State Police, as well as Sidney EMS, Sidney Fire Department and Sidney Center Fire Department responded Sunday Night at approximately 7:05 pm, for the report of a Motor Vehicle Accident on Parker Hollow Road, about 1/2 a mile North of Sunshine Mountain Road in the town of Sidney. The initial investigation stated that the Vehicle was traveling north & left the roadway, strikes a tree and becomes engulfed in flames. Police said that an unidentified 58 year old woman from Bainbridge & her dog were killed in the accident, the investigation is continuing.
Staff from the State Comptroller's office will attend community events, such as County Fairs & the New York State Fair to help residents search for lost and forgotten money. The state has returned over $234 million in lost or forgotten money, so far this year, unclaimed funds usually come from old bank accounts, utility deposits, uncashed checks, insurance claims, stocks and other sources that have been dormant, dating as far back as the 1940s. Residents who cannot make it to the events can search for and claim their money by using the online claiming system at ouf.osc.state.ny.us or by calling 1-800-221-9311.

Governor Kathy Hochul today issued an Executive Order declaring a State Disaster Emergency in response to the ongoing monkeypox outbreak. The Executive Order extends the pool of eligible individuals who can administer monkeypox vaccines, including EMS personnel, pharmacists and midwives; allows physicians and certified nurse practitioners to issue non patient specific standing orders for vaccines; and requires providers to send vaccine data to the State Department of Health. The federal government had secured an additional 110,000 vaccine doses, resulting in a total of 170,000 doses to New Yorkers to date. More Information is available at health.ny.gov/diseases
