Governor Cuomo announced today that travelers from Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Maryland and Montana will no longer have to self-quarantine for 14 days when arriving in New York. President Donald Trump by a 55-38% margin, the poll also shows that Dividing
New York into 2 states is opposed by 66% and supported by only 25%. The Poll also shows that Governor Cuomo has a
49-47% favorability rating; his job performance rating is 41% favorable, with
57% unfavorable.

Finger Lakes Region for a week of wholesome summer fun. The camp will accommodate over 900 boys and
girls between the ages of 9 and 12 from across New York State this summer. The
campers attend at no charge. More

State Police responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle
accident on Odell Lake Road near Peters Road in the town of Harpersfield at
approximately 10:55 last night. The only
occupant, the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was confirmed deceased by
emergency responders. An investigation
reveals that the driver traveled off the roadway for an unknown reason and into
a large tree. The roadway was closed for
approximately four hours. The investigation continues.

Delaware County Sheriffs Department, State Police & the Trout Creek Fire Department responded to the report of a small plane crashing in the woods near Trout Creek, at about 3:00 this afternoon. Authorities have closed off Chase Brook Road & Readburn Road, they have not announced if there were any injuries or fatalities. WCDO news will have more information as it becomes available.

Members of The New York State Sheriffs Association will visit the state capitol next Tuesday, to lobby lawmakers for funding to put at least 1-armed School Resource Officer in every single school in the state. The association is urging lawmakers to allocate money to protect students, following the latest school shooting in Florida, and multiple threats of possible violence to local school districts after that tragedy.

Area School Superintendents will meet with Delaware County Sheriff Craig Dumond next month, about a plan to get more law enforcement officers into schools, in response to the growing number of school shootings.

Oneonta Police & the Otsego County Sheriffs Department served a search warrant at 300 Main Street in Oneonta Tuesday. Arrested were 37-year-old Timothy Baron of Oneonta, 55-year-old Mark Fategoni of Oneonta and 28-year-old Zachery Meegan of Oneonta on a variety of drug charges, for allegedly possessing cocaine & LSD. Police seized the drugs along with $9,500 in cash, all 3 were being held at the Oneonta Police Department lockup pending arraignment in the City of Oneonta Court.

A Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle for several NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law violations on Friday on State Route 79 in the Town of Fenton. 28 year old Deanna Olmstead of Windsor was arrested for felony DWI, Aggravated DWI, Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle driving without an interlock device and several other charges. Olmstead was arraigned in the Town of Fenton Court and remanded to the Broome County Sheriffs Jail pending additional court action.

Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir made only a mild adjustment to the bail of Ernest Franklin of Guilford this week. Franklin's cash bail remained the same at $125,000, bond was reduced from $250,000 to $200,000 Thursday, Franklin is accused of planning the murder of his special needs son Jeffrey Franklin & setting fire to the family home to cover up the murder. Heather Franklin is currently out on bail; both will be tried separately next year, according to Chenango County DA Joe McBride.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 43 year old Jason Wright of Oneonta, for Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Public Lewdness. Troopers responded to a report of a naked man exposing himself from an apartment on Chestnut Street, Wright is accused of exposing himself in a lewd manner while standing near a window, he was also found to unlawfully possess a handgun inside the apartment. Wright was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond.

Governor Cuomo announced more than $3.7 million in grants to help further reduce motor vehicle theft and insurance fraud.. Police departments, sheriffs' offices and district attorneys' offices will share the funding for anti-theft and anti-fraud training programs to law enforcement professionals. The grants are awarded by the state's Motor Vehicle Theft and Insurance Fraud Prevention program, the state Division of Criminal Justice Services provides staff to the board and administers the grant program.

Chenango County Sheriffs department arrested 32-year-old Samuel Gould of Norwich for Criminal Contempt, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Criminal Mischief and Harassment, after an investigation into a domestic dispute that occurred in the Town of Sherburne. Gould was arrested for allegedly subjecting the victim to unwanted physical contact and choked the victim during the course of a dispute; Gould also had an active order of protection against him. Gould was arraigned in the Town of Sherburne Court and was released on his own recognizance.

The Chenango County Sheriffs department participated in the April 28th National Drug Take Back event. The Sheriff’s Office recovered approximately 150 pounds of prescription medication at drop off locations in New Berlin, Guilford, as well as the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. Residents may continue to turn in their prescription medication at the Sheriff’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Chenango county sheriffs department responded to county route 17 in the town of Oxford for a 1-vehicle accident Wednesday. 26-year-old Christina Graham of Norwich lost control of her vehicle went off the roadway & into a tree. Graham was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for head trauma, her 6 year old son was taken to Wilson hospital for a shoulder injury, the investigation is continuing.

Morris was charged following the investigation of a March 2nd crash in the town of Greene. Morris was arraigned in Coventry town court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail pending future court action.

The Hillcrest Fire Department reported that it was 74-year-old Roberta Bush who died in a trailer fire Sunday night. The fire was reported at around 8:30 PM Sunday at 417 West Service Road, Bush was found in the back portion of the trailer after fire fighters extinguished the blaze.

Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 25-year-old Matthew Stevenson of Manorville, for DWI, after Deputies responded to County Highway 18 for a reported 1-car roll over motor vehicle accident. Deputies charged Stevenson with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle & several other traffic infractions. Stevenson was released with appearance tickets to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

On Sunday, the Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 25-year-old Cody Satkowski of Fish’s Eddy, after Satkowski was involved in a motor vehicle accident on County Highway 17 in the Town of Hancock. Satkowski was in possession of marihuana and found to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, he was charged with aggravated DWI and unlawful possession of marihuana & he will appear at the Town of Hancock Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriffs department arrested 37-year-old Yurian Perez and 31-year-old Yuniel Brito, both from New Jersey, for Criminal Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Cultivation of Marijuana, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The charges are the result of a month long investigation into alleged marijuana growing operation at 9179 County Highway 21 in the Town of Franklin. The execution of a Search Warrant resulted in the seizure of lighting, ventilation and irrigation equipment, 328 plants, a crossbow, a metal knuckle knife& a vehicle. Both were arraigned & were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond. The investigation continues, and more charges against additional suspects are likely.

Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 69 year old James Maynard of East Meredith for unlawfully growing cannabis. Maynard had contacted authorities in reference to a missing person, when Deputies located an area within the residence which was being used to grow cannabis. Maynard was released with an appearance ticket where he will return to the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.
