The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce, will host a Congressional Candidate Forum with a question and answer session, Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce President Ray Pucci comments:

The event will be held at the Roscoe Beer Company Garden, 145 Rockland Road, Roscoe, There will be a special election to fill the position on August 23rd, the winner of the election will fill the seat through Jan. 1, 2023.

U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $5.4 Million dollars in federal funding for 3 Central New York and Southern Tier airports. Greater Binghamton/Link Field will get about 2.2 Million Dollars to reconstruct airfield guidance signs and to reconstruct or replace the airport lighting vault.

The Susquehanna SPCA will host area legislators and representatives from the New York State Animal Protection Federation and animal shelters from throughout the region, during a press conference later this morning in support of the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill, which has already passed both houses of the New York State Legislature, Susquehanna SPCA Executive Director Stacie Haynes explains:

Haynes said that every year, thousands of puppies from out of state puppy mills are sold to unassuming consumers at astronomical prices. The dogs are bred in factory like facilities, and are physically, mentally, and medically compromised puppies sold at retail outlets, the bill has not yet been signed by Governor Hochul.

Artifacts from the Washington Nationals’ first-ever World
Series title are headed to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.  Artifacts donated by the Nationals include
n  The ball hit by Howie Kendrick off the
right field foul pole for the go-ahead home run in Game 7, A jersey worn by
World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg,  A
cap worn by starting pitcher Max Scherzer in Game 7 & a bat used by Anthony
Rendon.  The artifacts will be featured
in the Autumn Glory exhibit, which will be on display in Cooperstown through
the 2020 Postseason.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce "Hiring Our
Heroes Veterans Business Resource Fair" will be held on November 14 from 1
to 3:30 pm at Sidney American Legion at 22 Union Street.  Delaware County Chamber of Commerce President

The annual meeting of the Delaware County Historical
Association will be held on Sunday, followed by the presentation of DCHA’s
annual Awards of Merit to those individuals who have volunteered their time and
skills to preserve and/or present the history of Delaware County.  The general public is invited at 2:45pm to
hear local historian and author, Bill Birns, give a presentation based on the
life of Congressman John Clarke of Delaware County,    more information is available at 746-3849.

The have been some changes made within the Sidney Fire Department, as the MacDonald Hose Company was closed & the equipment was moved to the Main River Street location, which then forced a move by the Sidney Emergency Squad. Sidney EMS Spokesman Ray Baker explains:

Baker said that the Emergency Squad is still looking for their own permanent location with a garage for their vehicles, one of the sites being considered is the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall site at Patterson & Division Streets.

Governor Cuomo defeated Cynthia Nixon easily for the Democratic Party Primary for Governor, also winning statewide Primary Elections were Kathy Hochul for Lieutenant Governor, & Letitia James for Attorney General. Local State Assembly incumbents Cliff Crouch & Bill Magee won their Primary challenges by large margins. Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin Jr. won his Primary election for the Republican nomination over challenger Robert Fernandez.

The Unadilla Rotary Club will hold their annual Autumn Fest this Saturday. The event will be held from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Community Field.

The Village of Sidney will held their 23rd annual Sidney Arbor Day program this morning at Bill Ray field, with the dedication of a tree in honor of Bill Ray, Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak commented:

A Crimson King tree was planted on the 3rd base side of Bill Ray field this morning, the dedication was attended by members of Bill's family, the Sidney Shade tree Commission & the state DEC.

The Village of Sidney will hold their 23rd annual Sidney Arbor Day program on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 AM at Bill Ray field, behind the Moose Lodge off East Main Street. This year’s Arbor Day award will be in memory of Bill Ray; a Crimson King will be planted at the Bill Ray field in memory of Bill’s years of service and dedication to the Sidney Recreation Commission and the community.

Governor Cuomo today announced the craft beer industry in New York State grew 59% from 2013 to 2014, with a total economic impact estimated at $3.5 billion. The number of craft breweries has more than doubled from 2012 to 2015, from 95 breweries in 2012 and 207 in January 2015. Craft beer production is up 54% from 2011 to 2013, Tourists visits support more than 3,000 jobs that pay more than $77 million in annual wages and generate more than $450 million in revenue.

The Sidney Moose Club will be holding a benefit Saturday in honor of the late Bill Ray.  The event will be held at the Moose Lodge tomorrow from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Proceeds will go for Bill’s medical expenses and for the Bill Ray Little League Baseball Field in Sidney. more information is available at 435-1007.
