45 year old Thomas Stanley of South New Berlin, pleaded guilty Delaware County Court last week to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. On April 30, 2023, Sidney Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with 4 individuals, including Stanley. Officers discovered that the driver, Thomas Wright, was the subject of an Order of Protection granted to a passenger of the vehicle, Wright's car was impounded, Officers found heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine packaged for sale. Stanley and Wright were indicted by the Delaware County Grand Jury and charged with 6 counts of drug- related felonies. Over the course of Stanley’s case, numerous bench warrants were issued for his arrest due to his continual failure to appear in Court, On January 10th, Stanley was apprehended and remanded without bail, he will likely be sentenced to 4 years in prison & 2 years of post-release supervision.
Crews in the Village of Bainbridge repaired a broken water main break on West Main Street this morning. Water was shut off in the area of the break for a few hours, the water was turned back on & affected village residents do NOT have to boil water.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 28 year old Ladrina Graham of Worcester for Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; 6 counts of Failure to Provide Sustenance plus Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Graham was arrested following a complaint of an injured dog in the town of Worcester, after filing for a search warrant and finding a deceased dog and 5 living dogs in unsanitary conditions, Graham was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Worcester Court at a later date. The deceased dog was sent to Cornell University for a necropsy and further charges are pending at this time.
29 year old Tyler Long of Sidney pleaded guilty to Failure to Register an Internet Account, after the Delaware County Probation advised the Sidney Police that Long, who was a registered sex offender, had 6 separate unregistered email accounts, an offender is required to notify his supervising officer of any internet account within 10 days of its creation. Long appeared in Delaware County Court, Long will be sentenced to a term of 1 to 3 years in state prison, Sentencing is set for March 17th.
23 year old Gage Pankiewicz of Walton pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Delaware County Court last week. On September 4, 2024, Delaware County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a residence in Walton on suspicion of drug trafficking. Forcible entry was made, and deputies arrested Pankiewicz, among other suspects, methamphetamine & fentanyl was recovered, along with packaging, scales, and a rifle. Pankiewicz will be sentenced on March 18th, likely to a term of 5 years of felony probation supervision.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 63-year-old Dale Davis of Edmeston is facing charges, after he lost control of his pickup truck in Bridgewater Saturday and rolled down a hill. Davis is accused of striking a female EMT in the face, who was trying to help him out of the truck in the face. Davis is charged with Aggravated DWI and Obstructing Emergency Medical Services. He was arraigned and released on a future court date.

Otsego County Office of Emergency Services reported that an early morning fire at about 4:45 this morning at 451 County Highway 21 in the town of Plainfield resulted in a fatality. The fire destroyed the home, Unadilla Forks Fire Department received aid from the West Winfield Fire Department, The fire was reported by a passing motorist, indicating that the house was fully involved. The Cause of this fire is currently under investigation, and the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services is being assisted with the investigation by the New York State Police and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control
The Norwich Police Department concluded an investigation into a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of the State of Kentucky. Norwich Police Department detectives arrested 47 year old Trey Kirk of Norwich, on several warrants out of Boone County Kentucky for fleeing and evading police officers. Kirk was picked up at a local business in the City of Norwich and held for arraignment on the Fugitive from Justice Warrant.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cameron Curley of Smithville & Logan Tribe-Filhart of Binghamton, On January 6th, Curley and Tribe-Filhart allegedly took several thousands of dollars worth of property from a residence in the Town of Smithville on multiple occasions, Tribe-Filhart was seen with stolen property by deputies and citizens following the incident, Additional stolen property was found in Curley’s residence. Both were charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Grand larceny, Criminal mischief, Criminal possession of stolen property, among other charges, they were released with separate court dates in the Town of Smithville Court.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50 year old Lance Jennings of Burlington for Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing & Harassment, after Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Burlington on January 4th, Jennings was arrested & was processed and released after being issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Burlington Court at a later date.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31 year old Elijah Conklin of New Berlin after he falsely reported a car theft. Deputies were told by Conklin that his vehicle was stolen out of his driveway when he was not home, he signed documents, vehicle information was shared with the Otsego County, where they reported that the vehicle had been involved in an accident and the driver fled the scene. Chenango Deputies determined that Conklin was the driver that fled the scene, Deputies returned Conklin was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of New Berlin Court at a later date.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56 year old Jonathon Rees on a Sealed Indictment Arrest Warrant. Rees turned himself in to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office after receiving a Notice to Appear for Chenango County Court. Rees was processed for Offering a false instrument for filing, Perjury, unlawful surveillance, Aggravated Harrassment among other charges, he was arraigned in Chenango County Court where he was released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the Town of Triangle. 27 year old Samuel Michaels & 33 year old Jennifer Briggs claimed that their residence was burglarized, Detectives learned that Michaels and Briggs were suspects in a burglary case in Chenango County, where a shotgun was utilized to shoot into a vacant Chenango County residence. The pair admitted to having falsely reported the initial burglary to eliminate themselves as suspects in the Chenango County burglary investigation. Michaels and Briggs were charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Providing a False Written Statement, Falsely Reporting, they were processed at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Triangle Court, they also face burglary charges in Chenango County.

Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 21 year old Matthew Bartosik of Conklin for 2nd degree Murder, Attempted Murder, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Criminal Contempt, following an investigation into a fatal shooting at 58 Leslie Avenue in Conklin Friday morning. Sheriff Fred Akshar held a Press Conference this afternoon with updates on the case:

Sheriff Akshar said that Deputies had been to the residence several times since Early December for a variety of family disputes, Bartosik was arraigned Friday and was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that the 40 year old Dorothy West of Arkville pleaded guilty to Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drugs, she was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, she is also required to attend an Impaired Driver Program, and her license is revoked for at least 6 months. On March 17th, 2024, State Police responded to a welfare check at the Dollar General in Margaretville, with a driver asleep in a car. West failed testing at the scene & was found to be impaired by drugs.

New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Counter Terrorism in partnership with State Police, conducted training exercises at more than 900 locations statewide in 2024 to increase public vigilance and reporting of suspicious activity. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Salvatore DeCarlo of Unadilla on a variety of charges following the investigation of a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 7 in the Town of Unadilla. DeCarlo was charged with DWI, Driving with a BAC of .08 of higher, failure to keep right among several other charges, he was released on with an appearance ticket for Town of Unadilla Court at a later date.

Members of the Oneonta Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 88 Ford Avenue this morning at approximately 7:30am. The fire was quickly contained and all occupants were able to evacuate safely. Mutual aid was provided by West Oneonta Fire Department, Franklin Fire & Rescue, Otsego County Office of Emergency Services.
The Deposit Fire Department and the Eastern Broome Emergency Services were dispatched to a fire on Monday at about 4:00 AM on China Road in Deposit. The fire was not reported until well after it had started, the fire was deemed accidental. Deposit Fire fighters received mutual aid from Masonville, Trout Creek & Hancock Fire Departments and the Delaware County Office of Emergency Services. No injuries were reported.
Local Fire Departments were called for a structure fire at 1104 County Route 37 in Mount Upton This morning. The structure was a total loss and the investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45 year old Angela Williams of Oxford for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Harassment. Deputies responded to an address in the Town of Oxford for a domestic dispute. Williams was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in centralized arraignment. Williams was released on her own recognizance and is to appear in the Town of Oxford Court at a later date.
39 year old Richard Santiago of Unadilla pleaded guilty to Criminal possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell in Delaware County Court Monday. Santiago was arrested initially for possessing narcotics in Sidney in December of 2023, he will likely be sentenced to 3 years in state prison followed by 1 year of post release Supervision, sentencing is scheduled for February 25th.
A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 4 count indictment against 55 year old Paul Petrosky of Walton on charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly selling the drugs in front of a child. Petroskey will face a court conference on January 28th.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23 year old Amanda Campbell of Norwich for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Campbell allegedly engaged in a relationship with a juvenile victim, she was released on an appearance ticket and will appear in Town of Smithville Court at a later date.

The heavy wet snow took down Tree limbs & power lines throughout the region, NYSEG crews are working to restore power as soon as possible. In response to the Local State of Emergency Declaration issued by the County of Otsego last month, County officials have rescinded the Local State of Emergency & Emergency Orders relative to Open Burns, effective today. Emergency Services would like to remind Otsego County residents that until the Governor’s Office rescinds the State Burn Ban, those orders remain in effect until at least November 30th. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Latee Baker of Binghamton, back in July, Deputies received a harassment complaint from the Village of Delhi, Deputies requested a Criminal Summons from the Delhi Town Court, on Wednesday, Deputies assisted the Village of Delhi Police Department in the execution with several sealed indictment arrest warrants in the Town of Kortright. Deputies located and arrested Baker, who was turned over the the Village of Delhi Police Department and remanded to the Delaware County Jail to await arraignment.

The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services announced that they have sent personnel to assist in the fighting of the Catskills area wildfires in Ulster, Sullivan & Orange Counties. Otsego County deployed 5 Hand-crews, totaling 25 firefighters, to assist in Greenwood Lake, with fire fighters from Milford, Otego, Unadilla, & West Laurens Fire Departments, as well as Otsego County Emergency Services Deputy Fire Coordinator Jeremy Hilton. State Senator Peter Oberacker and Assemblyman Joe Angelino announced the signing of legislation renaming a bridge spanning the Chenango River, connecting the Town of Greene and the Town of Fenton in honor of decorated Vietnam veteran Herman Anders Jr. Specialist Anders was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the National Defense Service Medal, while facing intense enemy fire, he put himself in harm's way and led his unit to safety, he continued to defend his fellow soldiers, engaging enemy forces until his last moments. Specialist Anders rests now in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery in Chenango County.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest 31 year old inmate Rafael Frias for attempted assault. On October 15th, Investigators with the Delaware County Sheriffs Office received a complaint from the Correctional Facility of an assault between 2 inmates, they arrested Frias, he was arraigned at the Delaware County Centralized Arraignment Court, and was remanded back to the custody of Correctional Facility on other unrelated charges.
The State DEC is investigating the possibility of White Tail Deer in New York State possibly suffering from Chronic Wasting disease, after 1 deer in Herkimer County tested positive for the fatal disease last month. The DEC Statement said that the disease is always fatal, and can spread through certain Deer & Moose populations, they will continue to monitor as hunting season approaches.
Delaware County officials remind area residents that the burn ban is still in effect until further notice, the dry ground & low water levels could be conducive to rapidly spreading wild fire, Delaware County is still one of 15 counties under a state Drought watch.

The results are in for yesterday's Election day, in the U.S. Senate race for New York, Incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand wins easily, in the U.S. House New York District 19, Josh Riley appears to have won a tight race over Marc Molinaro, in the State Senate District 51 race, Republican Incumbent Peter Oberacker wins by about 20% over Democrat Michele Frazier, in the local State Assembly Races, in the 121 District, Joe Angelino received double the vote over Vicki Davis, in the State Assembly 102nd District, Incumbent Republican Chris Tague wins by a substantial margin over Janet Tweed, and in the 122nd District, Brian Miller wins by a large margin over Democrat Adrienne Martini. in the Chenango County Court race, Republican Diane DeStefano wins easily over Democrat Lisa Natoli, and New Yorkers easily passed the STATE PROPOSITION to add an amendment to protect against unequal treatment.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 people after a 3-month investigation into fraud, forgery and identity theft. In August, Deputies received a complaint in regard to stolen funds from multiple accounts, multiple unknown charges and new accounts being opened without consent. Deputies, Sidney Police & State Police and the Delaware County District Attorney's Office arrested 44 year old Lori Brooks of Sidney, 27 year old Joshua Hunt of Unadilla & 37 year old Matthew Walsh of Sidney on a variety of charges including Grand Larceny, Conspiracy, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument & criminal possession of stolen property, Brooks was issued an appearance ticket and turned over to State Police for an outstanding warrant & was then turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for arraignment. Hunt was being held at the Otsego County Jail on an unrelated charge, he was processed & was brought back to the Otsego County Jail, Walsh was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Arraignment, he will appear at the Village of Sidney Court at a later date, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
A Delaware County Correction Officer discovered an incarcerated individual unresponsive in a cell Tuesday, personnel began conducting lifesaving measures, and emergency medical services were called. Following extensive efforts, lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and the incarcerated individual was pronounced dead at the Delaware County Corrections Facility by a Delaware County Medical Examiner. The case was referred to the Office of the New York State Attorney General and the New York State Commission of Correction for external review.

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors has successfully negotiated with New York City to stop the acquisition of land in the County, Shelly Johnson Bennett of the Delaware County Planning Department told WCDO News why this is important to the County & The Watershed region:

Johnson Bennett said that scientifically based programs will allow for developing some land & still make sure that the water supply used by New York City will remain clean.
2 new laws went into effect in New York State over the weekend, that will impact how healthcare providers obtain consent to payment and collect payments from patients. Healthcare providers Must collect consent for payment separate from consent to receive healthcare services; & they are prohibited from requiring credit card pre-authorization or requiring a patient’s credit card be kept on file prior to the delivery of emergency or medically necessary services, & they Must notify patients of the risks of using credit cards to pay for healthcare services.
US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced over $27 Million Dollars in federal funding for the Delaware County Electric Cooperative, which provides electricity to over 5,000 families, farms, and local businesses in Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties. The Delaware County Cooperative will lead a partnership composed of 6 small electric cooperatives across 3 states to increase grid resilience against outages caused by weather events and tree damage caused by invasive species. The Cooperative will deploy advanced software to enable proactive grid management, as well as hardware such as grid sensors and drones to provide real-time data and monitoring capabilities.
The Delaware County Board of Elections announced that the ballot drop box previously outside the Board of Elections Office at 97 Main Street in Delhi, has been removed. Officials stated that It was taken down by maintenance in response to a directive from the chair of the Board of Supervisors, Tina Mole, citing security issues and a contentious election. Anyone who received an absentee or early vote by mail ballot who prefers not to return it by mail can deliver it to the Board of Elections office during normal business hours, from 8:30AM to 4:00 PM, and during some extended hours during early voting being held at our Delhi Office, October 28 through November 3. Absentee/early mail ballots can also be delivered to any poll site on Election Day, November 5th.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Brian Worden of Sidney following an investigation into medications not being taken properly in the Otsego County Correctional Facility. Worden was charged with Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband when he failed to take his prescribed medication properly and attempted to remove the medication from the medication room but was caught by a Correctional Officer, he was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Middlefield Court at a later date.

23 year old Dakota Mann of Walton pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court Monday to 3rd degree Assault & Criminal Contempt. On May 17, 2024, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Walton for an ongoing domestic, where the caller & 1 other person claimed to have been assaulted by Mann, who violated an order of protection. Mann was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility. On July 1, 2024, while incarcerated, Mann assaulted & injured a fellow inmate, Mann was additionally charged with 2nd degree Assault. Mann faces sentencing on December 9th to 1 1/2 to 3 years in state prison for Criminal Contempt, and 1 year for Assault.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that 221 State and local government workers have been deployed to North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia to help with response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. Team members include staff from the National Guard, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Department of Transportation, DEC, State Police, Department of Agriculture and Markets, among many others. State Agencies are also gearing up deployment top Florida following the expected devastation from as Hurricane Milton heads towards Florida.
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce announced that Drivers are able to reduce the cost of their auto insurance coverage by taking a Defensive Driving Course offered at the Chamber Business Center in Delhi on Tuesday, October 22 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Meeting Room at 5 ½ Main Street in Delhi. Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Richie Rodriguez of Bronx for Criminal Possession of Stimulant, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and a host of traffic tickets following an investigation after a traffic stop on State Highway 7 in the Town of Otego. Rodriguez was processed and held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending Arraignment.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol observed motorcycle without a license plate on I-81, a traffic Stop was initiated, the operator failed to comply onto Colesville Road to State Route 17, the motorcycle eventually had a mechanical failure and came to a stop. 29 year old Trae Salisbury of Binghamton had an unsecured dog on his lap throughout the pursuit, deputies secured the dog and placed Salisbury under arrest for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Carrying an Animal in a Cruel Manner & Numerous traffic violations. Salisbury was processed at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Kirkwood Court. The dog was transported back to its owner.

Otsego County Sheriff's office arrested 33 year old Schuyler Schmidt of Garratsville following an investigation of a structure fire in the Town of New Lisbon. Schmidt was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Arson, Criminal Mischief in connection with a structure fire of a garage owned by a relative, multiple area Fire Departments responded, investigators located approximately thirteen vehicles & Machinery sustained significant damage or had become a total loss. Upon Arrested, Schmidt allegedly possessed methamphetamine, he was held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

Governor Kathy Hochul today extended the application deadline for homeowners to apply for emergency repair grants for the July and August 2024 extreme weather events across the state. Funds are available to eligible homeowners flood or insurance coverage or other forms of disaster recovery funds insufficient. Locally Delaware County Residents who had damage from the severe weather of August 9th & 10th are eligible, more information on the program, is available on HCR’s website: hcr.ny.gov. 52 year old Shannon Finch of Margaretville was indicted by the Delaware County Grand Jury & was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. The indictment alleges that on May 5 in a hotel room in Fleischmanns, Finch, possessed methamphetamine, he was previously arraigned in the Town of Middletown Town Court where he was released on his own recognizance, he faces up to 5 1/2 years in state prison and 2 years of post-release supervision if convicted.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol observed a vehicle reported missing from the Town of Fenton. The vehicle had pulled into a driveway in Binghamton when the patrol activated their emergency lights. The vehicle then accelerated into the yard, driving through a fence into the yard of a residence on State St in an attempt to escape police. The vehicle had struck a building, the occupants fled on foot. The female passenger, 21 year old Hailey Blank was located and taken into custody, 20 year old Rodney McCormick, was located & arrested, he was charged with Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment, Obstruction of Governmental Administration & Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Blank was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Obstruction of Governmental Administration. McCormick and Blank were turned over the Binghamton Police to answer for multiple warrants, both were remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
19 year old Lamont Weaver of Binghamton, and an 18-year-old adolescent offender from Binghamton, pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Broome County Court. On April 27th, Weaver was involved in a shooting in Binghamton, at sentencing on October 25, 2024, Weaver is expected to receive a sentence of up to 8 years in New York State Prison, along with up to 5 years of post-release supervision. On August 18th, the adolescent offender was involved in shooting in Binghamton, firing several rounds at people during a dispute. the adolescent faces 6 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.
59 year old Dolores Barse, also known as Dolores Hurlburt of Sidney appeared in Delaware County Court last week & pleaded guilty to Welfare Fraud, she is accused of providing false information while applying for SNAP and HEAP benefits, she claimed to have no income despite being employed. Barse improperly received $14,203 in public benefits that she was not entitled to, she will be ordered to pay the money back to the Delaware County Department of Social Services.

The State DOT is alerting motorists that State Route 79 will be closed from about 1,000 feet east of the Interstate 88 interchange to the intersection with Main Street in the Town of Colesville, until further notice. The closure is necessary to facilitate a culvert repair, which is expected to take several weeks. Motorists should follow posted detours. Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Fredrick Canfield of New Lisbon following an investigation in the Town of Pittsfield. Canfield was charged with several counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, as well as several other related charges. Deputies were conducting traffic enforcement on June 23rd and observed a vehicle with switched license plates, they attempted a traffic stop, Canfield failed to stop and pulled into the driveway of a residence & fled inside, A quantity of Methamphetamine and Cocaine was located, deputies learned that Canfield was on Parole and residing at an unregistered address. Canfield was apprehended last week, in the Town of Pittsfield, he was taken into custody & is being held at the Otsego County Jail.
49 year old Demetrius Armstrong of Binghamton, pleaded guilty to Burglary in Broome County Court Wednesday. On September 7, 2023 Armstrong broke into a residence in the City of Binghamton with the intent to steal items and was found inside of the residence by the Binghamton Police Department. Armstrong is scheduled to appear back in court for sentencing this October, he faces between 5 and 15 years in State Prison followed by 5 years post-release supervision.

Officers seized methamphetamines in Rosler’s backpack, he was charged with Reckless Endangerment, 3 counts of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Hindering Prosecution, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy & Over 50 traffic violations through 3 jurisdictions, Baker was charged with Conspiracy & Hindering Prosecution, he is accused of filming the chase & convincing Rosler to keep the chase going. Rosler and Baker were processed, Baker was released on appearance tickets and Rosler remains in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

State Police responded Saturday to the Tioughnioga River in the town of Lisle regarding a possible drowning. The investigation determined that an 11-year-old male from Marathon, was fishing with friends and decided to jump in the water to swim when he went under the water and didn't resurface due to the strong current. At 7:15 pm., the victim was located deceased in approximately eight feet-deep water by the Broome County Dive Team. There were no signs of foul play, and the scene was consistent with an accidental drowning.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 39 year old Robert Colvin of Unadilla for criminal contempt for violating a court order of protection. Colvin violated the order of protection by calling the protected person from the Otsego County Correctional Facility 107 times since his initial incarceration, he had also previously been convicted of Criminal Contempt in the second degree within the past five years.
51 year old David Louden of Sidney pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt Monday in Delaware County Court, on December 13th, Sidney Police were dispatched when Louden, who was barred from contacting either the victim or the child, was outside knocking at the front door at 2:45 am, Louden fled the scene, but On January 11, Sidney police located & arrested Louden. Sentencing is scheduled to take place on July 15.
Broome County Sheriff Road Patrol deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Anderson Road in the Town of Nanticoke early Sunday. Deputies found a 2013 Chevrolet over an embankment on the side of the road, 2 of the 5 occupants in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center. 20 year old Isaac Brown of Whitney Point stated he was operating the vehicle without a license and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the accident. Brown was charged with DWI, Vehicular Assault, Aggravated Vehicular Assault & Numerous Traffic Violations, Brown was arraigned and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Nanticoke Court at a later date.

On August 28, 2023, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Delhi after observing the vehicle driving erratically. Kraemer’s driving privileges were revoked for a prior DWI conviction, Kraemer was Indicted by Delaware County Grand Jury and a warrant was issued in March, she was located and arrested last week on the sealed indictment arrest warrant, she was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

Macrabie will be required to register as a sex offender for at least 20 years, and he will also be placed on sex offender probation for 6 years, sentencing will be July 22nd.
32 year old Timothy Boulton of Binghamton was sentenced as a second time felony offender in Broome County Court to 5 1/2 years in New York State Prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. On November 9, 2023, after a traffic stop by the Binghamton Police Department, Boulton was discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine, and $5,545 in cash at the time of his arrest.

The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services announced that 29 year old Michael Bredin on the Town of Maryland, has been charged with 2nd degree Arson by the State Police & Otsego County District Attorney's Office. On March 31st, the Schenevus Fire Department, along with Oneonta City Firefighters, responded to a blaze at an apartment house on State Route 7, the fire was quickly knocked down, and investigators determined that the fire was deliberately set. Bredin was arraigned Friday & faces court action at a later date.

The businesses that passed were in Oneonta, Laurens, Hartwick, Milford, Otego, & Davenport. New York’s Move Over Law will soon be expanded to include all vehicles. Starting March 27th, drivers will be required to take precautions, including slowing down and moving over, to avoid a crash with all vehicles stopped along the roadway. Previously, the law dictated moving over for emergency vehicles parked on the side of a highway, from 2016 to 2020, 37 individuals were killed outside disabled vehicles in New York, nationally, nearly 300 drivers are struck and killed roadside every year.

US Marshalls in Florida arrested 33 year old Casey Lyons of Binghamton, On Friday, in Volusia County, Florida. Lyons was the Broome County Sheriff’s #6 Most Wanted fugitive and had been sought by deputies since September 2023 for Failure to Register Under the Sex Offender Registration Act, Lyons had been convicted of the charge 2 previous times and has now been charged a 3rd time. The Broome County Sheriff’s Warrants Division successfully developed information on Lyons’ location and coordinated with the Volusia County Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force ahead of the arrest.
Oxford Firefighters responded last Thursday Afternoon at 3634 County Road 32, the house was fully involved when fire fighters arrived, 1 occupants escaped with minor injuries and was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. The Chenango County Office of Emergency Services' Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire. The Oxford Fire Department was assisted by the Norwich, Coventry, Guilford and Greene Fire Departments.

Early Saturday at 2:04 AM the City of Norwich Fire Department was dispatched for the report of a structure fire involving a “carport” at 19 Miller Street in the City, firefighters found a working house fire, a single occupant was located at a 2nd floor window, jumped from the window & was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital & was transported to University Hospital in Syracuse, listed in critical condition. Norwich Fire Department was assisted by the North Norwich & Oxford Fire Departments, Norwich Fire Chief Jan Papelino said that several tenants did escape, but 2 adult individuals were deceased. The investigation into the incident is still on going, with the City of Norwich Police Department, and the Chenango County Office Emergency Services Fire Investigation Unit.
Oneonta Police responded last Tuesday to the area of 30 Center Street to the report of a male that had suffered a gunshot wound. A 36-year-old male was located and was taken to an area hospital, an assailant fled the scene prior. Oneonta Police were assisted by State Police, State University Police at Oneonta and the Otsego County Sheriff's Office in the search for a suspect & collecting of evidence. Oneonta Police were able to identify the suspect as Miguel Alcaraz, who was taken into custody & was charged with 2nd degree Burglary last Wednesday. Otsego County Sheriff's Office & Cooperstown Police Department announced that a deceased male was found Friday morning in the Susquehanna River, the deceased was identified as Matthew Sisson of Otego, who was missing for 7 days. Sisson left Bassett Hospital Friday January 26th, where he had been transferred from Fox Hospital in Oneonta with Appendix issues.
30 year old Autumn Transue of Oneonta pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to DWI, she had a prior Conviction in within 10 Years, making the charge a felony. Broome County Sheriff’s Road Patrol initiated a routine traffic stop Tuesday of a pickup truck on Route 17 West near Exit 71 in Binghamton. The driver, 35 year old Kyle Kasmarcik of Port Crane, was found to have a suspended license. The investigation and towing of the vehicle uncovered a loaded and unregistered 9mm handgun, a digital scale and a small bag of white crystal-like substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine. Also found in the truck was a separate license plate, which was used on the same vehicle a day prior Kasmarcik was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Aggravated Operation of a Motor Vehicle, along with other similar charges, Kasmarcik was taken to Central Arraignment and remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest 52 year old Donald Lane of Portlandville following an investigation in to a sex offender who failed to register a change of address with the New York State Sex Offender registry. Lane is accused of relocating from a residence in the Town of Oneonta to a new location in the Town of Milford without notifiying authorities, Lane was located in the City of Oneonta Tuesday & was taken in to custody, he was processed & was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await an appearance in Otsego County Centralized Arraignment.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were on patrol in the Village of Walton Sunday and stopped a vehicle for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Deputies seized a quantity of narcotics and methamphetamine from the occupants and vehicle, Deputies arrested 40 year old Patrick Ladd of Walton for 5 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, & 43 year old Leslie McClenon of Walton was charged with several traffic violations & criminal possession of a controlled substance for possessing Methamphetamine with intent to sell, a 3rd occupant of the vehicle was released at the scene without charges at this time. McClenon was subsequently released on appearance tickets and directed to appear at the Village of Walton court at a later date. Ladd was held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
The City of Norwich Police Department announced that their phone lines and internet are down at the Police station today Wednesday, and possibly tomorrow. They hope to have the services restored as soon as possible.
The storm which hit the region Sunday & Monday has claimed the lives of 4 New Yorkers so far. State Police said that an elderly woman in Catskill had her vehicle submerged in flood waters Monday, & she could not be reached by first responders due to the raging flood waters.

Local sales tax collections in New York state increased by 5.1% in November compared to the same month in 2022, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Overall, local collections totaled $1.81 billion, up $88.6 million compared to the same time last year. County and city collections outside of New York City totaled $887 million, an increase of 4.4%, 55 out of 57 counties experienced year-over-year increases.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced $25 million in capital grants will be made available to help volunteer fire departments upgrade their facilities and equipment. The grants will be administered by the state’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, fire companies have until April 30 2024 to respond to the request for applications at dhses.ny.gov.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the Town of Smithville on December 8, that resulted in the arrest of 37 year old Troy Dibble of Smithville. Dibble was taken in custody, he was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for Reckless Endangerment, for allegedly firing numerous rounds from a handgun into a vehicle that was occupied. The investigation also uncovered Dibble's drug sales from within the residence, Office members recovered Heroin, Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and numerous handguns. Dibble was charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon, Criminally using drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest & several other charges, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on cash bail pending future court action.
The State Office of Cannabis Management has issued a recall on “Jenny’s Zee Zee Gummies" adult-use cannabis product.” The recall states that the products did not undergo the required testing for consumer safety and product quality. the product in question was sold between September 4th and November 1st, consumers should contact the dispensary where it was purchased for more information.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced that the investigation into Saturday’s gas explosion on Richards Avenue in Oneonta is still ongoing, and following acquiring information from examination of the scene, interviews, and forensic examinations, they concluded that an action by the resident, 60 year old Desmond Moan resulted in a non-intended natural gas leak, The escaping gases made contact with an ignition source which resulted in the explosion. Inspections and damage assessment is still ongoing, but currently there has been over 50 property parcels, and over 60 residents and their families affected. Initially 43 residents were displaced. The American Red Cross is working with the families providing community resources and services, The State of Emergency remains in effect.
NYSEG reports that about 600 customers are still without power in Delaware & Otsego Counties, following Sunday's heavy rain & snowfall., crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.
On December 3, 2023, Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies observed a vehicle in a field and observed a person running with a flashlight toward the vehicle. Deputies identified the person with the flashlight as the operator of the motor vehicle as 34 year old Michael Hunter of Walton, who is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol, he was charged with DWI and moving from lane unsafely. The property that Hunter was on was owned by New York City Department of Environmental Protection, DEP Police charged Hunter with Trespass & Criminal Mischief, Hunter will appear in Andes Town Court at a later date.

Jury Deliberations began yesterday & Continued today in the trial of Nauman Hussain in Schoharie County Supreme Court, this afternoon he was convicted of manslaughter in the Schoharie limo case that killed 20 in October 2018. Hussain was the owner of the Prestige Limousine, one of their vehicle crashed in Schoharie, killing 18 in the limo & 2 at a gas station that the vehicle crashed through when the brakes failed. Sentencing will be held at a later date.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 50 year old Hasan Taylor of Oneonta, following an investigation of narcotics within the Correctional Facility. Taylor is accused of concealing narcotics with the intent to sell, after being admitted to the Correctional facility on separate charges, he was released, however investigators received a report from the State Police indicating that the substance seized from Taylor was Fentanyl, an arrest warrant was issued by the Town of Middlefield Court. Taylor was located by the Oneonta Police & was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Promoting Prison Contraband & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for court action.

Bodie was scheduled to be transported to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York at a later date for arraignment on the Sexual Exploitation of a Child charge, if found guilty, Bodie could face 15 to 30 years in prison.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office announced that a stolen vehicle traffic stop in the Town of Kirkwood led to an arrest on multiple felony drug charges last week. On May 7th, a deputy identified a vehicle as stolen from Binghamton, after stopping the vehicle and confirming its status, Officers seized 11.3 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and $1,423 in cash, 38 year old Jorge Cortina of Binghamton was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell & Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, he was processed and issued an appearance ticket to answer for his charges on June 7, 2023 in the Town of Kirkwood Court.

A Broome County judge on Friday has sentenced Jason Johnson of Nineveh to 60 years in jail for the attempted murder of Trooper Rebecca Seager in June 2021, Johnson was found guilty on a number of felony counts last year in Broome County Court for shooting Trooper Seager in the hip in the Town of Colesville, Johnson was taken into custody following a 21-hour manhunt.

The Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 50 year old Brett Conklin of Walton was convicted for DWI In Tompkins Town Court. Conklin was arrested last November after a 1 vehicle crash, where registered a BAC of .14. Conklin was ordered to pay $900 in fees and fines, he was sentenced to a 1 year conditional discharge, he must install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle he owns & he must attend a victims impact panel & an impaired Drivers program.

Deputies arrested 30 year old Heather Brewer of Endicott, 38 year old Joseph Schultz & 35 year old Ryan White of Endicott on a variety of charges including Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of stolen Property, & Conspiracy, Schultze was found to have outstanding warrants for Grand Larceny, resisting arrest, identity theft and drug charges in the State of Pennsylvania and violating parole in Albany.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 43 year old Hayes Cutting Jr of Bainbridge, for 2nd degree assault, Tampering with Physical Evidence, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and resisting arrest, following the investigation into the assault of Norwich Police Officer with a motor vehicle on Monday in Norwich, while attempting to take Cutting into custody on an active warrant. State Police responded to the Town of Oneonta after a tip that Cutting was there, Cutting was found hiding in the ceiling of a building, he was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on a State Parole Warrant and will appear in the Town of Norwich Court for the new charges. The passenger in Cutting's vehicle, Jesse Dann, had an unrelated warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody.
The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, and local Police agencies, arrested 32 year old Cody Dickson of the Town of Maine man on 17 charges. The Task Force executed a search warrant at 383 Kolb Road, they seized over $10,000 in methamphetamine, plus weapons, high capacity magazines and ammunition. Dickson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Possession of a Weapon, plus Criminal Possession of Stolen Property & Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Dickson faces court action shortly.
Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchack announced that 26-year-old Kout Akol of Binghamton was sentenced for Manslaughter, Criminal Possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and endangering the welfare of a child, in Broome County Court, for the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Takecia Mitchell in Binghamton, Akol was sentenced to 25 years in state prison, followed by 5 years of post-release Supervision.

Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 46-year-old Justin Valk of Davenport was arraigned Monday, on an indictment charging him with 2 Counts of 2nd degree Burglary & 1 count of 3rd degree Burglary. Valk is accused of unlawfully entering a garage on County Route 30, in Harpersfield while displaying what appeared to be a firearm Valk pleaded not-guilty to the 3 count indictment, and he was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $100,000.00 cash bail.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 64 year old Jeffery Laskow of Big Indian was convicted of 1 count of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, he entered his guilty plea in the Town of Middletown Court last week. Laskow was involved in a 1 car motor vehicle accident in Margaretville on June 10, 2022, State Police accused Laskow of being under the influence of a drug, he was sentenced to 2 years of probation, and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and a $400 surcharge, his driver’s license was revoked for 6 months, and he was ordered to attend a Victim Impact Panel and an Impaired Driver Program.
The Otsego County Department of Health will offer a vaccination clinic on February 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The Department of Health will offer Bivalent COVID-19 boosters at the Otsego County Meadows Complex in the EMS/Civil Service Classroom at 140 County Hwy 33 West, in Cooperstown. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Danielle Mingleton of Cooperstown, following a recent traffic stop in Milford. Mingleton was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI, Failure to Keep Right, Operating while Registration is suspended or revoked, Operating without Insurance & Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle on a Highway, she was released on appearance tickets for Milford Town Court on February 14th.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 206 in the Town of Colchester, crossing over the double yellow line. Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as 20 year-old Breawna McCree of Bronx, a check of the vehicle’s license plate showed that the vehicle inspection had expired in 2021. McCree was charged with Displaying a Forged Inspection Sticker, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, and Moved from lane unsafely, she was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
