The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner this evening. This year's "Citizen of the Years" will be honored, they are Paul Eaton and Carl Griffith, and The “Business of Years” is the Sidney Elks Club, who will host the Annual Dinner tonight, the doors open at 5:30, dinner is served at 6:30.

5 people were arrested Friday on drug charges, after Norwich police, with help from the Chenango & Delaware County Sheriff’s department, executed a “no knock’ search warrant at a suspected “One Pot Meth” operation on Eaton Avenue in Norwich. Arrested were 23 year old Bradley Bishop, of Norwich, 37 year old Nathan Diamond of Norwich, and 42 year old Michael Hackett of Norwich in connection of the alleged manufacturing of Methamphetamines at that location, Police also charged 45-year-old Heather Angelino & 40-year-old Neil Graef of Norwich, for loitering. Bishop, Diamond and Hackett were arraigned in Norwich City Court & all were remanded to the Chenango County Jail, Angelino and Graef were both released on appearance tickets.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 68-year-old Earl Eaton of Greene, Saturday following an accident on Pigeon Hill Road in the Town of Fenton. Deputies responded to the report of a car hitting into a tree, Eaton was transported to an hospital for evaluation, Eaton was charged with DWI, Unreasonable speed, Failure to maintain lane, & driving left of pavement markings, he will answer to the charges in Town of Fenton Court at a later date.

On Saturday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Chenango County Airport Day will be held at the Eaton Airport in Norwich. The day starts with a Fly-In breakfast starting at 8:00 am. The Buffalo Heritage Squadron will be bringing the SNJ-4, a World War II era trainer jet. The EAA will also be providing free rides to children ages 8 to 17 as part of the Young Eagles program.

On Sunday, the Chenango County American Legion will host a joint visitation by the Legion's State Commander James Yermas, & State Auxiliary President Jan Mahoney among others. the leaders will visit Oxford's Fort Hill Post 376, the Veterans' Home at Oxford, the Chenango County Sheriff's Department in Norwich, followed by a reception & dinner at the Lieutenant Warren Eaton, DSC Post 189, at 29 Sheldon Street, Norwich.

Colgate University officials and the Madison County Sheriff's Office University have identified the students as Cathryn Depuy and Ryan Adams, both 18 years old and from Ridgefield, Connecticut. The 2 freshmen were killed Sunday after their small plane crashed in a wooded area in the Town of Eaton in Madison County, shortly after take off from Hamilton Municipal Airport. Officials said that Depuy was at the controls of the single-engine Cessna 150, Federal Aviation Administration officials & the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. A community vigil has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight at Colgate University.

State Police arrested 62-year-old Jeffrey Kennedy of Eaton, for aggravated DWI with a B.A.C. result of .21% and other traffic violations. The arrest occurred after Kennedy was observed failing to keep right on State Route 12 in the Town of North Norwich. Kennedy was issued tickets returnable to the Town of North Norwich Court on September 23rd

Tomorrow will be the 25th annual Chenango County Airport Day, at the Eaton Airport in Norwich, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A wide variety of events are scheduled throughout the day, more information is available at 337-1640.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Department arrested 63-year-old David Eaton of Norwich felony DWI, Parking on Pavement, No or Improper Signal, Refusal to take a Breath Screen test, Consumption of an alcohol in a motor vehicle. Eaton was pulled over by a deputy, who observed a pickup truck pull over and park in a no parking zone in the Village of Sherburne hitting the curb, as the deputy approached, Eaton pulled away from the curb with no turn signal, and then stopped after driving a block, he was taken into custody without incident, failed to submit to the chemical test, and was arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court, he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $1,000 cash bail pending court action at a later date.

Commerce Chenango will hold their next “Business After Hours” event today. UHS Home Care sponsors the event, it will be held at the Eaton Center in Norwich from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

The next Commerce Chenango Business After Hours event will be held today, at the new Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center at the Eaton Center in Norwich.  The event runs from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  The UHS Stratton Center for Therapies and SECO in Norwich have combined services and are operating at their new location.

Governor Cuomo announced that $48 million in grants have been awarded for transportation improvements across the State, which will leverage an additional $80 million in federal, state and local funding. The grants are funding projects that will improve transportation infrastructure and support economic development.  Grants are being awarded locally for the Eaton Airport in Norwich for a New maintenance Vehicle, for the Sidney Municipal Airport for Fuel farm upgrades, for New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway Corporation to Relocate interchange between CSX & NYS&W to NYS&W property to improve safety & service on both lines. Other local projects include the Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society, for the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad Rehabilitation. more information is available at governor.ny.gov.

Family Planning of South Central New York will mark National HIV Testing Day by offering free anonymous rapid HIV testing and counseling today at 4 area location.  Spokesperson Ingrid Husisian explains:

Commerce Chenango will present the Distinguished Business of the Year Award to Golden Artist Colors, the Commitment to Community award to Steven Palmatier, and the Young Professional award to Lisa Natoli tonight. The awards will be presented at Commerce Chenango’s 54th Annual Dinner, sponsored by NBT Bank and Frontier, at the Eaton Airport in Norwich.
