Senate Democrats in Washington have elected Senator Charles Schumer of New York to be their new minority leader when Congress convenes in January. Schumer was unanimously picked this morning to succeed Harry Reid of Nevada, who is retiring in January after 30 years in the Senate.
The Chenango County District Attorney's office announced that 42 year old Melissa Crispell pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of 2nd degree murder, in connection with the death of 58-year-old David Green of Oxford at Green's home. Jeremy Coates pleaded not guilty to 1st degree murder in connection with Green's death, both are being held at the Chenango County Jail.

Melissa Crispell of Oxford & Jeremy Coates of Norwich faced court action Thursday, in connection with the beating death of 58-year-old David Green in his oxford home at 221 Charles Kelley Road, on either September 24th or 25th. Both are facing murder charges for Green's death at & are being held in the Chenango County Jail pending future court action.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a deceased male at 221 Charles Kelly Road in the Town of Oxford. The victim was identified as 58-year-old David Green, who resided at that address   The autopsy on Green determined that the cause of death was a homicide, he apparently was murdered at the Oxford location between Friday September 23rd in the evening and Saturday September 24th. Investigators are currently following numerous leads but are asking anyone with any information to contact them at 334-2000, option 1 or 607 337 1935.   The investigation is continuing.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a deceased male at 221 Charles Kelly Road in the Town of Oxford Monday Afternoon at about 2:55 pm. The victim is identified as 58-year-old David Green, who resided at that residence; The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this as a suspicious death. An autopsy is scheduled for today at the Onondaga County Forensic Center. The investigation is continuing, & The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to call 334-2000, option 1 or 337-1935.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer is calling on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate "spying billboards". Schumer’s office reports that the billboards are being used to collect data from any mobile device that passes by them. Schumer said that companies want to use this technology to track peoples travel patterns and behaviors through location services on their cell phones, Schumer is pushing to allow consumers to be able to opt-out of the tracking program and to be notified if this new technology is tracking them.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Department arrested 19-year-old David Gavett following traffic stop in North Norwich, where Gavett was pulled over after being observed driving at a speed of 72 mph in a 55 mph zone. Gavett failed to pull over, and attempted to drive off, he was stopped & was found to be possessing alcoholic beverages while being under the age of 21, plus Gavett’s motor vehicle had no valid insurance and was not legal to be driven on the road. Gavett was charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting arrest, & several traffic offenses, he was arraigned in the Town of North Norwich Court and remanded to the custody of The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $1,000 cash bail to reappear at a later date.
