State Police responded to a report of a male who fell
approximately 20 to 30 feet from a ladder at a residence on Swart Hollow Road
in the town of Oneonta Wednesday.   56
year old Troy Anderson of Oneonta was assisting the home owner with outside
repairs when he fell off the ladder.  The
homeowner called 911, Anderson was transported to A.O Fox Hospital where he was
pronounced deceased.   The investigation
is on-going, but at this time no foul play was observed and it appears to be an
accident.
State Police responded to a 1-car fatal crash on Klondike
Road in the town of Hancock on Tuesday at about 6:20 PM, following a report of
a vehicle that overturned and was on fire.
An investigation revealed that 69-year-old Elizabeth Rosengrant of
Fish’s Eddy was operating an SUV when she went off of the shoulder of the
roadway, overturned & struck 2 trees & caught on fire.  The case remains under investigation.
The Town of Guilford Board held a special meeting Wednesday
night & they approved their Local Renewable Energy Law for the possible
development of solar and wind energy businesses.  Guilford town Supervisor George Senek told
WCDO News that any construction of wind turbines by Calpine is at least 1 year

The Calpine Corporation has proposed a plan to build up to
30 large Wind Turbines around the Town of Guilford up to 676 feet.  They are exploring similar plans for up to 27
wind turbines in the towns of Windsor & Sanford.
Applications are being accepted currently for the Leadership
Delaware classes, which will start in October & last for 16 sessions twice

Chenango County Waste Management
reminds county residents that the Latex Paint Exchange officially ends
September 30th at the North Norwich Transfer Station on State Route 12.   The site is open Tuesdays through Fridays
from 9:00 AM to 3:00 pm; more information is available at 337-1790.

On Tuesday afternoon, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies,
& State Police responded to a 2 car motor vehicle accident on State Highway
357, near Lawton Hill Road, in the Town of Franklin.  Deputies reported that 55 year-old Robert Ray
of Bainbridge travelled into the opposing lane & struck an on-coming
vehicle driven by 89 year-old Richard Dickson of Jensen Beach, Florida.  The Dickson vehicle subsequently ran off the
roadway and overturned in a ditch. Richard Dickson, and his 90-year-old
passenger, Helen Dickson suffered minor injuries and were transported to A.O.
Fox Hospital for treatment. Deputies later issued Ray traffic summonses for
failure to keep right and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Otsego County held its 22nd annual Hazardous Waste
Collection Day this past weekend.  On
Friday, Unadilla had 170 cars dropping off hazardous materials, on Saturday at
the Meadows Office Complex, 750 cars dropped off hazardous materials.  200 pounds of pharmaceuticals and medications
were collected for incineration, over 20,000 pounds of electronics, 240 car
batteries & 2500 household batteries were collected, & 650 gallons of
paint was collected which will be re-mixed by Golden Artist Colors for eventual
re-distribution to local not-for-profit agencies.
Otsego County Chamber will host their state Mandated
Anti-Harassment Policies and Sexual Harassment Training on Wednesday, October
9th at 1:00 PM at Northern Eagle Beverages at 41 Browne Street in Oneonta.   The State mandates ALL employers adopt a
sexual harassment prevention policy as well as to train ALL employees on sexual
harassment prevention.  Pinnacle Human

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is half a million dollars
closer to its capital campaign goal thanks to a $500,000 commitment from the
Roger Follett Foundation this week.  CMH

Stagnaro said that the Follett foundation gift will be paid
out over the next 5 five years, it follows similar commitments from Blueox,
NBT, Preferred Mutual Insurance company since the capital campaign started in
August.
The Sidney Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff's
Office and State Police conducted a vehicle and traffic law detail Thursday
from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. The goal of the detail was to take drunk and drugged
drivers off the road as well as enforce vehicle and traffic laws, 15 traffic
tickets were issued which included 2 arrests for aggravated unlicensed
operation.
The Tri-County Chapter of New York State Women Inc. is
sponsoring an AMBA scholarship fundraiser Saturday in Sidney.  The Amba Clinic will be held from 6:00 AM to
9:30 AM at the Sidney Elks Lodge on River Street; those looking to have their
blood drawn for a variety of tests can call 800-234-8888 for an appointment.
The Afton United Methodist
Church Fall Craft & Vendor Show will be held Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00

22nd Annual Household Hazardous Waste Days.
The 1st collection day will be Today at the Unadilla Town Barn from 8:00
AM to 11:00 AM; the 2nd day will be at the Cooperstown Meadows Office Complex
tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  There
will be a small fee for businesses wishing to participate; more information is
available at 547-4225.
The Otsego County Democrats will hold their Annual Dinner
& Silent Auction on Saturday evening.
The Keynote Speaker will be state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.  The event will start at 5:00 PM at the Hunt
Union Ballroom at the State University Campus in Oneonta.
Donors of all blood types are needed in Oneonta today at a
blood drive at the SUNY Campus.
Appointments are requested at the Red Cross Blood Donor App,

Preferred Mutual Insurance Company
has committed a $250,000 for a new emergency room and walk-in center at UHS
Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
Officials from Preferred Mutual Insurance Company announced the pledge
on Tuesday; it will be paid over the next 5 years, & is the largest
corporate commitment to be announced since the Norwich hospital kicked off a
capital campaign started last month.
The Delaware County Chamber of
Commerce will hold their next 1st Friday Eat & Meet business breakfast
tomorrow at Kirkside Park Pavilion in Roxbury, starting at 8:30 a.m.  The featured speaker is Congressman Antonio
Delgado of the 19th Congressional District, who is a member of the House
Agriculture, Small Business and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees;
and will speak about accomplishments and initiatives, as well as answer

The State Department of Health today
announced new findings of its ongoing investigation into the vaping-associated lung
illnesses that have been reported across the state, including an updated case
count and information regarding the testing being conducted at the Department’s
Wadsworth Center Laboratory.  the
Department has received 34 reports from physicians of severe pulmonary illness
among patients ranging from 15 to 46 years of age who were using at least 1
cannabis-containing vape product before they became ill, Laboratory test
results showed very high levels of vitamin E acetate in nearly all
cannabis-containing samples analyzed by the Wadsworth Center as part of this
investigation. At least one vitamin E acetate containing vape product has been
linked to each patient. The Wadsworth Center is testing both cannabis and
nicotine-containing vape products as part of this investigation.
Governor Cuomo today signed
legislation to prohibit companies from charging early termination fees on motor
vehicle lease contracts if a customer has passed away before the end of the
contract. Similar laws are in place prohibiting phone, television, internet,
energy and water service providers from charging early termination fees if a
contract is broken due to the death of the customer.
A.O. Fox Hospital has
been awarded $10,000 by the MultiPlan Rural Health Grant Program to help launch
a food “farmacy” based at its Tri-Town Campus in Sidney.  The prescription food location will open in
January 2020, & will provide emergency food, education, and navigation
services to patients and their families in need. A.O. Fox Hospital will partner
with local businesses & it will operate on an outpatient basis; visitors
will receive vouchers for food prescribed by their primary care providers.  In Delaware County, it is estimated that more
than 8,400 people suffer from hunger; more than 1,800 of those struggling are
children. In children, hunger can lead to growth impairment, poor academic
performance, behavioral issues, sickness, social disorders, and more.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies
arrested 19 year old Brianna Reynolds of Auburn for Aggravated Unlicensed
Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed operator and Speeding at 85 miles per
hour in a 55 mph zone.  Reynolds was
stopped by deputies on State Highway 17 in the Town of Hancock; she will appear
in Town of Hancock Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies
arrested 28-Year-Old Robert Davis of Pennsylvania for Driving While
Intoxicated, Refusal to Take Breath Test & Parking on a Public
Highway.   Davis was located on State
Highway 206 in the Town of Masonville; he was arraigned & was remanded to
the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $2,500 Cash Bail, or $5,000 in
secure bonds.  Davis is scheduled to
appear in the Masonville Town Court at a later time.
