State Police arrested 32-year-old Curtis Commesso of Bainbridge for reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal contempt, after troopers were advised of a domestic dispute on I-88 in the Town of Fenton. Commesso allegedly drove recklessly by another vehicle that was occupied by his ex-girlfriend, their young child and others, he swerved in front of the victim’s vehicle, and the behavior violated a court order of protection. Commesso was arraigned in the Town of Fenton Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond, pending future court action.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation to combat unfair and illegal ticket purchasing and reselling practices. The bill creates new penalties for individuals who use computer software known as “ticket bots” to manipulate systems designed to limit the number of tickets to an event that a person can buy. The unfairly purchased tickets typically end up resold on ticket marketplace websites for substantially higher prices. The new legislation expands the definition of ticket purchasing software to include the wide variety of systems used to quickly amass tickets before the general public can access them.

Governor Cuomo today announced DICK'S Sporting Goods will invest $100 million to build a regional distribution facility at the Broome County Corporate Park in the Town of Conklin. DICK'S investment is creating 466 full-time jobs over the next five years in the Southern Tier. Construction on the 650,000-square-foot facility will begin next month and is scheduled for completion in early 2018.

Amphenol of Sidney has laid off 90 production workers for the 2nd time in 7 months, after a stop-shipment order by the Defense Logistics Agency, Land and Maritime, on connectors made at the Sidney plant. Delaware County Economic Development Director Glen Nealis explains the issue:

Nealis said that Amphenol is not in danger of falling below employment numbers promised to the state, following agreements made with the state for funding to build the new plant on Delaware Avenue following the devastating floods of 2006 & 2011.
