19.1% of reported cases in 0-5 year olds, 24.8% in 6-10 year olds, 19.1% in 11-18 year olds, 19.1% in 19-50 year olds and 13.8% in 51 and older. Officials urge county residents to get vaccinated, more information is available at 607-547-4230.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced more than $102 million awarded to 64 projects through the Restore New York Communities Initiative. The Southern Tier was awarded more than $15.7 Million in support of 8 projects, including in the Village of Endicott with $6 Million for the IBM North Street Demolition Project: almost $3 Million Dollars for the City of Binghamton for the development of vacant site into a multi-story building with 102 rental units & $1.8 million dollars for the Town of Roxbury for the Inn at Kirkside, to re-purpose the historic site into a hotel/restaurant with an integrated educational program.

Unadilla Fire Department responded Monday Night at about 10:45 PM to a reported structure fire in the area of Buckhorn Lake Road and State Highway 7. Responding Firefighters discovered a working fire on the 2nd floor rear of the residence. Unadilla crews along with Wells Bridge crews were able to gain entry and knock the fire down. No injuries were reported, other Fire Departments assisting included Franklin, Sidney Sidney Center & Otego, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

State Police arrested 24 year old Robert Henness of Otego Monday for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. An investigation revealed that on multiple occasions, Henness inappropriately touched a child who is less than 13-years-old. Henness was processed at SP Oneonta and then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment and Processing. He was remanded to the Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The State Health Department reports a steady increase has been continuing in COVID 19 cases, along with many cases of various flu strains. From the period of Saturday through Monday, there were over 48,000 New Yorkers tested for COVID with 4438 positive tests, for an 8% positivety rate. Patient Hospitalization have increased to just under 3800, there were 363 ICU Patients & 153 on Ventilators, there were 94 deaths reported in Hospitals & Nursing homes. The State Health Department urges New Yorkers to get vaccinated & boosted for COVID 19 & to find out about flu vaccine clinics, contact your local health department or visit vaccines.gov/find-vaccines/.

The State Department of Labor announced that the state unemployment rate remained at 4.3% in November. Locally, Chenango & Otsego Counties had 2.7% Unemployment, Delaware County was at 2.9% in November.

The Chenango Arts Council's 2022 Member's Show and Opening Reception was postponed last week due to inclement weather, the event has been moved to tonight starting at 5:30 PM at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call reporting a one car motor vehicle accident last Thursday in the Town of Delhi. 45 year old William Smith of Bloomville was found to be operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition, and had been involved in a property damage motor vehicle accident. Smith was charged with Driving While Intoxicated & moving from lane unsafely. He was then released on an appearance ticket for Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

The Inauguration of Governor Kathy Hochul will be held on Sunday, January 1st, at 2:00 PM at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. The Governor will be sworn in and will then deliver her inaugural address.

The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce will hold their next regular meeting this morning. The meeting will begin at 7:30 am at the back of Bob's Diner.

After the town of Davenport discovered a leak in their water system over the weekend, forcing the closing of the Charlotte Valley School District Monday, the district announced that school will be back in session today.

47 year old Matthew Coley of Roseboom was arrested In Montgomery County & has been turned over to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office. Coley was charged with 2nd degree Strangulation & 3rd Degree Assault following an investigation into a domestic incident in March of 2020. A warrant was issued for Coley arrest, he was picked up following a traffic stop & was arraigned at Otsego County Central Arraignment and released on his own recognizance.

The Sidney Police Department arrested a Schoharie County man on a Delaware County Court warrant, relating to a burglary complaint filed by the Smoker's Choice in July. A warrant was issued and Before the warrant could be executed the suspect was incarcerated in the Scoharie County Jail on unrelated charges. Sidney Police Department arrested 21 year old Isaah Mann for 1 count each of 3rd degree Burglary, 4th degree Grand larceny, Criminal possession of stolen property, Criminal mischief & Obstruction of governmental administration. Mann was arraigned in Delaware County Court where he was released and returned to the custody of the Schoharie County Jail.

The DCMO BOCES program along with Commerce Chenango, & The Delaware & Otsego County Chambers of Commerce have teamed up for mentor recruitment efforts. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40 year old Denise Wells of Herkimer for Driving while impaired by drugs charges. Deputies received a 911 call report on December12th of an erratic driver on State Highway 10, which resulted in a motor vehicle accident near Fitches Bridge. Wells is accused of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, she was additionally issued the traffic tickets of Unsafe Lane Change and Failure to Keep Right. Wells was released and scheduled to return to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date to answer for these charges.

The Charlotte Valley Central School District was notified by the Town of Davenport that the town water district was experiencing water pressure issues this weekend. Today, the District's water pressure was below acceptable limits & the school was closed. Town of Davenport officials were continuing today to try to find the source of a water leak affecting the pressure, There were no classes or after school activities today, district officials will post an update later today on their website whether there will be classes on Tuesday.

Governor Hochul signed legislation that stops the sale of makeup items that are newly tested on animals. The law will prevent the abusive use of rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats to test cosmetic products on within New York State.

The Winter storm is ready to leave a significant amount of snowfall on the region today through early Saturday Morning, Local Meteorologist Rich Townsend told WCDO News what to expect:

The Governor's Office announced that the State DOT will be sending extra snowplows to the affected areas of this storm, WCDO will have the CDO Stormwatch this afternoon & again tomorrow with a list of school closings and postponements.

State Police arrested 19 year old Jeffrey Bullis of Unadilla, for Criminal Contempt, Stalking, and Criminal Trespass, after Troopers were dispatched to a report of a physical altercation at the House of Consignment on Main Street in Unadilla. State Police reported that Bullis violated an existing order of protection by entering the business, he is accused of grabbing and shoving a victim, causing the victim to strike a window and door frame, another person intervened & held Bullis down until troopers arrived. The victim went to Tri-Town Hospital for an evaluation of injuries that were sustained during the incident. Bullis was also evaluated at Tri-Town Hospital for a complaint of pain but was released and processed at Troop C, Bullis was issued appearance tickets to the Unadilla Town Court on January 23rd. The investigation is on-going, more charges are possible.

The State Department of Labor announced that the number of private sector jobs in the State increased by 19,600, or 0.2%, to 8,080,000 in November. The State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.3% in November.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced that items from the World Champions Houston Astros is being displayed currently. Artifacts donated by the Astros include a Jersey worn by World Series MVP Jeremy Peña, wristbands & toothpicks from Manager Dusty Baker, a Glove used by outfielder Chas McCormick, spikes from Pitchers Justin Verlander & Ryan Pressly, and a ball thrown by Cristian Javier from the Game 4 combined no-hitter and signed by all 4 Astros pitchers as well as catcher Christian Vázquez.

State Police responded to the report of “shots fired” in the town of Andes, the investigation revealed that a 62-year-old female was injured when she accidentally discharged a semi-automatic rifle, suffering face and hand injuries. The responding trooper applied a tourniquet to subside the heavy bleeding to the victim’s hand, another officer from the Colchester Police Department applied a 2nd tourniquet until EMS arrived and the victim was transported to Bassett Hospital for treatment. Troopers reported that the rifle is not legal in New York State and was not New York Safe Act compliant, 58 year old Richard Geraghty of Andes, was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced he will be running for re-election in 2023. 4 years ago, Korchak lost the Republican primary, but won the election on the Libertarian ticket.

The annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, begins today & runs through January 1st. Law Enforcement Agencies across the state are participating, last year 2,077 tickets were issued for impaired driving during the annual initiative.

Unadilla Valley Central School District voters approved a $17.8 million capital project by a vote of 114 to 18. The renovations and improvements will be funded through state aid and an allocation from the district’s reserve funds. The project is expected to be budget neutral, with no anticipated impact on the tax levy.

Area United Way programs are seeing only about 60% of their stated goals for the 2022 year, with donations being accepted through December 31st, Elizabeth Monaco currently heads up the United Way in Chenango, Madison, Delaware & Otsego Counties:

The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will hold their Jingle & Mingle Holiday After Hours event today from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The event will be held at the Community Cultural Center at 1 Bridge Street in Sidney.

State Police arrested 45 year old James Galarneau of Albany & 43 year old Megan Laprade of Massena, for multiple counts of Petty Larceny, Conspiracy, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Scheming to Defraud. The arrests follow the investigations into separate shoplifting complaints from businesses throughout the Capital Region and in Delaware County. The investigation determined Galarneau and Laprade worked together to steal items from businesses over 20 times beginning in June, both were arrested in Rotterdam and transported to 3 State Police troops for processing, they were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Courts on a later date and released.

Voters in the Morris Central School district approved of the $14.5 Million Dollar Project Tuesday, by a vote of 105 to 53. The project will be paid for through State Aid & A capital reserve fund, a big piece of the project calls for the replacement of the bus garage, which has been in service for 71 years. Construction is expected to begin next year.

The Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that 32 year old Frank Criscitello of Binghamton was sentenced to 3 years in State prison after pleading guilty in Broome County Court to Attempted Burglary. Back on March 9th, Criscitello broke into a Binghamton residence and stole money and jewelry, Binghamton Police tracked down the stolen jewelry to Criscitello and he was arrested.

Sidney Native Nancy Sue Burns passed away at the age of 85 on December 8th, Nancy Sue worked at the former Tri-Town News starting in 1975 & worked there for 43 years, rising to "Editor" of the weekly newspaper. A celebration of life for Nancy Sue will be held at a later date. In memory of Nancy Sue, donations can be made to the Chenango County Hospice in Norwich, more information is available at the CH Landers Funeral Chapel website.

State Police at Norwich arrested 62 year old Thomas Brick of Chenango Forks, on 2 counts of Grand Larceny, Troopers were contacted by a victim who had made an agreement with Brick to complete home renovations but no work had been completed. The contract was made in May and the victim paid Brick $18-thousand but called the State Police after several months of no work. Brick was arrested and processed at SP Norwich. He was arraigned and scheduled for his next court date in the Greene Village Court on January 5.

The State Health Department reported the COVID 19 continues to be a concern, along with influenza variants this winter. Over 65,000 tests were conducted State Wide from Saturday through Monday, with over 4500 positive tests, or 5.3%, Patient hospitalizations are over 3500, with almost 1300 in an ICU bed & 138 on ventilators, there were 98 deaths reported over the 3 day [period.

The Unadilla Valley Central School District is proposing a capital project totaling $17.8 million, with voting scheduled for today. The renovations and improvements would be funded through state aid and an allocation from the district’s reserve funds, with no affect on taxpayers. Voting will be from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM in the Storm Alley.

State Police arrested 26 year old Peter Tarallo of Sidney for 2nd degree Assault, after Troopers were dispatched to a report of an assault at an apartment on State Highway 8 in the town of Unadilla. The troopers discovered that a victim was struck with a sauce pan over the head several times, leading to an injury. The victim was transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich for further evaluation. Tarallo was located with the assistance of village of Sidney Police, he was transported to the State Police headquarters in Sidney and processed & was transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment and Processing.

The Broome County Sheriff's Department arrested 2 area men for several counts of Criminal possession of a weapon, after they posted a Facebook live stream Monday. 42 year old Nicholas Skiba of Johnson City and 23 year old Keith Hall of Chenango Forks were arrested, a handgun was seen in the live stream and Skiba was wearing Ballistic Body Armor, The Whitney Point & Chenango Forks schools were on lock out, along with Wilson Medical Center and Binghamton General Hospital. Sheriff's Deputies obtained a search Warrant for Skiba's cell Phone & Facebook page, they discovered the location of the 2 men at a residence on State Route 12 In Chenango Forks, they were taken into custody, Deputies seized 5 handguns, 4 rifles 3 shotguns 2 black powder pistols and large capacity magazines, the investigation is ongoing.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchack announced that 48 year old Lance Johnson was sentenced to 70 years in Prison in Broome County Court Thursday. Johnson was found guilty for the murder of of his girlfriend Alison Salisbury, who was killed august 7th of 2020.

The State Department of Transportation announced that construction is complete on a $16 million project to replace the bridge carrying Front Street over Interstate 81 at Exit 5 in the Town of Dickinson. The project consisted of roundabouts placed at 2 intersections, along Route 11 and the upgrade of another intersection with new traffic signals.

$55.4 million in financial assistance will be available for water infrastructure improvement projects throughout the state. Locally, the City of Oneonta will receive $6.7 Million Dollars from interest-free financing for upgrades to the city's wastewater treatment plant.

Governor Kathy Hochul will deliver the State of The State address on Tuesday, January 10 at 1:00 PM in Albany. The address will be delivered in the State Assembly Chamber to a joint session of the legislature.

The Binghamton Black Bears announced that the long standing Binghamton Hockey tradition, the Teddy Bear Toss, will be part of Saturday night’s game against the Delaware Thunder at the Arena. Fans are invited to bring teddy bears, or other stuffed animals, to the game and throw them on the ice after the Black Bears’ first goal, the bears will be picked up and donated to the Crime Victims Assistance Center, where they will be given to local children as gifts this Christmas. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a trespass complaint in the Town of Davenport last week. 73 year old George Sydlar is accused of cutting his neighbors barbed wire fence that was dividing their 2 properties. Sydlar was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested Nathan Clements of Chenango County following a traffic stop in the Town of Laurens. Clemens was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, No distinctive plate, Failure to notify DMV of an address change & Disobeying a traffic control device, he was issued appearance tickets for Laurens Court at a later date.

The Chenango County Health Department is urging everyone six months and older to receive a flu vaccine as cases of influenza rise across the state. Statistics show that the flu season is ramping up early, with flu hospitalizations higher at this point in the season than they have been in a decade. Flu is also spreading at the same time as other respiratory illnesses, including RSV and COVID-19. The State Health Department reports increases in COVID 19 cases Tuesday. Over 81,000 were tests were conducted with 7,110 new positive cases, for a 7.86% positivity rate, Patient Hospitalization increased to 3,293, with more than 300 patients since Friday, there were 288 Patients in an ICU bed & 115 on ventilators, and there were 18 more deaths attributed to the virus Tuesday in Hospitals & nursing homes.

Norwich Police & State Police responded Saturday evening to the report of a victim of an assault arriving at a downtown business asking for help. Police arrested 32 year old Jeffrey Sabines of Oxford, for 1st degree assault & criminal possession of a weapon, 44 year old Jason Lowe of Norwich, for 3 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 4th degree conspiracy, 45 year old Daniel McCoy of Norwich, for conspiracy, and 37 year old Meredith Conkey of Norwich for obstruction of governmental administration & criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sabines was sent to the Chenango County Correctional facility without bail for violating his parole and for being a repeat offender, Lowe, McCoy, and Conkey were ticketed and released & will appear in Norwich City Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 32 year old Kody MacDonald with Criminal Contempt, for allegedly violating an order of protection from Delaware County Family Court. MacDonald is accused of contacting protected parties in the town of Colchester last week, he was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.

37 year old Jonas Whaley was sentenced Monday in US District Court in Syracuse to 87 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Whaley admitted that he possessed 50 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine & he possessed 2 pistols and a revolver, which he used to protect himself while distributing the drugs. Whaley will also serve a 4-year term of post-imprisonment supervised release and will forfeit $3,600 in drug proceeds.

The Broome County District Attorney’s office announced that 42-year-old David Coffey pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon for having an illegal, loaded .40-caliber pistol in the City of Binghamton on May 25, 2021. Members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, executing a search warrant, found the gun and small amounts of methamphetamine at Coffey’s home on Clifford Street. Coffey had previously been convicted of Assault in Delaware County in 2003, & had previously was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Petty Larceny and Conspiracy for allegedly trying to cheat a Town of Chenango resident by paying for electronics with counterfeit funds. Coffey will be sentenced to 7 years in State prison plus 5 years post-release supervision in February.

State Police arrested 29 year old Kristofor O’Rourke of Newfield, for Criminal Sexual Act and Official Misconduct. O’Rourke who was last employed by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, was previously employed by the Watkins Glen Police Department, Mt. Morris Police Department, and the Geneseo Police Department. State Attorney General Letitia James announced that her office, along with a coalition of 5 other states and the Federal Trade Commission, secured $9.4 million from Google and iHeartMedia for airing misleading ads about a Google device. Google paid Corporate radio personalities to record endorsement ads describing their positive experience using the Google Pixel 4 phone, without ever using them, the misleading ads ran in English and Spanish more than 23,000 times in 10 different markets, in violation of New York's consumer protection laws. Google and iHeartMedia will pay New York $1.58 million.

State Health Department tested over 39,000 New Yorkers last Thursday & Friday for COVID 19 with over 3,000 positive tests, for a 7.3% positivity rate. Patient Hospitalizations were back up to almost 2900, with 282 ICU patients & around 100 on ventilators, there were 43 more deaths attributed to COVID 19 over the 2 day reporting period.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office audited the Downsville School District, The audit found that the board and district officials did not always ensure claims were properly audited before payment. Auditors reviewed 150 claims packets totaling $870,798 and found claims totaling $700,507 were not properly audited. School Officials also did not obtain the minimum number of quotes for nine claims totaling $18,628.

19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin pleaded guilty today to various charges, for the May shooting at the Buffalo TOPS Supermarket, killing 10 black people & injuring 3 others. Gendron pleaded guilty to murder, murder as a hate crime and hate-motivated domestic terrorism, which carries an automatic sentence of life without parole. Gendron admitted in court that he killed the people because of their race, he still faces federal charges relating to the same attack.

The State Health Department and the Governor's office reminds New Yorkers to get their annual flu vaccine as flu season is widespread across New York State. The flu virus and the COVID virus are both circulating, with the COVID 19 positivity rate still at 6.7% with another 3700 cases documented on Tuesday. Patient Hospitalizations from COVID were at 2,882, and over 620 from the 3 strains of the flu, The state Health department reported that there were 281 ICU COVID patients with 96 on Ventilators & there 31 deaths attributed to COVID on Tuesday. New Yorkers can to get their bivalent COVID-19 vaccine boosters at their local pharmacy, county health department, or healthcare provider; or visit vaccines.gov.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 48 year old Billie Vonkrusze of Utica for criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband, while being booked into the Jail on separate charges. Vonkrusze was returned to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment.

The Chenango County Sheriff's office arrested 24 year old Samantha Clipston of South Otselic for Tampering with Physical Evidence and on an Arrest Warrant, following a vehicle pursuit that began in the Town of Norwich. Clipston was wanted on an active Arrest Warrant and while deputies attempted to take the operator of the vehicle she was riding into custody, the operator began to flee, Clipston threw parts of a rifle out of the window, which were later recovered. Clipston was taken into custody once the vehicle she was riding in became inoperable, she was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on cash bail & will reappear in the Town of Oxford Court at a later date.

State Police investigated a tractor trailer rollover accident early Tuesday morning, that spilled medical supplies on State Route 17 between Hancock & Deposit. Clean up took about 2 hours, no injuries were reported, so far the driver has not been ticketed, the investigation is ongoing.

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the 2023 county budget Tuesday. The budget totals $110 million, a $4 million decrease from the previous budget, The tax increase will be less than 1%.

New Yorkers who are currently enrolled in SNAP will receive additional assistance in the month of November. Officials stated that even if a household is already receiving the maximum allowable benefits, they will receive a supplemental emergency assistance payment of at least $95.00.

Road Construction projects will be suspended during the 5 day period in order to keep the increased volume of traffic moving, except in the case of emergencies.

Attorney General Letitia James announced the convictions of Cross Tie Disposal of Kentucky, and its Vice President, Harold Young, for illegally dumping contaminated railroad ties treated with hazardous materials in Chenango County and creating fake receipts to conceal the illegal disposal. Cross Tie pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny and Endangering Public Health, Safety, or the Environment, while Young pleaded guilty to Endangering Public Health, Safety, or the Environment. Both Cross Tie and Young were sentenced in Chenango County Court to three-year conditional discharges, they will pay over $117,000 in penalties and fines.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released a report showing that New York's labor force decreased by 1% between 2011 and 2021 while the rest of the nation increased by 5.1%. The report showed that a rebound took place from 2105 on before dropping significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic & shutdown, the workforce began growing in 2022, it is still 400,000 workers below the state's December 2019 peak. DiNapoli's report found the long-term decline was due to population changes and New York's 10-year average participation rate was 59%. The Southern Tier and North Country Regions suffered the worst, with had double digit declines during the reporting period.

The New York State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for October. New York State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 4.3% in September to 4.4% in October 2022. Preliminary statistics showed that all local counties had unemployment rates under 3% in October.

The State Health Department announced that the regular strains of influenza are widespread for the 6th straight week. For the week of November 12th, 11,696 cases of the flu were detected out of over 68,000 samples, for a 17% positivist rate. The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 621, a 43% increase over the previous week. There have been no influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.

A hunter died Saturday after falling from a tree stand in Vega. 71 year old Fernando Paparatti of Harrison was climbing up to his tree stand when he fell 12 feet, his son found him hours later after he failed to return. Roxbury & Margaretville EMT's responded, Paparatti was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner's office.

42 year old Kory Minshall of South Otselic was arrested following a vehicle pursuit. Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to arrest Minshall on an active arrest warrant, he took off in a vehicle from Norwich to Oxford & back to Norwich, where his vehicle became disabled, he then fled on foot & was taken into custody. Minshall was charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, plus the original An Arrest Warrant. Minshall was arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on bail. He is set to appear in the Town of Norwich Court, Town of Oxford Court, and the Village of Oxford Court to face numerous charges.

Unadilla Fire Department, Wells Bridge Fire Department plus Sidney EMS & Firefighters responded to a a 1 car Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment Monday Afternoon at about 3:20 PM, personnel began extracting both patients, Life Net took first patient to Syracuse, the second patient was loaded in the Mercy Flight which lifted off to Syracuse at approximately 16:26.

The Unadilla Valley Central School District is proposing a capital project totaling $17.8 million, with voting on December 14th. The renovations and improvements would be funded through state aid and an allocation from the district’s reserve funds.

The New York Cannabis Control Board issued the first 36 dispensary licenses this week, a total of 175 will eventually be issued, that is stalled as a court ruling earlier this month prevents the board from issuing licenses, following a lawsuit that claims that the state is violating interstate commerce laws by issuing the licenses to only New York State Businesses.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a fatal UTV accident on Carcass Brook Road in the Town of Tompkins. 45-year-old William Youhas of New Jersey was operating a side-by-side Utility Vehicle When he lost control & the vehicle overturned, Youhas was partially ejected & was pinned underneath, 1st responders were not successful and Youhas was pronounced deceased at the scene.

19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin has had his court date adjourned, due to the snow storm that dumped about 6 feet of snow on the Buffalo area since Thursday. Gendron was due in Erie County Court today to to answer to a series of charges for the fatal shooting for 10 people and the injuring of 3 others, during an attack on a Supermarket in a black neighborhood in May. Gendron is being held pending court action in for local and federal courts in the near future.

Delaware County Sheriff's deputies arrested 24 year old Henry Kaufmann of Delhi following an investigation into a 1 vehicle accident Friday night on State Highway 10 in Delhi. Deputies responded to the accident site, where the driver left the scene, Kaufmann was later located & he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, operating with no seat belt, and open container. Kaufmann was released on an appearance ticket and was scheduled to appear before the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

The State Department of Education is now requiring all State schools to drop Native American Imagery or names as their mascots. Districts will have until the end of this school year to comply with the directive or risk the loss of funding and even school officers such as the superintendent.

Morris Central School District residents will vote on a $14.5 million capital project, which includes replacing the bus garage, roofs on the main building, repaving the parking lot and installing LED energy efficient lights and replacing flooring as necessary, installing more cameras, replacing fire doors and updating the heating of the school. 86% of the project will come from state aid and the district will use $1 million in its capital reserves fund, a public forum will be held at 5:30 PM on December 8th in the school's library. The vote will be December 13th at the school's main entrance.

19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin is expected to plead guilty Monday in Erie County Court, for fatally shooting 10 people & injuring 3 others, in a racist attack on a buffalo Tops Supermarket in a predominantly Black Neighborhood May 14th. Gendron was charged in federal and state courts with multiple counts of murder and hate crimes, he is being held pending the court appearances.

The Village of Sidney Police Department arrested 36 year old Thomas Wright of Oxford and 36 year old Troy Dibble of Oxford, on Burglary & Grand Larceny Charges, following an investigation of a burglary of a house on Patterson Street in Sidney. A car trailer, 2 ATV's & a number of Tools were taken from the property, it was located in the town of Oxford and the 2 men were arrested. The State Department of Agriculture & Markets announced that raw milk from the Nickol Dairy Farm in Otsego County was found to be contaminated with Listeria following an inspection. The State Department of Labor announced that the number of private sector jobs in the State increased by 3,700 to 8,063,000 in October. The State's unemployment rate increased .1% to 4.4% in October. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Walton resident for driving while intoxicated after Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at around 80 miles per hour on State Hwy 206 in the Town of Walton. 22 year old Dakota Nichols of Walton was charged with DWI, driving with a .08% or more of alcohol, & Speeding, Nichols faces court action at a later date.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 28 year old Darrick Reynolds of Unadilla following a traffic stop in the Town of Morris November 10th. Reynolds was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Uninsured, Uninspected & Unregistered Motor Vehicle & Improper Plates Reynolds was taken into custody and turned over to Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, he will appear in court at a later date.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 43 year old Duane Dye of Edmeston following a traffic stop in the Town of Edmeston. Dye was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Registration Suspended & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Dye was found to be operating a motor vehicle on a public highway with a suspended registration and suspended driver’s license, he will Appear in Edmeston Town court at a later date.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli audited the State Department of Labor regarding their failure to replace its long-troubled Unemployment Insurance system, which contributed to billions of dollars in improper payments sent out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The audit recommended the Department recommended the replacement of the system, take steps to improve the verification process to stop fraudulent claims, Department officials generally agreed with the audit’s findings and recommendations.

The State DEC announced that November 15th will be recognized as New York Recycles Day.. Oneonta police announced that 50 year old Taver Brown of Oneonta died last Thursday morning in a bicycle accident in Huntington Park. Brown died from head & neck injuries in the bicycle crash, he was not wearing a helmet, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Attorney General Letitia James, as part of a coalition of 40 attorneys general, today secured $391.5 million from Google for misleading millions of users about its location data tracking. A multi-state investigation found that Google failed to notify users that location tracking services were automatically turned on for web and app activity. Millions of consumers with Google accounts who used Google's apps, such as Google Maps, Google Search, Google Chrome, and other Google apps, were unaware that their location was being tracked.

New York State is honoring veterans with a statewide Free Fishing Day today, November 11, it will be the final Free Fishing Day of the year. All regular fishing regulations will still apply today.

In honor of Veteran's Day, the State Department of Health announced that they are working to correct disparities in services available to Veterans, after a report found 37% of veterans report at least one disability, compared to 26% of non-veterans, Veterans are more likely to report they engage in risky behaviors, including smoking, and are more likely to report diagnoses of other health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, COPD, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis than non-veterans in the same age group. Oneonta Police Department & Fire Department responded early this morning at about 6:50 AM, to the report of an unresponsive male lying near a bicycle in Huntington Park in the City of Oneonta. The 50-year-old male was found deceased, video surveillance revealed a bicycle accident had occurred. The cause of death is unknown at this time pending a medical examination, The investigation is ongoing, the name of the deceased will not be released until proper family notifications can be made. Chenango County Health Department reported that multiple cases of rabies have been identified within the local wildlife population inside Norwich City limits. Any wild animal acting strangely and in close proximity to residential areas should be considered dangerous. 46 year old Jamie Crowley of Windsor was found guilty by a jury of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2 counts of Menacing in Broome County Court, on July 3, 2021, Broome County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Crowley’s home after reports of Crowley firing a gun at a woman’s car who turned around in his driveway, and at responding deputies, who returned fire, Crowley sustained non-life threatening injuries. Crowley was sent back to the Broome County Jail following the guilty verdict.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that since early January, when mobile sports wagering became available in New York, the State has collected $542 million in taxes through the week ending October 30, far surpassing every other state in the nation. State Police announced that the body of Frederick Mayock of Springfield Massachusetts was found in Canadarago Lake in Otsego County yesterday. Mayock was reported missing after he went kayaking October 22nd.

Delaware County Sheriff's office arrested 41 year old Billie Jo Browning of Unadilla, after Deputies responded on October 28th, to a 2-car property damage motor vehicle accident on State Highway 28 in the Town of Meredith. Deputies arrested Browning for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, she will appear in the Town of Meredith court at a later date.

The State Health Department reported that COVID 19 statistics continue to increase, as the regular flu cases are also widespread. Statistics from November 5th through the 7th showed that 6.84% of those test were positive for the virus, patients hospitalizations are approaching 3000 statewide, with 302 ICU patients and 105 of those were on ventilators. There were 66 more deaths reported in Hospitals & nursing homes over the 3 day reporting period.

Several people were injured in a house fire at 83 Rush Avenue in Binghamton early this morning. several people were taken to area hospitals, Binghamton firefighters had the fire under control in about 45 minutes, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

State Police announced that In the month of October, members from Troop "C" removed 34 impaired drivers off the roadways. 3 of those impaired drivers also had a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle with them, 5 of those drivers were more than double the legal limit, 7 of those drivers were under the influence of drugs.

State Police responded Wednesday to an SUV Rollover accident on Frost Hill Road in the town of Plainfield, where the vehicle driven by 28 year old Amber Brown of Rome went off the roadway, struck an embankment and partially overturned. 3 year old Amina Estrada was pronounced dead at the scene, 2 adults & 4 children in the Estrada family were taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Utica for further medical care. State Police responded Wednesday to a report of a serious SUV Rollover crash in the town of Plainfield. Troopers reported that the SUV struck an embankment and partially overturned, a 3 year-old female died from injuries sustained in the crash, 2 adults & 4 children were taken to a Utica area hospital, all of the occupants were from Rome & are not being identified at this time, The crash remains under investigation.

State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative throughout Chenango County Tuesday and all businesses checked were in compliance. Some of the businesses that followed the state's laws were B&W Wines & Liquors, of Bainbridge, Mirabito's in Bainbridge & Afton, & Snake Bite Liquors in Afton. During the initiative, retail establishments are checked using a trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operative(s) who, if asked, cannot lie about their age or give a fake date of birth. When asked for their ID they must show their real New York State ID.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at 57 mph while in a posted 30 mph speed zone Sunday. Deputies identified the driver as 21 year-old Nicholas Wanamaker of Maybrook, a check of Wanamaker’s driver’s license revealed that his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Deputies arrested Wanamaker for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Speeding, Wanamaker released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date,

State Police were dispatched Tuesday Afternoon to a 2-vehicle crash on State Highway 12 in the town of Greene. A preliminary investigation revealed that 42 year old Maryann Zupo of Greene was traveling south on State Highway 12 and crossed into the path of another vehicle driven by 22 year old Shelby Rose of Norwich. Zupo was extricated by members of Greene EMS and life saving measures were unsuccessful, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Rose suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Wilson Medical Center for further medical care. The investigation continues.

A New York appeals court has upheld a new state law allowing absentee ballots to be reviewed before Election Day, saying it would would be “extremely disruptive” to change the rules with absentee voting already underway. The decision from the Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court reverses a lower court ruling that declared New York’s early review of absentee ballots was unconstitutional. Early voting will continue through Sunday November 6th, Election Day is Tuesday November 8th.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 58 year old Floyd Moseman of East Meredith for driving with a suspended New York State Driver’s license. On October 26th, Deputies responded to a report of a male walking in the middle of the road on State Highway 28 in the Town of Delhi, the investigation revealed that Moseman had operated a Motor Vehicle until it became disabled, then started walking, a check of Moseman’s driver’s license revealed that his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Moseman was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, he was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that Kristopher Duncan of Plattsburgh, pleaded guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Broome County Court this week. Duncan admitted to firing an unlicensed and loaded handgun in a room at the Comfort Inn on Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson on June 11th. No one was injured in the shooting. Duncan will be sentenced in January.

River Street in Oneonta will be limited to one lane of traffic Today & Tomorrow, as a private contractor will be working in front of 55 River Street on both days from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to flaggers and temporary traffic control devices. Norwich Police have arrested 38 year old Matthew Lamb of Norwich, on charges of 4th degree arson, criminal mischief, & reckless endangerment, for allegedly using a blow torch to kill insects at his apartment at 12 State Street in Norwich Monday Night. Firefighters from the Norwich Fire Department, & the North Norwich Fire Department responded, no injuries were reported.

State Police announced that 2 people were arrested during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Otsego County on October 28th. Alcohol was sold to a minor at Mirabito's in Richfield Springs and Apple Mart in Cooperstown. An appearance ticket was issued to each clerk who sold alcohol to the minor. 10 other businesses in Otsego County were in compliance, including Mirabito stores in Cooperstown & Cherry Valley,

24 year old Kyle Corbin of Endicott, pleaded guilty to felony Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in Broome County Court. Corbin admitted to bringing in methamphetamines into the Broome County Jail earlier this year when he was jailed on an unrelated charge. Corbin is expected to be sentenced to 1½ to 3 years in State prison when sentenced in January.

20 year old Jaeden Cunningham of Florida was arrested by Johnson City police on a variety of charges. Cunningham is accused of shooting a Ride Share Driver Saturday. Cunningham was charged with 2nd degree Attempted murder, Attempted assault, Criminal possession of a weapon & Criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, the 49 year old driver was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of non- life threatening injuries.

Firefighters from Greene, Smithville, Coventry & Brisben responded to a fire at 109 Bunt Road in the town of Greene Monday afternoon. The fire was put out in about 30 minutes, no injuries were reported.

State Police and local law enforcement will increase patrols to target impaired and reckless drivers during the Halloween weekend. State Police also will target the illegal sale of alcohol to minors through underage drinker enforcement details statewide during the five-day period. This special enforcement period begins Friday, October 28, 2022, runs through Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call regarding a disabled vehicle blocking a portion of the roadway located on Case Hill Road in the Town of Franklin on Ocotber 18th. Deputies interviewed the driver of the vehicle, 52 year of Terri Nocela of Downsville, she was charged with DWI, Felony DWI, Operation of a motor vehicle with a BAC greater than .08%, Operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, along with other lesser charges, Nocela was arraigned & was released on her own recognizance, she was ordered to appear in the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

Local government sales tax collections grew by 10.2% in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The report stated that it was the 2nd straight quarter that year-over-year growth did not keep pace with inflation for counties and cities outside of New York City, although 52 out of 57 counties experienced growth in collections.

The Otsego County Health Department reported that a skunk from the town of Springfield tested positive for rabies Tuesday. Health Department officials said that 1 unvaccinated dog was exposed & was euthanized, 3 people are undergoing post exposure treatment. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced nearly $32 million was awarded to 1,032 organizations including state community regrant partners, arts partnerships, and arts organizations throughout the State. These New York State Council on the Arts grants will increase access to vital arts funding in local communities and will provide critical support to organizations still in recovery. 30 year old David Brunell was found guilty of 3rd degree robbery, in Chenango County Court this week. Brunell was accused of robbing a Norwich Pharmacy, he was sent to the Chenango County jail & he will be sentenced on December 19.

Oneonta Police Department responded to the Townhouse Motor Inn Saturday for the report of a man sleeping in the stolen motor vehicle. 39-year-old Terrence Mewborn of Binghamton, was found to be in possession of the stolen car, a loaded handgun and a variety of illegal drugs, he is also accused of obstructing the police investigation, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a controlled substance, Criminal Possession of a weapon, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Mewborn was arraigned & was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $50,000 cash or $500,000 bond.

The New Bivalent COVID-19 BOOSTER Vaccines are available to anyone 12 and older. The Chenango County Health Department is hosting a variety of Bivalent BOOSTER clinics, one today at the Unadilla Valley School & another at the Afton School on November 3rd.
