U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro announced his constituent service team will hold mobile office hours Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm at the Town of Oneonta Town Hall in West Oneonta. Constituents will be able to connect with representatives from Rep. State Police arrested 3 people after a fight at the Lantern Hill trailer park in Oneonta Saturday. An investigation by Troopers at the scene determined that 25 year old La-Tee Baker of Oneonta, 21 year old Bryanna Patterson of Oneonta, and 23 year old Bethany Brown of Delhi, were involved in a fight, both women sustained injuries, Brown was transported to A.O. Fox Hospital. Baker and Patterson were located by Troopers walking along State Highway 23 and were arrested. They were issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on November 21, 2023. After release from the hospital, Brown was charged with Assault, she was issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on December 5.

State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 44 year old Erin Walker of Union, for 3rd degree Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records. An investigation revealed that Walker embezzled approximately $12,000 from American Window Cleaning Company in the town of Fenton from 2016 to 2022. Walker was arrested and brought to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Central Arraignment.

An investigation revealed that Walker embezzled approximately $12,000 from American Window Cleaning Company in the town of Fenton from 2016 to 2022. Walker was arrested and brought to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Central Arraignment.
The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council will host a public open forum today to solicit feedback and priorities from the community, today at 5:30 at SUNY Delhi. The session will be led by Omar Sanders, who is the regional director of the Southern Tier Regional Council, he will be joined by representatives from River Street Planning and Development of Troy, they will focus on talent attraction and retention. State Comptroller's office conducted an audit of the South Kortright School District, the audit found that District officials generally ensured claims were adequately supported and properly audited prior to payment, certain purchases lacked necessary supporting documentation. There were issues with Request for Proposals for 7 professional service providers and the insurance provider & 18 claims were approved without documentation. The Auditors recommend that the claims auditor and deputy claims auditor Conduct a thorough and deliberate audit of each claim before authorizing payment.

The Utica City School District today released the name of the security officer who was shot after a football game at Proctor High School. District Officials said that Jeff Lynch was shot Saturday, he was taken to an area hospital, he is recovering & is expected to be released shortly according to the Utica Police Department. An unidentified 16 year old male was charged with 2nd degree attempted Murder, Criminal possession of a weapon, among other similar charges.

Delaware County Sheriff's office arrested 61 year old Ila Husarenko of Walton for DWI following a Motor Vehicle Accident Friday. Deputies responded to a 1 car motor vehicle accident with injuries on County Highway 21, Town of Walton. Deputies observed that a vehicle had left the roadway and entered into a ditch alongside the roadway. Husarenko was arrested for DWI & on a number of lesser charges & was transported to Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

State Police at Richfield Springs were dispatched to assist the Richfield Fire Department with a fire in a 2nd-floor bathroom at Richfield Springs Central School. An investigation revealed that a 15-year-old male intentionally lit a soap dispenser on fire, which caused property damage only. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was charged with 2nd degree Arson.

Deputies responded August 3rd to a Motor Vehicle Accident on State Highway 28 in the Town of Delhi. Hibbard was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a B.A.C of .08 or higher and moving from lane unsafely, she was ordered to appear in Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 24 year old Amir Robinson of Binghamton for Unlawful Imprisonment, Tampering with Evidence, Menacing and Harassment, following a dispute with a firearm in the town of Dickinson on August 2nd. Deputies responded to a report of a male with a firearm who would not leave a room at the Econo Lodge on Old Front Street, he allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to kill her. Upon arrival at the scene, responding deputies located Robinson in the nearby vicinity and detained him without incident. Robinson was arraigned at central arraignment and remains in custody pending future court action.
59 year old Valerie Alexander of Delhi, appeared in Delaware County Court, she pleaded guilty to Welfare Fraud and was sentenced to 9 months incarceration. Alexander admitted that she stole public assistance benefits totaling $2,530, she was ordered to pay restitution to the Delaware County Department of Social Services.

High School Graduations are scheduled all over the Southern Tier this weekend. Hancock Commencement exercises began this morning, other districts with ceremonies today include Afton, Andes, Charlotte Valley, Deposit, Downsville, Edmeston, GMU, Laurens, Milford, Morris, South Kortright, Schenevus, Unatego & Windsor. Saturday Graduation ceremonies will include Sidney, Bainbridge Guilford, Norwich, Oneonta, Delaware Academy, Greene, Harpursville, Oxford Academy, Unadilla Valley, Sherburne Earlville & Walton. 2 area district will hold their ceremonies on Sunday, they are Cooperstown & Worcester.
The State Comptroller's Office audited the Afton Central School District, , they found that the Afton Board and District officials did not effectively manage the District’s fund balance, so they levied more taxes than needed to fund operations and were not transparent with taxpayers. The Board annually overestimated appropriations by an average of $1.1 million or 7%. The District incurred $63,561 in unnecessary interest and other associated costs for the issuance of bonds to purchase school buses. The Comptrollers office recommended adopting realistic budgets, Reduce surplus fund balance to comply with the statutory limit to benefit taxpayers. District officials agreed with our recommendations and indicated they will take corrective action, the full report can be found at osc.state.ny.us.

State Comptroller's office announced the results of an audit of the Oxford Academy and Central School District. District officials did not comply with competitive bidding requirements for 33 of 35 transportation contracts totaling $322,056, fuel credit card purchases resulting totaling $16,258 did not comply with district procedures, and that vehicle repair invoices and parts ordered by the vehicle maintenance and repair vendor were not reviewed to verify that the parts ordered were for district vehicles.
The Town of Sidney Highway Department announced that Back River Road will be closed from Rte 357 to Exit 10 starting June 26th thru June 28th. It will also be closed July 5th and July 6th for paving, area motorists are advised to use other local roads during the work periods.

At the completion of their investigation, Officers located and arrested Wignall in the Village of Hancock, he is charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Wignall is scheduled to re- appear at Delhi Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Several Area Fire Departments were called to the scene of a structure fire on Mary Brown Road in the town of Laurens this morning At about 9:10 AM. Firefighters from Laurens, Hartwick, Milford, West Oneonta, Morris & Oneonta have responded, The fire was called in an occupant, who reported that all other occupants escaped without injuries. Firefighters were still at the scene early this afternoon, WCDO News will have more information as it becomes available.

Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 52 year old Robin Reese of Bainbridge pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Driving While Intoxicated, in the Village of Delhi on 2 separate occasions. Reese admitted that she had a previous DWI conviction within the prior 10 years, which resulted in these charges being felonies, she was sentenced to 2 separate terms of 5-year felony probation supervision, she was also sentenced to Adult Treatment Court, she must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and successfully comply with any treatment recommendations. Reese's license was revoked, and the Court imposed fines and surcharges in the amount of $4,140.00.

Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 52 year old Robin Reese of Bainbridge pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Driving While Intoxicated, in the Village of Delhi on 2 separate occasions. Reese admitted that she had a previous DWI conviction within the prior 10 years, which resulted in these charges being felonies, she was sentenced to 2 separate terms of 5-year felony probation supervision, she was also sentenced to Adult Treatment Court, she must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and successfully comply with any treatment recommendations. Reese's license was revoked, and the Court imposed fines and surcharges in the amount of $4,140.00.

Since that time, AK has been at a Syracuse area hospital recuperating from her injuries, she returned home April 4th, on Wednesday, AK was a special guest on The Nate Lull Podcast, she said that she is grateful for the support she has received since returning home from the hospital:

Several area fire companies responded shortly after 12:00 Noon today for the report of a Brush Fire in the vicinity of 237 Main Street in Delhi. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes, fire companies remind are residents that the gusty winds & low humidity make conditions favorable for brush fires, the state's burn ban remains in effect until May 14th.
Hundreds of Firefighters were battling a brush fire on the Otsego County-Schoharie County border yesterday afternoon at about 3:00 PM. Firefighters stayed at the scene into the night, the fire is believed to have started from a spark from a train, and spread quickly due to gusty winds & dry weather conditions. A command post is being opened this morning at the Richmondville Elementary school, The fire stretched about 6 miles.

Walton fire fighters responded to 14 Tripp Avenue in Walton last Wednesday for a shed and a garage fire that spread to a nearby house. Firefighters arrived to the scene, 2 occupants had escaped the fire, 2 neighboring homes were evacuated, The shed and garage were destroyed, home suffered significant damage on the second floor, 1 firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Walton was assisted by Delhi and Trout Creek Fire Departments, Sidney Fire Department’s FAST team. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 63 year old Patrick Logan for failure to register under the sex offender registration act; Logan was taken to the Central Arraignment Part Court at the Broome County Correction Facility for arraignment.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34 year old Justin Terenzi of Berkshire, for failing to appear for a court date in January of 2023 after being previously arraigned on a charge. Terenzi was charged with Bail Jumping & was taken to the Central Arraignment for arraignment.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to disabled vehicle on County Highway 26 in the Town of Hamden. During the course of the investigation Sheriff’s Deputies identified the driver as 21 year old Edwards Khali of Delhi, Deputies discovered that Khali’s vehicle was suspended due to an insurance lapse. Khali was charged with with Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Registration & Unregistered Vehicle, he was released on an appearance ticket, and was directed to appear before the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer for the charge.

SUNY Oneonta & the Sidney Central School District have set up a teacher pipeline initiative to bring SUNY Education students into the Sidney School District, which could lead to a teaching position in Sidney for the SUNY graduates, Sidney Superintendent Eben Bullock explains:

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 45 year old Matthew Brady of Delhi following an investigation of abuse in the Town of Milford. Brady was charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person, Endangering the Welfare of a Child & Harassment, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on November 2nd 2022 at Springbrook in the Town of Milford. Brady was unable to be located and a warrant for arrest was issued through the Town of Milford Court, he turned himself in and was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Milford Court at a later date.

47 year old Matthew Coley of Roseboom was arrested In Montgomery County & has been turned over to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office. Coley was charged with 2nd degree Strangulation & 3rd Degree Assault following an investigation into a domestic incident in March of 2020. A warrant was issued for Coley arrest, he was picked up following a traffic stop & was arraigned at Otsego County Central Arraignment and released on his own recognizance.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40 year old Denise Wells of Herkimer for Driving while impaired by drugs charges. Deputies received a 911 call report on December12th of an erratic driver on State Highway 10, which resulted in a motor vehicle accident near Fitches Bridge. Wells is accused of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, she was additionally issued the traffic tickets of Unsafe Lane Change and Failure to Keep Right. Wells was released and scheduled to return to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date to answer for these charges.
The Charlotte Valley Central School District was notified by the Town of Davenport that the town water district was experiencing water pressure issues this weekend. Today, the District's water pressure was below acceptable limits & the school was closed. Town of Davenport officials were continuing today to try to find the source of a water leak affecting the pressure, There were no classes or after school activities today, district officials will post an update later today on their website whether there will be classes on Tuesday.

David is accused of subjecting 2 female victims to unwanted sexual contact on 2 separate occasions while residing at the facility. David was charged with 2 counts of Forcible Touching, he was processed and will return to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date. An order of protection was issued for each of the victims.

Delaware County Sheriff's deputies arrested 24 year old Henry Kaufmann of Delhi following an investigation into a 1 vehicle accident Friday night on State Highway 10 in Delhi. Deputies responded to the accident site, where the driver left the scene, Kaufmann was later located & he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, operating with no seat belt, and open container. The vote will be December 13th at the school's main entrance.

Today & tomorrow, Sidney Central School District Alumni will join retiring band director Gregg Norris on stage for 2 evenings of music. Both concerts begin at 7:00 pm in the Sidney High School Auditorium and are free and open to the public. Tonight's concert will highlight the regionally known jazz program, Saturday evening will feature the Concert Band program. Sidney Alumni from as far back as 1973 are scheduled to participate.
The American Red Cross Continues to schedule Blood Drives as supplies are expected to remain low through the upcoming summer months. New York State has reverted to calling the "TASC" program back to it's original name "GED", for those interested in earning their High school Diploma, local Program director June White told WCDO News of the programs origins & of their current programs:

Fire destroyed 3 commercial buildings in Worcester Friday Night into Saturday Morning. The buildings were not occupied when the fire broke out, several area fire departments assisted Worcester Firefighters with the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The 28th annual Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival will be held September 10th & 11th in East and West Parks in Norwich in Norwich. 95 exhibitors will be at the annual Arts Festival, organizers are also inviting all high school art seniors in Chenango and adjacent counties to apply for Colorscape's 2022 Francis K. Wilcox Emerging Young Artist Scholarship. The application form is available at colorscape.org, The application deadline is June 17th.

20 year old Makahi Bryant of Brooklyn, was sentenced today in a federal court in Binghamton unemployment fraud. Bryant made thousands of dollars in illegal transactions when he was a student at SUNY Delhi, he admitted that he obtained 2 debit cards containing unemployment insurance benefits by the state of California, he illegally made over $13,000 in transactions using the debit cards for cash or other items. Bryant was sentenced to 3 years probation, 60 hours of community and he was ordered to pay restitution to California.
The Sidney Central School District will be holding 2 COVID-19 at-home test kit distributions, with a drive-thru service at the Jr./Sr. High School horseshoe parking lot. The distributions dates will be Today from 11:00am-1:00pm and Thursday, from 11:00am-1:00pm. State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released his annual report of schools in fiscal stress or susceptible to fiscal stress. East Ramapo in Rockland County & Newfield in Tioga County were the only 2 districts with significant stress, 21 school district were listed as susceptible to fiscal stress, none of the Districts in the Tri-county area made the list.
Delaware County Sheriff's deputies arrested 34 year old Taylor Lovette of Amherst for driving with a suspended license. Deputies stopped a vehicle on State Highway 10 in the Town of Delhi on January 16th, operated by Lovette for driving with a headlight out. Lovette’s Driver’s license was suspended due to lack of insurance, he was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operator, and Operating with Inadequate Headlamps, he was released on tickets for Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
NYSEG reported 1249 without power in Afton overnight, with 59 out in the Town of Coventry. NYSEG is working to restore power as soon as possible. Due to this morning's power outage, the Afton Central School District is on a 2 hour delay.
