On Friday Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies observed a vehicle to be traveling at about 100 miles an hour in a 55-miles per hour zone, while passing another vehicle in the Town of Davenport. at that speed. Deputies identified the driver as 21-year-old Cash Carter of West Sayville, Deputies subsequently arrested and charged Carter with one count of Reckless driving, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent and Obstructed View among other charges, Carter was released on traffic summonses and was directed to appear in the Town Davenport Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched in January to Liberty Street in Walton for a Trespass complaint, Deputies were advised by the owner of the property that 36-year-old Leanne Woolard was found in the storage area of the building but had left the area prior to patrols arrival, The owner previously reported Woolard had previously trespassed and was reported to Walton Police. An Arrest Warrant was issued for Criminal Trespass, On Friday Deputies located and arrested Woolard, she was processed and turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.

A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 9-count indictment against 19 year old Alex Young of East Meredith, for various counts of Rape, Aggravated Sexual Abuse, 2nd degree sexual Abuse, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, Young allegedly possessed a performance which included sexual conduct by a child less than 16 years of age, he also is accused of having sexual contact with minors. Young appeared in the Delaware County Court for arraignment, bail was set at $100,000 bond and $50,000 cash.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 Walton residents on multiple Drug charges stemming from a narcotics investigation. On September 4, the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, executed a no knock search warrant at a residence on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton, they arrested 43 year old Benjamin Pankiewicz, 22 year old Gage Pankiewicz & 37 year old Ashley Calabrese, all of Walton on a number of drug charges, A quantity of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, drug packaging & processing equipment were seized, as well as a firearm and approximately $1,000 in cash. All 3 were arraigned, Benjamin and Gage Pankiewicz were were released to reappear at a later date, Ashley Calabrese was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $7,500 bail.

3 people were taken to Wilson hospital after a BC Transit bus crashed into a light pole on the west side of the Oakdale Commons complex in Johnson City. The incident happened shortly after 8:30 AM, near the former Burlington Coat Factory store. Bus Driver was identified as Wendy Carter, the investigation is continuing & charges against Carter may be filed

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force said officers executed the search warrant at 15 Corbett Avenue where Officers seized methamphetamines, crack cocaine, fentanyl and methadone, as well as items used for weighing and packaging narcotics. 41 year old Jeremy Bezek was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance & criminally using drug paraphernalia, 25 year old Carter Dennison was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, both face court action shortly.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will host a local contest of the National Civics Bee on Saturday, April 27, as middle schoolers strive to represent New York at the national competition in Washington, D.C. The local competition will be held at The Okun Theatre at SUNY Delhi, starting at 2:00 pm. Delaware County Chamber President Ray Pucci explains:

The top three finalists from the locally hosted competition advance to the May 30 statewide competition in Albany with one moving on to the third annual national contest in November. The top three finishers will receive a cash prize and trophy.

State Police are currently investigating a complaint on Wednesday ion the town of Franklin where 2 males posed as utility company workers while another person burglarized the home. 2 men wearing walkie talkies approached an elderly couple in front of their residence and distracted them, while the 3rd person entered their home and taken a large amount of cash, jewelry and coins. The suspects were in a white SUV with out of state plates. 1 man is described as Hispanic, clean shaven, approximately 50 years-old, approximately 5’3, 175 pounds, wearing a dark blue sweatshirt with matching sweatpants and a beanie hat. The 2nd man is described as 5’ 3”, a little older with facial hair and blue eyes, wearing blue jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a baseball cap, anyone with information should contact State Police at 432-3211 or 561-7400.

Binghamton Police announced the arrests of 22-year-old William Ritchie and 17-year-old Andrew Carter of Binghamton, in connection with a series of nazi symbols left a several locations around Binghamton. Both were charged with aggravated harassment and criminal mischief, designated as a hate crime. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

State Police arrested 58 year old Debra Mills of Sidney, for Felony Forgery & Petty Larceny, for allegedly stealing checks from a woman she took care of, forging the checks then cashing them. Mills was arraigned in the town of Sidney Court where she was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to reappear appear in court Thursday.
