The Greene Central School District announced that their Primary and Intermediate schools had to go to remote learning today, due to a water main break. Students from Pre-K to 5th grade students were affected. Also, Due to the poor road conditions, all students in the Harpursville Schools will be fully remote Tuesday & Wednesday.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Deputy for Driving While Intoxicated and Official Misconduct. 25 year old Anthony Shields of Colchester was arrested on December 17th by Sheriff’s Deputies for reporting to work in an alleged intoxicated condition. Shields recently graduated the Police Academy in November and was previously employed at the Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer since 2017. Shields was processed and released on appearance tickets reportable to the Delhi Town Court on January 26th & has been terminated from his position.

O’Connor Hospital in Delhi is hosting a special drive-through parade for families to visit Santa Claus on Saturday, December 5, from 11:00 AN to 12:00 Noon. The Sidney Central School District has been notified that 2 members of the District community have tested positive for COVID-19. The first individual has not been on campus since Thursday, November 12th and the second individual since last Friday, November 20th. The Department of Health Services has conducted and completed the contact tracing. Any and all people impacted have been notified. The potential exposure has been minimized in this case because of the emphasis placed on wearing face coverings and social distancing; there will be no change to the current Sidney School Schedule.

State Police arrested 73 year old Darrel Rich for 1st degree assault, in connection with a shooting in the town of Fenton on Saturday. State police reported that a 58-year-old woman was shot and was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. Rich was processed and transported to Broome County Central Arraignment, the shooting remains under investigation.

The fire started around 4:30 PM Sunday, 16 fire departments responded, the barn was filled with Hay, no people or animals were injured, it was completely destroyed, Delaware County Emergency Services is investigating the cause.

Village of Delhi Police Department arrested 32-year-old Sheila Thompson and 32-year-old Kyle Alverson of Delhi, each of them being charged with Unlawfully Growing Cannabis and 6 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The Community Foundation for South Central New York has released the results of their most recent survey of the needs of local non-profits as they continue to respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In August, as a follow-up to an earlier survey done, the Foundation surveyed local organizations including non-profits, school districts, economic development agencies and others, 111 responded with ongoing concerns about lost revenue, cash flow, the mental health of employees and clients, and the expectation that their circumstances will likely be worse in 2021. Governor Cuomo announced a Friday deadline for school districts that have not submitted plans for in-person learning yet. Currently, 107 school districts have not submitted a plan for the fall, last Friday Governor Cuomo said that all school district should be able to re-open in September, but they must submit plans to be approved by the Health Department & the State Education Department. Local schools that did not submit a plan include: Cooperstown, Richfield Springs & Worcester in Otsego County, and Andes & Margaretville in Delaware County.
Driving with a broken windshield and a suspended license resulted in a Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arresting a Delhi man last Wednesday evening and charging him with Driving While ability impaired by drugs and felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Deputies observed a vehicle being operated on Phoebe Lane in the Village of Delhi with a broken windshield, they stopped the vehicle, which was driven by 30-year-old John Regazzi of Delhi, who was accused of driving while
impaired, along with several other lesser charges. Regazzi was processed and released and was directed to appear in the Delhi Town Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 68 year old Thomas Lima of Franklin after they responded to a harassment complaint in the Town of Franklin on May 27th. Lima allegedly made contact with, and harassed, a protected party for whom an order of protection was issued by the Delaware County Family Court, Deputies arrested Lima for harassment & criminal contempt, during processing at the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Lima is accused of spitting on and attempting to trip Deputies, he was additionally charged with obstructing governmental administration & attempted assault on a police officer. Lima was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on cash bail, pending future appearances in the Town of Franklin and Delhi Courts.

Pop-Up scam and lost thousands of dollars, the victim was stopped from further
issues by an alert UPS employee. The investigation is on-going by Delaware
County Sheriff's Investigators and San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff DuMond reminds the public that they

target of a scam or identity theft. On-line
complaint forms are available through the State Attorney General, ag.ny.gov;
