Delaware County has been contracting with Delaware Opportunities, to provide nutrition services to Delaware County residents 60 years or older and their spouses. Thursday Night, Delaware Opportunities ceased all operations of senior meals effective immediately. The Delaware County Office for the Aging took over today. Delaware County officials will move forward with the plan to take senior meals service in house rather than waiting until 2027. Delaware County Office for the Aging will be operating these services, and no seniors will be left without meals or services they receive.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announce that a new labor agreement has been reached with Corrections Union, the Otsego County Board of Representatives approved a new contract for the men and women of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division, making the Sheriff’s Office comparable to surrounding County agencies.
The Otsego County Solid Waste Department will host the 21st Earth Festival event from 10 am. to 3 pm. Saturday, at SUNY Oneonta, in the Chase Auditorium. Events include educational workshops, the repair Café, and activities for children, seed exchange, and a morning bird walk. County Officials will be there promoting recycling and waste diversion practices that the county has developed over the years for residents of the county.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli reported today that despite median household incomes increasing in every New York County from 2019-2024, they did not keep pace with the cost of living when adjusting for the 23.1% inflation during that time period. The analysis shows that the inflation adjusted median household income increased by $1,688, or 2%, from 2019 to 2024, in 23 of the state’s 62 counties, real median household income decreased. Locally, 3 of the 10 largest percentage decreases in real household incomes were found in the Southern Tier Counties.

39 year old Taylor Church of Bainbridge, admitted to violating the terms and conditions of her probation sentence, and was expelled from the Delaware County Adult Treatment Court Program. Church was re-sentenced in Delaware County Court to 2.5 years in state prison to be followed by 1 year of post release supervision. Church pleaded guilty last October to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, State Police arrested Church in January of 2025, a search uncovered heroin, cocaine a scale & ammunition.
Otsego County School Districts Plastic Film Recycling challenge ends today, after Otsego County Students collected & turned in plastics like grocery bags, bread bags & bubble wrap to get them out of the waste stream, Kyle King of the Otsego County Solid waste Department explains:

Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar commented today on Wednesday night’s "shots fired" investigation in the Town of Dickinson:

Akshar said that the 4 people were trying to leave the area in an Uber and were taken into custody, and All four were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail, they all posted bail and have been released. The Port Dickinson Police Department and the Broome County Sheriff's Office teamed up on the arrests and investigation.
Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 49 year old Adam Lund of Columbus on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Town of New Berlin Court for Sex Offender Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of Address Change. Lund was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in the Town of Columbus Court. Lund was released on his own recognizance and will appear in the Town of New Berlin Court on a later date.

51 year old Shane Johnson of Grand Gorge was sentenced to 6 months in jail to be followed by 5 years of felony probation supervision for his conviction of Grand Larceny. On February 13, 2025, State Police responded to Mountainside Creamery in the Town of Roxbury regarding a report that several items had been stolen. Troopers discovered that the items had been sold for scrap by Johnson, he later admitted to stealing the items valued at over $3,000, Johnson was remanded to the Delaware County Correction Facility to begin serving his sentence, If he violates the terms of probation, he faces the possibility of being re-sentenced to 2 and 1/3 to 7 years in state prison.

The City of Norwich Police Department arrested 28 year old Elijah Joyce of Norwich following an investigation, with assistance from the Chenango County Probation Department. Norwich Police Detectives developed intelligence that Joyce may have been in possession of an illegal firearm while on active probation. When members of the City of Norwich Police Department and Chenango County Probation tried to make contact with Joyce at a local business, he was brought to the ground rather swiftly and placed in handcuffs,  Officers recovered a 9mm handgun with approximately 20 rounds of hollow-point ammunition loaded in the magazines, as well as metal knuckles. Joyce was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail, pending further court proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional criminal charges will be filed from the City of Norwich Police Department as a result of the incident.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 61 year old Cathleen Mann of Burlington for 2nd Degree Grand Larceny and 57 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, following an investigation into a complaint in the Town of Maryland, where Mann is accused of writing fraudulent checks and unauthorized use of a debit card for an amount greater than $50,000, she was held for centralized arraignment and an order of protect was issued for the victim.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 25 year old Christopher Roettger of Worcester, for 1st degree Assault & Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following an investigation into a stabbing during a domestic incident. Roettger fled the scene and responding deputies located a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the residence, who was taken to Bassett Hospital, Roettger returned to the scene to turn himself in, he was taken into custody without incident. Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence and the defendant’s vehicle where additional evidence was secured. The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended that bail be set at $100,000 cash, Roettger was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending Arraignment. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit.
State Police responded to a 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 88 in the town of Sidney Friday Afternoon. A tractor trailer and a pick-up truck were traveling west when they made contact, The pick-up truck continued off the roadway. The tractor trailer exited the roadway and turned on its side. The operator of the pick-up truck, a 77-year-old male sustained injuries and was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center and is in stable condition. The operator of the tractor trailer, a 56-year-old male was transported to A.O Fox Hospital. Interstate 88 west was shut down to assist with the removal of the tractor trailer, Motorists were detoured at exit 10. Troopers were assisted by the New York State Department of Transportation with the closure. The investigation is on-going.
Delaware County Sheriff's office arrested 43 year old Martin Planty of Walton for Forcible Touching, & Harassment, following an investigation of unwanted sexual contact. Planty was processed and transported to the Delaware County Jail to await Centralized Arraignment as the victim requested an Order of Protection.
Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Mathew O'Neill of Windsor with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident involving a boat and a tow truck in the Town of Colesville. On January 5, Responding deputies found a Ford Expedition smashed under a boat, with the rear of the boat pressed directly against the structure of a residence. The investigation revealed that O'Neill's vehicle left the road way and struck the parked boat, which collided with a residence and a tow truck parked nearby. No injuries were reported.

Norwich Police arrested 27 year old Caleb Alexander of Columbus Ohio for Criminal Impersonation following an investigation into an adult who was using foul language and disrespecting staff at the Norwich YMCA. Alexander was using a number of incorrect identifications, detectives learned that Alexander later went to Norwich High School, where he allegedly used a false name, date of birth, and address in an attempt to enroll and gain access to the school. Detectives located Alexander a short time later, and he was taken into custody without incident. Alexander was wanted on a parole/probation warrant from Ohio for robbery and impersonating a police officer. Ohio authorities have confirmed that they intend to extradite Alexander to face those charges. Norwich Police stated that no children were harmed, and the suspect never made it beyond the high school office. Alexander is currently being held pending an extradition hearing in Chenango County Court.

A section of I-81 was closed this afternoon following a Crash and fuel spill southbound at Exit 4 at about 1:00 PM. A multi-vehicle crash has caused a fuel spill on Interstate 81 southbound, at the Exit 12 ramp to Binghamton/Port Dickinson, State Route 7. Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar and Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti rallied in support of the family of Brennan Loveless, the 13-year-old boy hit by a vehicle on January 1, 2023, while riding his bike on State Route 7 near his home in Sanitaria Springs. 37 year old Bradley Law of Harpursville, fled the scene and staged a fake accident with a deer the following day in an effort to cover up the damage to the truck. Law was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide, but agreed to plead guilty to criminal possession of a firearm and attempted leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, for which he was slated to receive 2 concurrent sentences of 1 1/3 years to 4 years in prison. Law faced other unrelated charges, & was sentenced to 2 consecutive sentences, a total of 2 and 2/3 years to 8 years. The Loveless’ family was recently notified that Law is scheduled to be interviewed by the Parole Board soon, today Sheriff Akshar & DA Battisti urged residents to contact the State Parole Board and recommend a denial of parole for Law, online at doccs.ny.gov, the DIN number is 23B5664

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Christopher Romano of Otego on an Arrest Warrant from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. Romano was located in the Town of Butternuts and taken into custody without incident, and he was turned over to Chenango County Sheriff’s to answer his warrant.

36 year old Honesty Muller of Hamden appeared in Delaware County Court and was sentenced for Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Muller was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision, On October 29, 2024, Muller was pulled over by a Delaware County Deputy in Delhi, a search was conducted and methamphetamine was located in her wallet.
43 year old Thomas Mould of Stamford, appeared in Delaware County Court and was sentenced for Criminal Sexual Act, to 4 years in state prison and 8 years of post-release supervision. On June 23, 2024, State Police were dispatched for a domestic dispute in Stamford, in regard to Mould’s alleged molestation of a child under the age of 17. Mould was found at his place of employment and arrested, he gave a statement to police admitting that he did touch the victim and he knew that the victim was under the age of 17.
The State Department of Health is monitoring an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease, with reported cases in New York City & into the Hudson Valley. 35 cases were reported in the lower Hudson Valley, there were 83 confirmed cases in New York City with 21 hospitalizations & 3 deaths reported. The disease is a type of pneumonia caused by bacteria that grow in warm water.

State Police arrested 61 year old Frank Kovacs of Laurens after an Otsego County grand jury indictment. Kovacs has been charged with 2 counts of 1st degree Rape and 3 counts of Criminal Sexual Act. Kovacs is currently serving as the Mayor of the Village of Laurens in Otsego County. An investigation began in December of 2024 when a victim reported that over a decade ago, they had been sexually assaulted by Kovacs for several years, in multiple locations by means of forcible compulsion, intimidation and coercion when the victim was a teenager. Kovacs was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $10,000 cash, $10,000 credit or $100,000 bond.
47 year old Nicholas Cartelli of Otego pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance last week. On January 3rd, Cartelli & a co-defendant possessed 1 or more preparations, compounds, mixtures, or substances containing a narcotic, Cartelli admitted that he possessed Heroin in the Village of Sidney, he was remanded to the Delaware County Jail to await his sentencing, which is set for August 5th, he will be sentenced to 4 years in state prison and 2 years of post-release supervision.

State Troopers, the Roxbury Constable, Roxbury Fire Department, & local EMS responded Saturday night to a 1 vehicle crash on Vega Mountain Road in the town of Roxbury. A Toyota SUV went off the roadway, hit several trees before going down the embankment. The operator and only occupant was removed from the vehicle and transported to Margaretville Memorial Hospital but did not survive. The operator is identified as 34 year old David Oakley of Oneida, NY.
56 year old Ronald Roof of Franklin appeared in the Delaware County Court and was sentenced for Driving While Intoxicated, Roof had previously pleaded guilty to felony DWI, he was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation, and his license was revoked, he must have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on any vehicle he owns or drives if he ever obtains a driver’s license. If he violates his probation, he is subject to being re-sentenced to 1 and 1/3 to 4 years in jail.
The Delaware County Department of Public Works will be closing CR 18 in the Town of Stamford to through traffic at 7:00 am. daily June 17th and 18th , for culvert replacement/repair work. The road will be closed between the Village Line and Red Rock Road, approximately 600 feet north of Pearl Street. The road will be opened by the end of the day each day. The traveling public should use alternate routes.

Robb said that the project has been slowed down somewhat with all of the rain in the County since the start of the project.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office has responded to the scene of a car crashing into a tree in the Village of Milford at about 1:00 PM today on State Route 28. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office, Otsego County EMS and the Milford Fire Department were currently at the scene, initial reports suggest that the car left the roadway and struck a tree. Traffic may be delayed in that area for clean up & accident reconstruction work.
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating 39 year old Stephanie White, who is wanted on a probation violation. White is described as a white female, about 5'1" with brown hair & hazel eyes, anyone with information should call 607-832-5555 or go to "Submit A Tip" on the Sheriff's Office App.
The Afton Central School District closed at 11:30 this morning & all after school activities are canceled. The water in Afton was discolored or dirty, the Village of Afton Public Works Department told WCDO News that there was no water main break, but road crews using jack hammers adversely affected the quality of the water earlier today, it should clear up and there is NO order to boil water in effect.

37 year old Daniel Klenchik pleaded guilty to Tampering with a Witness in Broome County Court, he made a threatening video phone call to intimidate a victim involved in his pending criminal case, while he was incarcerated at the Broome County Jail, Klenchik will be sentenced to 2 to 4 years in New York State Prison on July 18.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 50 year old Stacy Wilson of Oneonta for 3 counts of Promoting Prison Contraband, following the discovery of narcotics in the Otsego County Correctional Facility. During the intake process, corrections officers located 3 individually wrapped foreign objects in Wilson's clothing, the substances tested positive for fentanyl, Wilson was processed and returned to the correctional facility for Arraignment.

35 year old Duane Kinne of Walton appeared in Delaware County Court Wednesday and was sentenced to 12 years in state prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. On December 21, 2024, Walton Police arrested Kinne and charged him with several counts of Unlawful Surveillance, and Criminal Sex Act, he appeared in Delaware County Court in March and waived his right to have the case presented to a Delaware County Grand Jury, he pleaded guilty to 6 counts of Unlawful Surveillance & 1 count of Criminal Sex Act, he was sentenced to six - 1 year sentences for each conviction of unlawful surveillance and to 12 years of imprisonment and 20 years of post-release supervision for his conviction of Criminal Sex Act, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender upon his release from state prison.
35 year old Irina Irimescu of Sidney appeared in Delaware County Court Wednesday to be re-sentenced after it was determined she violated her probation. On August 14, 2023, she pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny, she admitted guilt for her part in a larceny with Darin Wignall. She was sentenced to a term of 5 years of felony probation supervision. The County Department of Probation filed a revocation petition alleging Irimescu violated the terms by failing a required drug screening. Judge Rosa re-sentenced Irimescu to 364 days of incarceration.

47 year old Michael Thiel of Sidney, appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon & 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Thiel will be sentenced to a term of 2-4 years in state prison for the weapons charge, and 3 years of incarceration and 2 years of post-release supervision for the controlled substances charge. On September 10th, 2024, Sidney Police executed of a search warrant at 50 Main Street in Sidney with the assistance of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team. A loaded pistol as well as narcotics were recovered from the residence, leading to Thiel's arrested & convictions.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand discussed legislation to reduce the cost of prescription drugs for seniors as millions of older adults struggle to afford their prescription medication. As a result, many resort to cutting pills in half, skipping doses entirely, or switching to over-the-counter medication in an attempt to save money:

Gillibrand’s legislation would lower the cost of some of the most expensive and commonly used prescription medications by enhancing the Department of Health and Human Services’ ability to negotiate directly with pharmaceutical companies on the price of certain prescription drugs covered under Medicare Part D. This will lower costs for people with Medicare while simultaneously reducing drug spending by the federal government.

43 year old Steven Baker of Sidney appeared in Delaware County Court Wednesday and was arraigned on a sealed indictment, which was unsealed with a charge of 3rd degree arson. The Indictment alleges that on May 19th, Baker and a co-defendant stole a motor vehicle and intentionally set fire to it in the Town of Sidney. Baker was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.
42 year old Jessica Pidgeon of Oneonta appeared in Delaware County Court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to 3rd degree Burglary, Pidgeon & several co-defendants unlawfully entered the former Tractor Supply in the town of Davenport with the intent to commit larceny in April, she admitted in court that they intended to steal copper, she was released to the supervision of the Delaware County Probation Department pending sentencing in August, she will likely be sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision.

49 year old Timmy Rifenburg of Binghamton was sentenced to a total of 27 months in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for failing to register and update his registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, and for violating the terms of his supervised release, after a conviction for failure to register as a sex offender. Rifenburg was required to register as a sex offender for a 2007 federal conviction for possession of child pornography. Rifenburg of failed to report moving to a residence that was not approved by the probation office, for possessing 3 unreported internet capable cellphones, viewing pornography and for being unsuccessfully discharged from sex offender treatment.

State Police with the assistance of the Broome County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of human remains located behind the Windsor school bus garage. An investigation has determined that the deceased individual is 68 year old Edward Crampton, who was reported missing in January after his family had not seen him since Thanksgiving. No foul play is suspected in his death.
23 year old Gage Pankiewicz of Walton was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, in Delaware County Court this week. On September 4, 2024, deputies executed a search warrant in Walton on suspicion of drug trafficking. A forcible entry was made, and deputies arrested Pankiewicz, among other suspects. During the search, methamphetamine, fentanyl, packaging materials, scales, and a rifle were seized. If Pankiewicz fails to abide by the terms of his probation, he faces up to 2 1/2 years in state prison.
29 year old Tyler Long of Sidney was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison in Delaware County Court this week, for failing to abide by the terms of the Sex Offender Registry. Long had previously pleaded guilty to Failure to Register an Internet Account. Last July, the Delaware County Probation advised Sidney Police Department that Long had 6 separate unregistered email accounts that he failed to report to the Probation Department, Long’s probation supervision was terminated, and Long was sentenced to a prison term of 1 to 3 years.
Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Sunday to a weapons complaint in the Town of Maine. Deputies located a female victim bleeding from her neck and proceeded with medical aid until Emergency Medical Services transported her to UHS Wilson hospital. 27 year old Shamirah Hauer of Port Crane, had been assisting the victim with putting in hair extensions for nearly an hour before she began to strike the victim with her fists and a pair of scissors, a 3rd party stopped the assault, Hauer left the scene, the male witness called 911. Vestal Police and State Police assisted & Hauer was taken into custody without further incident, she was charged with 1st degree Assault,m she was arraigned & was being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

45 year old Thomas Stanley of South New Berlin was sentenced in Delaware County Court to 4 years in prison for Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Possession with the Intent to Sell. On April 30th , 2023, Sidney Police conducted a traffic stop with 4 passengers inside, including Thomas Stanley, it was discovered that the driver, Thomas Wright, was the subject of an Order of Protection granted to a separate passenger of the vehicle. The car was impounded and heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine packaged for sale were located. Stanley and Wright were indicted by a Grand Jury for 6 counts of drug- related felonies.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Domestic Dispute in Walton, 26-year-old Jacob Goodman of Warwick, violated an order of protection & got into a physical altercation with his wife, Goodman was charged with Criminal Contempt and Harassment, he was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility and was held for Centralized Arraignment Court.
33 year old Charles Larson of Oneonta appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to Driving While Intoxicated, Larson was sentenced to 3 years of felony probation supervision. On October 20, 2024, Colchester Police observed 2 speeding motorcycles, After conducting a traffic stop, Larson failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and he was arrested. On November 14, 2024, the Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 5-count indictment against Larson for the latest DWI, he was previously convicted of DWI within the last ten years, Larson’s license was revoked for 6 months and any vehicle he operates for the next 12 months must have an Ignition Interlock Device installed, if he violates the terms he will be re-sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle where an occupant had an open container of alcohol, a search was conducted & Deputies located cocaine and other narcotics 24 year old Maxwell Kaufman of Downsville was charged with several counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Obstructing Governmental Administration. 24 year old Treyton Hathaway of Oneonta was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a weapon. Kaufman was released on his own recognizance and Hathaway was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

Binghamton Police announced that 50 year old Scott Mitchell of Binghamton, was extradited from Florida back to Binghamton, Mitchell was wanted regarding the homicides of Daniel McCloe and Marshall VanOven, on February 3rd in Binghamton. Mitchell has been charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree murder, he was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail, anyone with information about the murders should contact Binghamton Police Detectives at (607) 772-7080
Phyllis Wheeler pleaded guilty in Chenango County Court to 2nd-degree burglary, she will be sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison followed by 5 years of post release supervision, her son, Brendan Wheeler pleaded guilty to 1st degree burglary for his role in the attack, he will likely be sentenced to a 5 year term in prison followed by 5 years post release supervision. The pair admitted to attacking the victim violently at the victims home.

The Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that Patrick Proefriedt of Colesville, pleaded guilty to 2nd degree Murder in Broome County Court. On June 26th, 2023, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office was called to 2208 Route 41 in the Town of Colesville for a report of a shooting, it was discovered that Proefriedt had shot his wife and newborn daughter with a crossbow. The child was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was released from the hospital later that day with non-life-threatening injuries, Proefiedt faces a sentence up to life in prison when sentenced at a later date.

State Police at Norwich were dispatched by the Chenango County 911 Center to State Route 12 in Oxford for a report of a vehicle on fire at about 1:20 AM Saturday.  When Troopers arrived on scene, members of the Oxford Fire Department were extinguishing the fire and discovered the driver of the vehicle was deceased.  An investigation determined that while northbound on State Route 12, the Nissan SUV went off the roadway, struck a guiderail then hit a tree and caught on fire.  The driver and only occupant, is identified as 25 year old Christopher Ojuro of New Hartford.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated an animal abuse case where multiple cats were living in a residence, the owner was advised to get the animals treatment and was provided with contacts for local humane societies and veterinary clinics, she failed to improve the living conditions of about 70 cats, the majority of the animals were voluntarily surrendered to a 3rd party. Deputies were assisted by the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society and the Delhi Veterinary Hospital in Delhi to ensure the proper care of the animals. Deputies discovered that several animals died, they arrested 66 year old Gail Kutler of Walton for 5 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals & 60 counts of animal cruelty. Kutler was taken to the Delaware County Correctional Facility where she was held for arraignment, she is scheduled to appear at a later date in the Town of Walton Court.
State Police responded Saturday to the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to the report of a deceased inmate at the facility in Marcy. 22 year old Messiah Nantwi was pronounced deceased at Wynn Hospital in Utica, the circumstances surrounding his death are part of an ongoing investigation by State Police & the Department of Corrections Special Investigations.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29 year old David Piskacek of Margaretville following a DMV records check, Piskacek’s driving privileges were suspended and revoked 25 times and he was actively on probation supervision. Deputies released Piskacek at the time and directed him to respond to Delaware County Probation at a later date. On February 19th, while at Delaware County Probation, Piskacek was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operator, operating a motor vehicle without a court ordered interlock device, and unlicensed operator. Piskacek was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on a probation violation and was directed to appear at the Town of Middletown Court at a later date.

State Attorney General Letitia James co-led a coalition of 22 other attorneys general in filing a 2nd motion for enforcement in their ongoing lawsuit against the Trump administration's illegal federal funding freeze. Despite multiple court orders, the administration has continued to block hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to the states from FEMA, which freezes emergency preparedness and recovery programs addressing wildfires, floods, cybersecurity threats, and more. Attorney General James and the coalition's second motion for enforcement, seeks a court order to require the release of funds if the Trump administration is unable to provide evidence that they have been unfrozen.

21 year old Christian Rogler of the Town of Maine, pleaded guilty in Broome County Court for Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident and Attempted Rape. Rogler's guilty plea stems from two separate criminal incidents, last September in the Town of Dickinson, Rogler struck and killed Jamel Smalls of Binghamton, and fled the scene of the crash. Rogler will be sentenced to 2 and 1/3 to 7 years in State Prison, and in 2021, in Johnson City, Rogler engaged in an attempted sexual assault of an underage person, he will receive 3 and ½ years in State Prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. Rogler is also required to register as a sex offender and a final no-contact order of protection will be issued for the victim. Sentencing is scheduled for May 28th.
34 year old Kyle Oakley of South Kortright was sentenced in Delaware County Court to state prison for violating the terms of his probation. Oakley had previously pleaded guilty in 2023, to 3rd degree Burglary because of a forced entry into a seasonal residence during March of 2022, he was sentenced to a 5-year term of felony probation supervision, in subsequent court appearances, he admitted to using illegal narcotics, Driving while intoxicated, obstructing governmental administration and this week, Oakley made further admissions to violating the terms of his probation. Oakley was sentenced to an indeterminate term of imprisonment to last no less than one year and no more than three years.
The Otsego County Solid Waste Department is continuing with the annual Plastic Film Recycling Challenge where Otsego County Schools recycle things like bread bags, Grocery bags Bubble wraps & bring it to Trex Affiliated business where the totals are counted. State Police executed a search warrant in the town of Springfield for possible animal neglect. The investigation resulted in the removal of over 2-dozen animals. 8 dogs, 13 cats and 1 turtle were in need of immediate medical care and were turned over to the care of the Susquehanna SPCA. State Police were assisted by the Otsego County Emergency Services and the DEC, The investigation is on-going, charges are likely.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30 year old Joseph Schneider of Albany & 35 year old Samuel Smith of Hamilton on a number of drug charges, in North Norwich. Due to recent burglaries and larceny complaints Deputies were conducting property checks at storage units, when they observed a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located a quantity of Methamphetamine, packaging material, and a scale inside the vehicle. Schneider and Smith were taken into custody without incident. Both were arraigned and were released on their own recognizance. Schneider and Smith are to appear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35 year old Steven Torres-Figueroa of Smyrna for 2 counts of Menacing a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest, after investigation into a disabled vehicle complaint in the Town of Smyrna. Deputies located Torres-Figueroa, who became irate that his vehicle was getting towed for being a traffic & snow removal hazard. Torres-Figueroa went into his residence and retrieved a kitchen knife and began to approach the Deputies and Troopers on scene aggressively and disobey commands to comply. Deputies and Troopers were able to subdue Torres-Figueroa, he was arraigned in Chenango County Court and remanded to the Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail while awaiting his next court date.

Charges have been brought against individuals involved in the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks in December at Marcy Correctional Facility. On Thursday in Oneida County Court, it was announced that individuals involved with the incident have been charged with murder, manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Charged with manslaughter were Sgt. Michael Mashaw: plus Officers David Walters & Michael Fisher, charged with Murder: Officer David Kingsley, Matthew Galliher, Nicholas Anzalone, Anthony Farina & Christopher Walrath, also, Nicholas Gentile was charged with tampering with evidence.
20 year old Elijah O’Neill of Unadilla was sentenced to 6 months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility to be followed by five years of probation supervision. Last July 26, the Village of Sidney Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on River Street, Elijah O’Neill was the driver of one of the vehicles. Sgt. Dionne discovered a loaded 40 caliber Glock in the vehicle, O'Neill admitted that it was his pistol, and that he did not have a pistol permit, it was discovered that the firearm was stolen. O'Neill pleaded guilty in County Court in November & was sentenced this week.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 18 year old Kayla Gonsalves of Maryland New York with 14 counts of Grand Larceny, for allegedly using a debit card that she had no permission to use and attempted to make multiple transactions through Door Dash. Gonsalves was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

The State Health Department is currently tracking 3 strains of the flu in New York State, with 48,000 new cases reported the week of January 18th to the 24, a 46% increase from the previous week. The state reports a total of over 177,000 cases of all 3 flu strains, over 11,000 have been hospitalized from influenza, there have been 2 pediatric deaths this flu season.
Michael Beilby of East Meredith was resentenced in Delaware County Court for violating the terms of his felony probation supervision. On September 25, 2020, Michael Beilby killed 2 people in a motor vehicle crash, he was driving while using drugs and using his cell phone, he pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Criminally Negligent Homicide & was sentenced to a split term of 6 months incarceration, followed by 5 years of probation supervision, and he was required to not use any illegal drugs or alcohol. The Delaware County Department of Probation accused Beilby of cocaine use and he avoided mandatory drug treatment appointments. Beilby admitted to those allegations & Judge Rosa ordered that Beilby be returned to probation supervision and start attending sessions of the Adult Treatment Court..

Norwich Police Department arrested 23 year old Cody Amidon of Norwich for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief & Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer. After brief vehicle pursuit, Amidon was blocked in a parking lot of the apartment complex, he refused to exit his car and struck a marked Norwich patrol vehicle with his car. Officers were eventually able to take Amidon into custody and they located a loaded .22 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat. Amidon is being held on no bail due to two prior felony convictions, as well as a New York State Parole warrant.

Crews in the Village of Bainbridge repaired a broken water main break on West Main Street this morning. Water was shut off in the area of the break for a few hours, the water was turned back on & affected village residents do NOT have to boil water.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 28 year old Ladrina Graham of Worcester for Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; 6 counts of Failure to Provide Sustenance plus Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Graham was arrested following a complaint of an injured dog in the town of Worcester, after filing for a search warrant and finding a deceased dog and 5 living dogs in unsanitary conditions, Graham was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Worcester Court at a later date. The deceased dog was sent to Cornell University for a necropsy and further charges are pending at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 63-year-old Dale Davis of Edmeston is facing charges, after he lost control of his pickup truck in Bridgewater Saturday and rolled down a hill. Davis is accused of striking a female EMT in the face, who was trying to help him out of the truck in the face. Davis is charged with Aggravated DWI and Obstructing Emergency Medical Services. He was arraigned and released on a future court date.

49 year old Keith Audette of Hamden, appeared in Delaware County Court and was sentenced to a 5-year term of probation supervision for the crime of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Audette had previously appeared in Delaware County Court in November and entered a plea of guilty to the charge, he had been previously convicted of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated in Chenango County Court in 2015, he also admitted that he drove a motor vehicle in the Village of Walton on April 9, 2024, while under the influence of methamphetamine. Audette was also ordered to pay fines, fees, and a surcharge at a total amount of $1,570, his license was revoked, and he was ordered to provide a sample of his DNA for inclusion in the state DNA data base. If he violates any of the terms of probation, he may be re-sentenced to one and one third to four years in state prison.

State Police responded yesterday afternoon to at about 3:50 pm to a 3-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 7 and County Highway 9 in the town of Oneonta. A preliminary investigation determined that a BMW was traveling on State Highway 7 when it struck a Toyota from behind while the Toyota was waiting to turn left onto County Highway 9, the Toyota was pushed into the path of a Chevrolet SUV and they collided head-on. The operator of the BMW, a 76-year-old male was pronounced deceased on scene, it is unknown at this time whether he died as a result of the collision or if he suffered a medical event. The operator of the Toyota, a 24-year-old male was transported to A.O Fox Hospital, The operator of the Chevrolet SUV, a 52-year-old male with 3 children were checked out on scene but not transported. The investigation is on-going.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 year old Randall Harmon of Sherburne for Criminal Contempt & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, after he violated specific conditions of an Order of Protection. Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & Parole Officers made a home visit, in the home Officers located a female subject & a child, who had an order of protection against Harmon, Officers seized methamphetamine. Harmon was taken to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing, he was then remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on an active Parole Warrant as a result of the previous charges.
23 year old Bryce Farrell of Sidney appeared in Delaware County Court and pleaded guilty to Attempted Burglary, he admitted that on July 28, 2023, in the Village of Walton, he entered a building he did not have permission to be in for the purpose of committing a crime, 3 days later, an individual reported to Walton Police Department that his residence had been broken into and a safe stolen. Investigators reviewed security footage, identified Farrell as one of the burglars, an arrest warrant was issued & Farrell was apprehended by State Police in November. Judge Hubbard ordered the Delaware County Probation Department to conduct a pre-sentencing report. His sentencing is tentatively scheduled for March 11th.

36 year old Spencer Gransbury of Walton pleaded guilty to Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, in Delaware County Court Tuesday, Gransbury admitted that he downloaded a photograph of a child approximately ten years old engaged in sexual conduct. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a Cybertip of child sex abuse material being viewed with a phone, which was traced to Gransbury, he was sentenced to 10 years felony probation with sex offenders’ terms and conditions, he is banned from entering any place that children congregate, and all of his devices will also be subjected to monitoring by the Delaware County Probation Department, he will also be required to register as a sex offender for at least 20 years.
18 year old Armony Murphy of Endicott was sentenced to 6 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree yesterday in Broome County Court. On August 18, 2024, Murphy engaged in a verbal altercation with residents of 6 Catherine Street in Binghamton, she fired multiple rounds at the residents and the house.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle with equipment issues in Walton, they conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the occupants, 37-year-old Aaron Howard, 36-year-old Courtney Condon and 75-year-old Joan Howard, all of Walton. Aaron Howard and Courtney Condon had an active full stay away order of protection in place, protecting Joan Howard from them. Deputies charged Joan Howard with Obstructing Governmental Administration and Facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operator. Condon was charged with Criminal Contempt, Aaron Howard was charged with Criminal Contempt and Obstructing Governmental Administration, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator & a number of other lesser traffic violations. All 3 were processed and released on appearance tickets for the Village of Walton Court at a later date.

50 year old Kevin Harrington of Oneonta was sentenced to serve a 3-year term of federal probation and ordered to pay over $150,000.00 in restitution to his former employer, for his previous guilty plea to 2 counts of mail fraud. Harrington admitted that while he was the executive director at First Community Care of Bassett, he submitted fraudulent expense reports seeking reimbursement for the purchase of CPAP machines that were not purchased. Harrington was ordered to serve six months of home confinement and was fined $5,500.00.

Vogel was charged with 1 count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for selling Fentanyl, Vogel was remanded back to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on separate and unrelated charges and is scheduled to re-appear at the Delaware County Court at a later date.
The State Department of Labor announced that Private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 11,900, to 8,409,100 in November. New York State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held constant at 4.4% in November, the labor force participation rate held constant at 61.2%.
Delaware County Sheriff Office arrested 23 year old Dakota Mann of Walton for an assault on a Corrections Officer. On Tuesday, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to the Delaware County Jail to assist the Correctional Division regarding the assault, Mann is alleged to have punched a Corrections Officer in the head, he was arrested and charged with 2nd degree Assault, he was arraigned and was remanded back to the Delaware County Jail.
64 year old Douglas Webb admitted in Chenango County Court to offering a false instrument for filing with the intent to defraud, he admitted to misleading Sherburne Earlville school officials on an application, where Webb allegedly did not disclose a 1987 conviction. Webb was originally indicted for offering a false instrument for filing with the intent to defraud, falsifying business records, plus 3 counts of forcible touching, and 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, while serving a bus driver for the district.

50 year old Andras Kasuba of Brooklyn pleaded guilty to DWI & Aggravated Vehicular Assault, in Delaware County Court, on March 18, 2023, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 26, Kasuba was the driver of one of the vehicles. 3 individuals needed extraction due to serious physical injuries sustained in the accident, Kasuba was intoxicated at the time of the collision and had caused the crash, he had a blood alcohol content of 2.5 times the legal limit. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced nearly $220 million in federal funding to support counter-terrorism and emergency preparedness efforts across New York State. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded last month to a Harassment complaint in the Town of Davenport. 75-year-old George Sydlar of Davenport had engaged in a course of conduct, which alarmed or annoyed another person, and Deputies requested a criminal summons to be issued by the Davenport Town Court, last week Deputies arrested Sydlar, he is scheduled to return to the Davenport Town Court at a later date. Sydlar was sentenced to 30 days in jail earlier this year after he falsely reported that his neighbor committed a crime, and he refused to cooperate with authorities during the investigation.

49 year old Keith Audette of Hamden pleaded guilty to Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, in Delaware County Court Tuesday, Audette admitted that he had been previously convicted of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated in Chenango County in 2015, he also admitted that he drove a motor vehicle in the Village of Walton on April 9th while under the influence of methamphetamine. Audette is expected to be sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision, and his license will be revoked, he will also be required to pay any fines and surcharges imposed by the Court.

State Forest Rangers remain on the scene of a 5,304-acre fire in the town of Warwick. The Jennings Creek fire is now 90 percent contained. The Statewide Burn Ban remains in effect until November 30th.
20 year old Elijah O’Neill of Unadilla pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Firearm. On July 26, Sidney Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on River Street, O’Neill was the driver of 1 of the vehicles, a loaded 40 caliber Glock was observed next to the driver side door, O'Neill admitted that it was his pistol, he did not have a pistol permit, the firearm had been previously reported as stolen. O'Neill will be sentenced to 6 months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility, and then 5 years of felony probation supervision.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Timothy Melius of Pittsfield following a visit by the Otsego County Probation Department. Melius was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon & 3 counts of Criminal Contempt for possessing of firearms & ammunition despite having multiple court orders prohibiting him from possessing them. Melius was taken in to custody and transported to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office for processing, he was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pittsfield Court for the above charges. The defendant was then transported to the Otsego County Probation Department where he was processed on a probation violation and arraigned in the presence of an Otsego County Court magistrate. Following arraignment, the defendant was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await further court proceedings.

33 year old Shaun Carman of Walton pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Delaware County Court last week. Carman admitted that on March 13th, in the Village of Delhi, he possessed a quantity of fentanyl with the intent to sell it, he will be sentenced to 2 years in state prison, followed by 1 year of post release supervision, he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending final sentencing on December 16th.
41 year old Brian Canfield of Greene appeared in Delaware County Court for sentencing for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Back on February 17th, Sidney police observed a vehicle parked and running with headlights on at the Sidney Memorial Public Library after the library was closed, a male was slumped over in the driver’s seat. Canfield failed the Standard Field Sobriety Testing, & drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle, Canfield admitted that he was under the influence of Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl. Canfield was sentenced to 5 years’ felony probation, if he violates the conditions of his probation, he is subject to being re-sentenced to 1 and 1/3 to 4 years in State Prison.
23 year old Zachary Hoffman Kowatch of Oneonta was sentenced to 5 years of probation for his guilty plea to Attempted Reckless Endangerment, he was arrested on May 9th by State Police in Fleischmanns, for allegedly swerving his vehicle at a bicyclist and for yelling antisemitic slurs.

Delaware County Board of Supervisors Chairperson Tina Mole issued a State of Emergency and instituted a county-wide burn ban as a prolonged lack of rainfall has caused abnormally dry environmental conditions, including dry ground cover which has increased substantially, leading to a significantly elevated risk of wildfires. The county-wide burn ban is in effect for all open burning, including, but campfires, brush piles, burn barrels, wood-stove ash dumping, leaf/yard debris, and torches or other devices containing an open flame.
Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the unsealing of an indictment against 35 year old Darl Ellis Jr. of Binghamton, after a Grand Jury indicted Ellis. The indictments charged Ellis with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing Governmental Administration, he is accused of possessing cocaine, if convicted, he faces up to five and a half years in State Prison. Ellis was arraigned before the Delaware County Court, bail was set at $10,000 cash or $100,000 bond. The case is set for a pre-trial conference on November 4, 2024.
On Friday, Broome County Law Enforcement Academy held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024 at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton. This year, 34 graduates representing 12 law enforcement agencies earned the rank of Officer or Deputy Sheriff, after 6 months of training. 2 of the Officers have been added to the Norwich City Police Department.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 43 year old Thomas Toomer of Oxford for multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 1 count of Aggravated Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 1 count of Criminal Contempt. Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to Toomer’s residence to serve an eviction notice, Toomer and an additional occupant of the residence were removed, the other occupant had an order of protection against Toomer. Toomer was then taken into custody without incident. Several firearms, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines were located in the residence. Toomer had 3 previous Felony convictions & was not allowed to have firearms, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail pending additional court action in Chenango County Court.

The Chenango County Weekly Wastewater Surveillance Data Report shows an increase in COVID levels over the past 3 weeks, and compared to levels found across New York State’s average, levels of COVID are elevated and described as higher than average in Chenango County. The Otsego County Department of Health reports that a skunk from the town of Middlefield has tested positive for rabies. The skunk was found acting abnormally. Several farm animals were exposed to the skunk. All animals were up to date with their rabies vaccine. The State Dec Environmental Conservation Police Officers responded in May about a full-body leopard mount listed for sale on social media for $2,500. Officers identified the seller and determined they did not possess the permits required in New York State to sell the leopard for sale for $2500 in Delaware County. EnCon Officer Osborne responded to the seller’s location, seized the leopard and charged the individual with commercialization of endangered wildlife, As part of the legal resolution, the seller agreed to pay a $2,500 fine and forfeit the mount. ?DEC Officials stated that it is illegal to sell endangered or protected species in New York without the proper permits, more information on requirements to legally sell mounts or items containing parts of endangered species, is available at the DEC’s Special Licenses page.
47 year old Grady Hunter of Johnson City was found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon by a Broome County Jury Tuesday after deliberating for less than 2 hours. On May 31, 2023, Hunter, was arrested by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit after he was found to be in possession of a loaded and operable .380 caliber handgun, after a search warrant was executed on his vehicle in the City of Binghamton. Sentencing is scheduled for November 27, 2024, where Grady will be sentenced to State Prison.

State Police in Troop “C” was alerted to a widely shared Facebook post regarding an alleged attempted abduction of a child on Dingman Hill in Bainbridge on August 26, The investigation concluded that no attempted abduction occurred. Troopers and Investigators canvassed the area and interviewed the two individuals in the reported pick-up truck. Both the driver and passenger were cooperative and explained their lawful reason for being in the area, no crime was committed.
56 year old Claude Manon of Margaretville, pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in Delaware County Court Monday, for stealing over $3,000 in cash from a home he was doing work in on February 1, in the Town of Middletown. Manon appeared in Delaware County Court for a conference on the charges, after that, he pleaded guilty to the charge, he will be sentenced to 6 months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility, to be followed by 5 years of felony probation supervision, he was ordered to pay restitution, he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending sentencing.
The State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of the following overnight lane closures along Interstate 81 in the Town of Dickinson, Broome County, to facilitate pavement repairs. Tonight at 8:00 PM Thursday, I-81 southbound will be reduced to two lanes of traffic between Exit 5 and I-88 interchange, the lanes will re-open Friday Morning.

Sidney Police Department in a joint operation with NYS Parole, Otsego County Probation Department and State Police executed a search warrant at 22 Lincoln Ave in the Village of Sidney, which resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and xylazine, Police arrested 41 year old Darcee Lewis of Sidney for Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, & 43 year old Lloyd Hunt of Sidney, for Criminal possession of a controlled substance, Lewis was processed and transported to Delaware County Jail to await arraignment, Hunt was processed and released on an appearance ticket. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force approached a vehicle in a parking lot & 2 people were spotted asleep inside the vehicle, and narcotics paraphernalia were in plain view, Officers located 48 grams of meth. The Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence of one of the people in the vehicle, Logan Tribe-Filhart, Items used for packaging narcotics were found in the residence. Tribe-Filhart was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia.

The Delaware County DA's Office announced that 32 year old James Lor of Margaretville pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals in Delaware County Court this week. Lor admitted that he had killed a dog, he was sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in jail for committing this act, which violated the terms of his probation.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 39 year old Michael Hitchcock of Otego for Criminal possession of a controlled substance & on an existing warrant, Hitchcock was arrested following an investigation into a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Oneonta, he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, and was wanted on a warrant from Oneonta Police, he was processed & issued an appearance ticket, he was then transported to Oneonta Police Department and turned over to answer his outstanding warrant.

The Oneonta Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 14-year-old Damian Barton who was last seen in the area of The Plains Cemetery on Oneida Street in the Town of Oneonta on Wednesday, at approximately 7:00 PM. Damian was supposed to have returned home last night but failed to do so. Anyone with any information on the location of Damian is asked to contact the Oneonta Police Department at 607-432-1111, a picture is posted on the Oneonta Police Department Facebook page.
The Annual Chenango County Fair will run from August 7th to the 11th this year at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich, with some activities happening on Tuesday August 6th, according to spokesperson Mary Weidman:

The West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Rockland County, New York City & officials state that it can easily move to the Southern Tier, Mohawk Valley & North Country with extended summer heat, thunderstorms & areas of standing water, where mosquitoes breed.
Delaware County DA's Office announced that 35 year old Dimitri Escrich of Deposit was sentenced sentenced to 10 years of felony probation supervision, with sex offender terms and conditions, he was also ordered to pay fines and surcharges of $1,425, after he pleaded guilty to Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. If Escrich violates the terms of his probation supervision, he is subject to being re-sentenced to 1.3 to 4 years in state prison.
