44 year old Richard Robinson of Holland Patent pleaded guilty to Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in Delaware County Court Tuesday. Robinson was an inmate at the Delaware County Correctional Facility on April 17th, he had 2 small plastic bags with a white powdery residue in a brown paper bag, the substance tested positive for methamphetamine. The case was presented to the Delaware County Grand Jury, Robinson was indicted for Promoting Prison Contraband & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, sentencing will be on August 25th, Robinson is expected to be sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in jail.

A Homeland Security Task Force Investigation Resulted in Convictions for 11 Drug Traffickers from across the Southern Tier, around the state and in Michigan. The 11 defendants involved in an organization distributing large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and other drugs primarily from 2019 to 2021 through Broome, Tioga and Chemung Counties, they also unlawfully possessed firearms as felons or in furtherance of their drug trafficking. Law enforcement seized methamphetamine, & other drugs, over 65 firearms, cash and ATVs. Among those convicted 55 year old David Wemmer, 37 year old David Cobb & 50 year old Brandon Vanorman, all from Spencer, 38 year old Shawn McCabe of Windsor, 39 year old Philip Acciarito of Owego, , 44 year old Jennifer Patton of Spencer & 39 year old Eini Raupers of Candor.

51 year old David Louden of Sidney pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt Monday in Delaware County Court, on December 13th, Sidney Police were dispatched when Louden, who was barred from contacting either the victim or the child, was outside knocking at the front door at 2:45 am, Louden fled the scene, but On January 11, Sidney police located & arrested Louden. Sentencing is scheduled to take place on July 15.
Broome County Sheriff Road Patrol deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Anderson Road in the Town of Nanticoke early Sunday. Deputies found a 2013 Chevrolet over an embankment on the side of the road, 2 of the 5 occupants in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center. 20 year old Isaac Brown of Whitney Point stated he was operating the vehicle without a license and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the accident. Brown was charged with DWI, Vehicular Assault, Aggravated Vehicular Assault & Numerous Traffic Violations, Brown was arraigned and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Nanticoke Court at a later date.

State Police announced that 41 year old David Maycumber of Newfield, was indicted by the Tioga County Grand Jury and was arraigned before the Tioga County Court for 1st & 2nd Degree murder, Kidnapping and Intimidating a witness, in connection with the kidnapping & murder of Thomas Rath in Tioga County earlier this year. To date, 13 subjects have been arrested for various felonies regarding the murder investigation of Thomas Rath.

State Police arrested 63 year old David Brown of Candor for 100 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Owego with the assistance from the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit, conducted an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation and determined that Brown was in possession of numerous videos depicting child pornography. Brown is scheduled to appear in the Candor Town Court on December 4th.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested 26 year old Taykwann Browne of Brooklyn on Wednesday, he was wanted by the New York City Police Department on a homicide charge. Officers spotted Brown operating a motor vehicle in Binghamton, he attempted to flee at a high rate of speed, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident a short time later. Brown fled the accident scene on foot & he was taken into custody a short time later. Police seized a loaded handgun, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, Brown was charged with Attempted Assault, Reckless Endangerment, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon plus Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest & Criminal Trespass.
The Rogers Center’s Board of Directors has hired David Carson to lead the environmental education center as the new executive director. Tomorrow On Tuesday, State Senator Fred Akshar, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Johnson City Police Chief Brent Dodge and representatives of the State Department of Transportation will join local officials, family and community members to dedicate a portion of New York Route 17C the Patrolman David 'DW' Smith Memorial Highway in the Village of Johnson City. The dedication will begin at 11:00am at the Johnson City Police Department, Officer Smith served with the Johnson City Police Department for 18 1/2 years, in 2014, he was fatally shot after responding to a disturbance at a local business.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints involving a scam that is occurring nationwide. The callers are identifying themselves as Chenango County Sheriff's Office personnel and informing people by phone that they have an active arrest warrant and requesting gift cards be sent to rectify the outstanding warrant. Chenango County Sheriff's Office personnel will never call to request money or gift cards for any criminal matters.

State Police released more details regarding a 2 vehicle crash in Conklin last Friday Morning. Police stated that 4-year-old Kaylynn Mendez has passed away from injuries sustained, while a passenger in a Dodge driven by 36 year old Michael McDonald of Conklin. McDonald, Mendez & 1 other passenger were taken to Wilson Hospital, 2 others were airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. The Driver of the 2nd vehicle, 53 year old Christopher Davidson of Owego was evaluated at the the scene & was released, The investigation into the crash is on-going.
Broome County Sheriff’s officials are looking for Casey Lyons from the Town of Union, who is wanted for violation terms of probation for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and his Sex Offender Registration terms. Lyons is a white male with short-cropped brown hair, hazel eyes and a mustache and goatee, he stands six-feet, one-inch tall and weighs 170 pounds. The Broome County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident Tuesday, where 43 year old David Koshinski of Johnson City crashed his pickup truck, which overturned, on Route 12 in the town of Chenango. Koshinski is accused of attempting to drive the vehicle away from the crash scene, he was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely & operating a vehicle with no windshield and operating a vehicle with no left-side mirror.

Detectives arrested Franklin while investigating a Larceny from an Oneida County Business; Detectives located and recovered the stolen property in Franklin’s possession in the City of Norwich. 51-year-old Joyce Mitchell pleaded guilty to 2 charges in connection with helping inmates David Sweat and Richard Matt escape the Clinton Correctional Facility in June. Mitchell was a tailor shop instructor who provided the inmates with tools hidden in frozen hamburger meat, she pleaded guilty today to promoting prison contraband and criminal facilitation. She could serve a sentence of 2 1/2 to 7 years in prison.
The Chenango Arts Council announced the acceptance of Request for Proposals from New York State artists for exhibition in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries, located in CAC facilities at 27 West Main Street, Norwich. The proposal deadline is January 6th, 2016, with a jurying process occurring mid-January for exhibition in the following year. There is no fee for submission, and CAC staff is available for technical assistance with the application process. New York State is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and arrest of Richard Matt and David Sweat, who escaped from the Clinton correctional facility. Governor Andrew Cuomo commented:

David Sweat is 34 years old; white, 5’11” tall, 165 pounds, brown hair and green eyes, with tattoos on his left bicep and his right fingers. Sweat is serving a sentence of life without parole for the Murder of Broome County Deputy Kevin Tarsia on July 4, 2002. Richard Matt is 48 years old, white, 6’ tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his back: “Mexico Forever”, a heart on his chest and left shoulder, and a Marine Corps insignia on his right shoulder, he is serving a sentence of 25 years to life for 3 counts of murder, 3 counts of kidnapping, and 2 counts of robbery after he kidnapped a male victim and caused his death on December 3, 1997. Both are considered dangerous, if located DO NOT approach them, call 911.

Governor Cuomo announced that the state Troopers PBA, the State Association of Chiefs of Police, & 28 Sheriffs have joined the “Enough is Enough” campaign to combat sexual assault on the state’s college campuses. The Delaware County Department of Corrections announced that the 4th annual Andrew Brown Memorial Golf Tournament would be held tomorrow at Hardwood Hills gold Course in Masonville, with a tee time of 8:30 AM. Organizers announced that the money raise with this years tournament will go to the family of Johnson City Police officer David Smith, who was shot & killed in the line of duty on March 31st.

Governor Cuomo's campaign will not appeal a ruling allowing Zephyr Teachout to remain in the Democratic primary. A state appeals court rejected the campaign's argument that Teachout has spent part of the past five years in Vermont. A lower court had already ruled Teachout could stay on the ballot for the September 9th primary. Teachout teaches at Fordham University Law School in New York City. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found 85 percent of state Democrats said they know too little about Teachout to have any opinion of her.

The Chenango county sheriff’s department arrested 50-year-old Phillip Brown of Morris for DWI, driving with BAC .08 of alcohol, and failure to keep right.   Brown was arrested following a traffic stop for moving violations in the Town of Sherburne, where officers determined that Brown was operating the motor vehicle in an intoxicated state.   Brown will appear in the Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.
