44 year old Richard Robinson of Holland Patent pleaded guilty to Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in Delaware County Court Tuesday. Robinson was an inmate at the Delaware County Correctional Facility on April 17th, he had 2 small plastic bags with a white powdery residue in a brown paper bag, the substance tested positive for methamphetamine. The case was presented to the Delaware County Grand Jury, Robinson was indicted for Promoting Prison Contraband & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, sentencing will be on August 25th, Robinson is expected to be sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in jail.

A Homeland Security Task Force Investigation Resulted in Convictions for 11 Drug Traffickers from across the Southern Tier, around the state and in Michigan. The 11 defendants involved in an organization distributing large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and other drugs primarily from 2019 to 2021 through Broome, Tioga and Chemung Counties, they also unlawfully possessed firearms as felons or in furtherance of their drug trafficking. Law enforcement seized methamphetamine, & other drugs, over 65 firearms, cash and ATVs. Among those convicted 55 year old David Wemmer, 37 year old David Cobb & 50 year old Brandon Vanorman, all from Spencer, 38 year old Shawn McCabe of Windsor, 39 year old Philip Acciarito of Owego, , 44 year old Jennifer Patton of Spencer & 39 year old Eini Raupers of Candor.

51 year old David Louden of Sidney pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt Monday in Delaware County Court, on December 13th, Sidney Police were dispatched when Louden, who was barred from contacting either the victim or the child, was outside knocking at the front door at 2:45 am, Louden fled the scene, but On January 11, Sidney police located & arrested Louden. Sentencing is scheduled to take place on July 15.

Broome County Sheriff Road Patrol deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Anderson Road in the Town of Nanticoke early Sunday. Deputies found a 2013 Chevrolet over an embankment on the side of the road, 2 of the 5 occupants in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center. 20 year old Isaac Brown of Whitney Point stated he was operating the vehicle without a license and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the accident. Brown was charged with DWI, Vehicular Assault, Aggravated Vehicular Assault & Numerous Traffic Violations, Brown was arraigned and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Nanticoke Court at a later date.

State Police announced that 41 year old David Maycumber of Newfield, was indicted by the Tioga County Grand Jury and was arraigned before the Tioga County Court for 1st & 2nd Degree murder, Kidnapping and Intimidating a witness, in connection with the kidnapping & murder of Thomas Rath in Tioga County earlier this year. To date, 13 subjects have been arrested for various felonies regarding the murder investigation of Thomas Rath.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 31-year-old Cachet Fernandez, who is a registered as a level 2 sex offender, he is described as a black male with brown hair, brown eyes, and is approximately 5’7” tall, anyone with information should contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office 607-832-5629 or contact local law enforcement agency.

State Police arrested 63 year old David Brown of Candor for 100 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Owego with the assistance from the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit, conducted an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation and determined that Brown was in possession of numerous videos depicting child pornography. Brown is scheduled to appear in the Candor Town Court on December 4th.

State Police And the Division of Criminal Justice Services released a Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert today. 34 year old Tatiana David from Ithaca was last seen this morning at about 7:20 AM and may have been abducted. David is described as a black woman about 5'9" tall and about 180 pounds, with black hair & brown eyes, she was last seen with 35 year old Michael David, who was driving a white Jeep Cherokee, they may be headed through this area heading for New York City. Police said that Davis is a black man, 6'4" tall about 200 pounds with black hair & brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call 911, or 607-561-7400.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for Tanya McGreal on an outstanding warrant, she was last known to frequent the Colesville Road area of the Town of Colesville. McGreal is a white female, 5'5" about 135 pounds, with brown hair & brown eyes, she is wanted for 3rd degree burglary. The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 26 year old Taykwann Browne of Brooklyn on Wednesday, he was wanted by the New York City Police Department on a homicide charge. Officers spotted Brown operating a motor vehicle in Binghamton, he attempted to flee at a high rate of speed, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident a short time later. Brown fled the accident scene on foot & he was taken into custody a short time later. Police seized a loaded handgun, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, Brown was charged with Attempted Assault, Reckless Endangerment, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon plus Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest & Criminal Trespass.

The Rogers Center’s Board of Directors has hired David Carson to lead the environmental education center as the new executive director. Carson is a Central New York Native, the public is invited to meet Carson and the entire staff at Rogers’ annual Winter Living Celebration, Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.

Tomorrow On Tuesday, State Senator Fred Akshar, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Johnson City Police Chief Brent Dodge and representatives of the State Department of Transportation will join local officials, family and community members to dedicate a portion of New York Route 17C the Patrolman David 'DW' Smith Memorial Highway in the Village of Johnson City. The dedication will begin at 11:00am at the Johnson City Police Department, Officer Smith served with the Johnson City Police Department for 18 1/2 years, in 2014, he was fatally shot after responding to a disturbance at a local business.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints involving a scam that is occurring nationwide. The callers are identifying themselves as Chenango County Sheriff's Office personnel and informing people by phone that they have an active arrest warrant and requesting gift cards be sent to rectify the outstanding warrant. Chenango County Sheriff's Office personnel will never call to request money or gift cards for any criminal matters.

State Police are searching for 16 year old Connor McLean of Peru New York, who was last seen on September 27th, at 8:00 pm near his residence. McLean is approximately 5’10 feet tall, and weighs approximately 190 pounds, he was wearing blue hoodie, shorts, brown slippers with socks, & was carrying a black backpack. State Police released more details regarding a 2 vehicle crash in Conklin last Friday Morning. Police stated that 4-year-old Kaylynn Mendez has passed away from injuries sustained, while a passenger in a Dodge driven by 36 year old Michael McDonald of Conklin. McDonald, Mendez & 1 other passenger were taken to Wilson Hospital, 2 others were airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. The Driver of the 2nd vehicle, 53 year old Christopher Davidson of Owego was evaluated at the the scene & was released, The investigation into the crash is on-going.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials are looking for Casey Lyons from the Town of Union, who is wanted for violation terms of probation for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and his Sex Offender Registration terms. Lyons is a white male with short-cropped brown hair, hazel eyes and a mustache and goatee, he stands six-feet, one-inch tall and weighs 170 pounds. The Broome County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident Tuesday, where 43 year old David Koshinski of Johnson City crashed his pickup truck, which overturned, on Route 12 in the town of Chenango. Koshinski is accused of attempting to drive the vehicle away from the crash scene, he was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely & operating a vehicle with no windshield and operating a vehicle with no left-side mirror.

Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a last-minute commutation to David Gilbert, who was convicted of 3 murders in the 1981 killings of Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O’Grady, Police Officer Waverly Brown and Brink’s Guard Peter Paige. Law Enforcement officials around the state are calling the Gilbert commutation reprehensible, including Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond:

Former Governor Cuomo’s actions will allow David Gilbert to have his case heard by a Parole Board after spending 40 years in Jail, Sheriff DuMond said that the same Parole Board has released 15 cop killers from prison since 2017.

On Sunday, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25-year-old David Reed of Hamden on 1 count of 2nd degree Rape. Reed is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a child less than 15 years old. Reed was arraigned in Delhi Town Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1000 bail; A Felony hearing is scheduled for Delhi Town Court at a later date.

State Police announced a "Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert" in the Southern Tier, for 78-year-old William Caloroso of Nichols, who is missing since Sunday. Caloroso is described as a white Male, 5’10", about 160 pounds with Brown Hair & eyes, he suffers from Alzheimer's disease and may be in need of medical attention. He was last seen on River Road in Nichols, at 8:30 PM last night, driving a 2010 dark blue Chevrolet Impala with New York license plate GDY-8262. He was wearing a flannel shirt, blue pants, and may be wearing a baseball hat that says Sidney on top. Anyone with information is asked to call State police at 561-7400 or at 911.

Broome County Sheriff David Harder reminded the area public today that they are still looking for Brenda Halpin of the town of Chenango. Halpin is a 37 year old white female, only 5 foot tall & weighing about 90-95 pounds. She was last seen wearing pajamas and may have on a black coat and sneakers. She has long brown straight hair and wears glasses. Brenda suffers from Huntington’s disease which affects her physical abilities including walking normally. Halpin was last seen at her residence on Poplar Hill Road in Chenango Bridge on Friday, April 8th, Anyone with any information is urged to call the Broome County Sheriff’s Office at 778-1911.

The Johnson City Police Department invites the community to pay tribute to fallen Officer David Smith by donating blood at a special blood drive in his memory today. Smith was killed in the line of duty 2 years ago while responding to a 911 call. A New York state missing vulnerable adult alert has been issued out of Tompkins county, 81 year old David Sprague has been reported missing, since Thursday afternoon. He is described as white male, 5’11”, 157 pounds, he was last seen at about 2:30 PM Thursday in Ithaca, driving a brown Buick Lacrosse with license plate number 182-ACL. Sprague suffers from dementia and has medical issues, anyone with information is asked to call 272-2444 or 911.

State Police are currently looking for a 67 year old New Jersey man who was reported missing from his hunting cabin on Streeter Hill Road in the Town of Harpersfield, Delaware County. John Bourgholtzer is a white male who is 6’ tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has grey hair and brown eyes Mr. Bourgholtzer was last seen on December 12, 2015, at about 8:00 a.m., leaving his camp to go hunting by himself. He may be driving his 2011 Ford Focus with New Jersey license plates KDN45E. Anyone with information please call the New York State Police at (607) 561-7400.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old David Franklin of Oxford for 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Detectives arrested Franklin while investigating a Larceny from an Oneida County Business; Detectives located and recovered the stolen property in Franklin’s possession in the City of Norwich. Franklin was arrested and arraigned on a Chenango County Court Warrant and was remanded without bail, he was issued appearance tickets to appear at a later date in City of Norwich Court. Additional charges are pending in Oneida County.

51-year-old Joyce Mitchell pleaded guilty to 2 charges in connection with helping inmates David Sweat and Richard Matt escape the Clinton Correctional Facility in June. Mitchell was a tailor shop instructor who provided the inmates with tools hidden in frozen hamburger meat, she pleaded guilty today to promoting prison contraband and criminal facilitation. She could serve a sentence of 2 1/2 to 7 years in prison.

The Chenango Arts Council announced the acceptance of Request for Proposals from New York State artists for exhibition in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries, located in CAC facilities at 27 West Main Street, Norwich. The proposal deadline is January 6th, 2016, with a jurying process occurring mid-January for exhibition in the following year. There is no fee for submission, and CAC staff is available for technical assistance with the application process. Also, the Arts Council, the Norwich Business Improvement District and the Norwich Rotary Club, announced a “Call for Artists” for the Chenango Public Arts Initiative for this fall, Artists of all mediums are encouraged to submit applications by August 14 for a September 11th opening. The Broome County Sheriff's Office is actively looking for a 16-year-old run away. Deputies responded to the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference in the Town of Fenton, where Mia Rosado took a bus to the Elmira, area - but could still be in the Broome County area. Mia was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Binghamton Mayor Rich David announced that the City of Binghamton has reinstated Police Chief Joseph Zikuski. Mayor David stated that they reviewed an independent review of accusations against Chief Zikuski by the law firm of Coughlin & Gerhart. Mayor David said that the there were no complaints or evidence of harassment or discrimination by Zikuski, who was on a 60-day unpaid suspension that ended today.

New York State is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and arrest of Richard Matt and David Sweat, who escaped from the Clinton correctional facility. Governor Andrew Cuomo commented:

David Sweat is 34 years old; white, 5’11” tall, 165 pounds, brown hair and green eyes, with tattoos on his left bicep and his right fingers. Sweat is serving a sentence of life without parole for the Murder of Broome County Deputy Kevin Tarsia on July 4, 2002. Richard Matt is 48 years old, white, 6’ tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his back: “Mexico Forever”, a heart on his chest and left shoulder, and a Marine Corps insignia on his right shoulder, he is serving a sentence of 25 years to life for 3 counts of murder, 3 counts of kidnapping, and 2 counts of robbery after he kidnapped a male victim and caused his death on December 3, 1997. Both are considered dangerous, if located DO NOT approach them, call 911.

Governor Cuomo announced that the state Troopers PBA, the State Association of Chiefs of Police, & 28 Sheriffs have joined the “Enough is Enough” campaign to combat sexual assault on the state’s college campuses. The Governor's proposal would codify uniform sexual assault prevention and response protocols for all colleges and universities in New York. Among the local law enforcement that have now expressed support are Broome County Sheriff David Harder & Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills. The Delaware County Department of Corrections announced that the 4th annual Andrew Brown Memorial Golf Tournament would be held tomorrow at Hardwood Hills gold Course in Masonville, with a tee time of 8:30 AM. Organizers announced that the money raise with this years tournament will go to the family of Johnson City Police officer David Smith, who was shot & killed in the line of duty on March 31st.

Governor Cuomo's campaign will not appeal a ruling allowing Zephyr Teachout to remain in the Democratic primary. A state appeals court rejected the campaign's argument that Teachout has spent part of the past five years in Vermont. A lower court had already ruled Teachout could stay on the ballot for the September 9th primary. Teachout teaches at Fordham University Law School in New York City. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found 85 percent of state Democrats said they know too little about Teachout to have any opinion of her.

Republicans in both houses of the legislature are urging the Assembly leadership to pass Brittany’s Law, to create a registry of violent felony offenders, similar to the sex offender registry created under Megan’s Law. Assemblyman Cliff Crouch supports the bill:

Brittany’s Law has advanced in the Senate in each of the last 4 years, it is named after 12 year old Brittany Passalacqua who was murdered in 2009 in Geneva, by John Edward Brown, who was on parole after serving time for violently assaulting his infant daughter, Brittany’s family was unaware of his violent history.

Former Governor David Paterson will take over as chairman of the state Democratic Party, as party leaders from across New York kick off their convention today on Long Island. Paterson became governor in 2008 when Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned following a prostitution scandal. Democrats will begin nominating their statewide ticket today; a new poll shows their candidates with commanding leads.

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested 50-year-old Phillip Brown of Morris for DWI, driving with BAC .08 of alcohol, and failure to keep right.   Brown was arrested following a traffic stop for moving violations in the Town of Sherburne, where officers determined that Brown was operating the motor vehicle in an intoxicated state.   Brown will appear in the Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch will be hosting a roundtable Education Summit on Thursday, June 27th at 6:00 pm at the Chenango Valley High School. The roundtable will feature a discussion with Chenango Valley School District Interim Superintendent David Gill, New York State Regent James Tallon, Southern Tier area teachers and parents on Annual Professional Performance Reviews, Common Core, state testing, and unfunded mandates.

Former State Senate Majority Leader John Sampson of Brooklyn was taken into custody by the FBI on federal corruption charges this morning.   Sampson is accused of embezzling about $440,000 in funds involving the sale of foreclosed properties.  Sampson was charged with embezzlement, obstruction of justice and witness tampering, he is the 5th downstate lawmaker to be arrested in recent weeks; he was the leader of the state senate during the administration of Governor David Paterson.

Binghamton City police are looking for a 25-year-old Michael Pruitt of Binghamton an arrest warrant from Binghamton City Court for third-degree criminal mischief.  Pruitt is described as white, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, anyone with information is asked to contact the Binghamton Police Warrant Division at 772-7044.
