Firefighters in Mount Upton & South New Berlin have responded to a reported Structure Fire at 415 Copes Corners Road, in the town of Butternuts. The fire was called in at about 1:00 PM this afternoon, early reports suggest that it is contained to a barn, WCDO News will have more details as they become available.

The combination of low relative humidity, gusty winds and dry fine fuels could lead to fires spreading today, Everyone is urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition source, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14.

in Greene. The Chamber will honor
McDowell & Walker as the Business of the year, Hickory & Doc as the
Startup Business of the year & Friends of Afton as the Organization of the
year.
The General Clinton Canoe Regatta will be coming up later
this month, with activities at General Clinton Park & in the Susquehanna
River from Friday through Monday, Memorial Day, Regatta chairman John Harmon
said that he needs some volunteers to help out:

A public hearing will be held in Oneonta on March 14th regarding the Town of Oneonta possibly starting their own Volunteer fire department to replace a paid agreement with the City of Oneonta Fire Department. The hearing will be held on march 14th at 6:00 PM at the Elm Park Methodist Church in Oneonta.
State Police arrested 60 year old Brian Lewis of Gilbertsville for DWI and other traffic violations, after troopers responded to a 1 vehicle rollover crash on Copes Corners Road in the Town of Butternuts. Trropers accuse Lewis of driving while intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle causing it to rollover. His passenger received a hand laceration, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Lewis refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content. He was released after arraignment at the Town of Butternuts Court.

State Senator Jim Seward announced a $50,000 state grant he secured to help with improvements at Copes Corners Park in the Town of Butternuts. The capital funding has been used to help with improvements to the park's bathroom facilities, pavilions, and purchase of playground equipment, it was included in the 2015-16 state budget and secured by Senator Seward through the New York State and Municipal Facilities Program.
