State Police arrested 63 year old Carol Hissin of Endicott after an investigation revealed that she falsified records and took medication intended for patients at Good Shepherd Communities Endwell, on 3 occasions. Hissin was arrested by Troopers at her residence and charged with 3 counts of Falsifying Business Records & Scheming to Defraud, Hissin was processed then turned over to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

28 year old Ionel Baldovin of Romania was sentenced in US District Court to 33 months in prison for his role in a bank fraud conspiracy impacting 2 area financial institutions and least 5 additional institutions across the United States. Baldovin admitted to placing skimming devices and cameras at ATMs, the devices and cameras captured ATM customers’ account information and PIN numbers, the suspects created fraudulent debit cards from the captured information, which they used to withdraw currency over $450,000 from customers’ accounts in 2017 & 2018, 4 other suspects were already sentenced, the cases were investigated by the FBI, Homeland Security, State Police, the Endicott Police and various local police departments in area counties.

State Police announced this afternoon that missing teen Damian Mazza-Siragusa was found safe by Endicott Police today & he was checked out at a local hospital. The 17 year old was reported missing after leaving Deposit late Saturday Afternoon.

Broome County Sheriff's Office announced that 48 year old Joseph Maine of Endicott, was found safe. Maine reportedly left his house Saturday evening & traveled to a friend’s residence in the City of Binghamton in the & remained there for several days without contacting his family. Law Enforcement was alerted to Maine’s Binghamton location in the early morning hours today, he was interviewed by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and voluntarily went to UHS Wilson Hospital for evaluation.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office continues its search for a 48 year old Joseph Maine of Endicott, who reportedly left his house on foot on the evening of Saturday, April 19, and never returned home, the Sheriff’s Office has conducted grid searches of the surrounding neighborhood, Maine is diabetic, he may not have taken his medication recently and may be exhibiting confused behavior. Maine is described as a White Male, 6’0” and weighing 167 lbs. He was last seen wearing a light gray sweatshirt, dark Grey sweatpants, a black baseball cap with a fishhook hanging from it, and black sneakers. Tips can be called to 778-1196.

51 year old Antoine Loup of Endicott was sentenced to 25 years to life, for 2nd degree Murder & Tampering with Physical Evidence. On July 8, 2023, Loup pulled up at 4 Filmore Avenue in Endicott where Aaron LeGare, and others were playing cards, LaGare approached Loup’s vehicle, an argument ensued & Loup shot LaGare in the chest & fled the scene.

The Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that Jeremy Lewis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was found guilty by a jury for possessing a loaded and defaced handgun. Lewis faces 15 years in State Prison as a Second time Felony Offender, in October 2023, the Endicott Police Department were called to a residence for a report of a disturbance, they found Lewis was in possession of a loaded firearm, which was identified as a 22 Caliber Semi-Automatic handgun which had been defaced.

Agri-Mark Incorporated of Vermont has recalled 189 cases of Cabot Creamery 8-ounce premium butter, Consumers should not eat or use the recalled butter, which has an expiration date of September 9th. Agri-Mark officials said that they have recovered 99.5% of the potentially contaminated lot before it was sold to consumers, it was found to contain Coliform bacteria, Cabot products are sold in several states, including in New York.

The Detail also arrested 42 year old Jesten Hyde of Conklin for a variety of drug charges, Hyde was found to possess 23 grams of methamphetamine. Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that Phillip Alvarez of Endicott pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Broome County Court. As part of his plea agreement, Alvarez will be sentenced to 10 years in state prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for the drug charge, he will also receive a 7-year prison sentence followed by five years of post-release supervision for the weapons charge. On July 24th 2024, a search warrant executed by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, they seized Cash, ammunition, weapons, cocaine and digital scales. Alvarez will also forfeit $5,566.00 in drug proceeds.

State Police arrested 60 Year Old Christopher Rayford of Worcester Tuesday Night, following a physical domestic dispute involving a firearm. Troopers were dispatched to County Road 39 in Worcester, they determined that after physically assaulting a victim, Rayford destroyed property within the home and shot several rounds into the ceiling. Rayford is also accused of taking the victim’s cell phone and preventing the victim from calling for help. Troopers took Rayford into custody and the victim was checked out by Worcester EMS for injuries on scene but did not wish to be transported to a local hospital. Rayford has been charged with Reckless Endangerment, Strangulation, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Assault, Menacing & Criminal Mischief, he was processed and was transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.

19 year old Quamir Hazel of Endicott was sentenced in Broome County Court to 8.5 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Last August 16th in Vestal, Hazel was found to be in possession of an operable Glock 9mm firearm loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition. Hazel was originally expected to receive an 8-year sentence at today's sentencing. However, due to a petit larceny incident that occurred in the Broome County Jail, his sentence was extended by an additional 6 months.

On February 14th, the Broome County SIU executed a search warrant at Crown Fried Chicken, in Endicott, they seized 3,204 pack of Untaxed Cigarettes, $1,936 in US Currency, 69 year old Jamshaid Ahmad of Endicott was charged with Criminal Tax Fraud, Possession/Transport for Sale of Unstamped/ Unlawfully Stamped Cigarettes, the seized cigarettes represent approximately $17,141.40 in evaded New York State taxes.

18 year old Armony Murphy of Endicott was sentenced to 6 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree yesterday in Broome County Court. On August 18, 2024, Murphy engaged in a verbal altercation with residents of 6 Catherine Street in Binghamton, she fired multiple rounds at the residents and the house.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle with equipment issues in Walton, they conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the occupants, 37-year-old Aaron Howard, 36-year-old Courtney Condon and 75-year-old Joan Howard, all of Walton. Aaron Howard and Courtney Condon had an active full stay away order of protection in place, protecting Joan Howard from them. Deputies charged Joan Howard with Obstructing Governmental Administration and Facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operator. Condon was charged with Criminal Contempt, Aaron Howard was charged with Criminal Contempt and Obstructing Governmental Administration, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator & a number of other lesser traffic violations. All 3 were processed and released on appearance tickets for the Village of Walton Court at a later date.

Troopers were dispatched to the Walmart in Oneonta, Troopers met Warner outside of the store, they determined that he stole over $5-thousand worth of merchandise, he was also operating a vehicle with switched license plates, & they located suspected illicit substances inside the vehicle along with other stolen goods, allegedly from the Walmart in Cobleskill, worth more than $4-thousand. Warner was turned over to Troopers in Cobleskill & charged with Grand larceny for the Cobleskill incident, he was released & was ordered to appear at the Cobleskill Town Court today.

A Florida man is facing multiple charges following a firearms related incident in Endicott. Last Tuesday, patrols responded to a report that the Endicott Police Department were searching for a male suspect who had pointed a handgun at a female in Endicott, before fleeing the scene in a red Dodge Caravan. A short time later, Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle in the Town of Dickinson and conducted a traffic stop, 62 year old Jack Hawe of Zephyr Hills, Florida was found to have a loaded Glock pistol & ammunition, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and other similar charges, he was processed & was sent to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.

The Clean Slate Act went into effect in New York State Saturday, which will automatically seal an individual’s New York State criminal records. The law states that Convictions under New York state law are eligible for sealing, Except for Sex crimes, Sexually violent offenses or class “A” felonies with the exception of drug-related convictions. The law does not apply to federal crimes or convictions in other states. For the record to be sealed, a specific period has to pass, 3 years for a misdemeanor & 8 years for a non”A” felony. Stephens suffered from smoke inhalation, 1 Trooper climbed a ladder and removed Stephens from the scene, he was taken to Wilson Hospital where he was treated & released, he was then charged with 2nd degree Arson & Menacing a police officer, he was taken to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.

Various warnings have been released to conserve water because of drought-level conditions throughout the Catskill region and beyond.

Binghamton Police responded to the report Thursday morning of an bomb threat at the State Office Building, at the 17th floor Attorney General’s office. A K9 Unit along with the Endicott Police Bomb Squad searched the office and did not find a bomb. The building has reopened, the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Binghamton Police Detectives at 607-772-7080.

State Police held a graduation ceremony today for the Canine Handler Basic School. The ceremony was held at the State Police Academy in Albany. A total of 12 canine teams graduated, The canines and their handlers underwent 20 weeks of training at the New York State Police Canine Training Facility located in Cooperstown, In Troop C, Trooper Shane Jones, Canine Hedges were part of the Graduating class, Canine Hedges is named after Trooper Richard L. Hedges, who was killed in a traffic accident while on duty in 1942.

During the search, Officers seized Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, 219 pills of s Controlled Substances, plus a Scale, packaging and cutting agent used to distribute narcotics & $170 of cash, Whritenour was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 5 Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, he was transported to Central Arraignment and was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

On September 26, 2024, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant in the Town of Union. 43 year old Steven Whritenour of Endicott, was present during the execution of the warrant. During the search, Officers seized Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, 219 pills of s Controlled Substances, plus a Scale, packaging and cutting agent used to distribute narcotics & $170 of cash, Whritenour was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 5 Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, he was transported to Central Arraignment and was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

A Broome County Jury found 50 year old Damian High of Endicott, guilty of multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 1 count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, he faces up to 24 years in State Prison followed by 6 years of post-release supervision. On April 7, 2023, members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant in Endicott, where High possessed cocaine and a digital scale, in February, Endicott Police found High sleeping under a bridge, he was detained him under a Mental Hygiene Law, Police uncovered 19 baggies of cocaine. High is scheduled to be sentenced in Broome County Court on December 16.

23 year old Elijah Gibson of Endicott, was sentenced today in Broome County Court to 5 years in State Prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. On December 30, 2023, in the Village of Endicott, Gibson possessed a loaded and operable 9mm firearm, leading to his arrested & conviction.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that the Delaware County Grand Jury returned an 8-count indictment against 32 year old Drew Garnier of Masonville for the murder of his wife Samantha, and the attempted murder of their 2 children. Garnier was indicted for 2nd Degree Murder, Attempted Murder, Criminal use of a firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, for possessing assault weapons, he pleaded not guilty to each charge & was remanded to the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office without bail.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a report of a man hit by a vehicle at about 9:30 last night, at Upper Front Street & Bevier Street in the Town of Dickinson. 43 year old Jamel Smalls of Binghamton was declared deceased at the scene, he was hit by a vehicle that left the scene, investigators learned of a possible suspect vehicle in the Town of Maine. 21 year old Christian Rogler of Endicott, was located, & was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident, Driving while Impaired by Drugs, & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was arraigned & was being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

The Susquehanna SPCA & the Otsego County Sheriff's Department rescued 2 dogs & 2 Quail from a residence on County Route 35 in Milford. 2 emaciated dogs were taken to Cornell for treatment, the shelter is working with the Friends Network to foster and rehabilitate the birds, to donate or to receive more information, go to sqspca.org.

On Monday, Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to the report of a male that had been stabbed in the chest at an apartment complex In the Town of Union. Patrols located the victim lying on the ground of the parking lot of the complex, with two witnesses providing first aid, deputies immediately provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to UHS Wilson Hospital, where he remains in serious condition. 32 year old Janzer Canelo of Endicott and the victim were both residents of the apartment complex and had been in an ongoing dispute over laundry, Canelo was charged with 1st Degree Assault, he was transported for arraignment & remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a stabbing that took place at 207 Bornt Hill Rd in the Town of Union. A suspect is in custody and the victim was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital with serious injuries. The Sheriff's Office received assistance was provided from the State Police and the Endicott Police Department, the investigation is continuing.

Broome County Sheriff’s #1 Most Wanted fugitive was arrested last night following a traffic stop in Philadelphia. 27 year old Jeremy Lewis of Endicott, was wanted for possession of a handgun that was discovered during a domestic disturbance in Endicott on October 12, 2023. Lewis fled the area and law enforcement had initially been unable to locate him. The Broome County Sheriff’s Warrants Division had tracked Lewis to the Philadelphia area and alerted the local U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force, Lewis was located during a routine traffic stop on Monday evening, Lewis will remain in custody in Philadelphia until he is extradited back to Broome County for arraignment.

41 year old Rasheed Crawford of Binghamton pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Robbery in Broome County Court. On April 8th, at the Mirabito Service Station on Court Street in Binghamton, and on April 10th, at EZ Food Mart on East Main Street in Endicott, Crawford forcibly stole lottery tickets and cash from store clerks while brandishing what looked like a handgun. Crawford is scheduled to be sentenced on November 8th, to 8 years in State Prison followed by three years of post-release supervision.
