Jordan Patch of Animal Adventure announced today that he has withdrawn a request for a small business municipal fund for $30,000 from Broome County. Patch said in a letter released today that he appreciated the efforts of Broome County Executive Jason Garner with the funding program, but said that an email from an un-named Broome County Legislator accusing Patch & Animal Adventure of criminal activity was inappropriate, and that his business was being used as a chip in a political game. Patch said that he will address his concerns with the lawmaker in question, the entire Broome County Legislature & the public at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 32 year old Bradley Wallace of Delhi for 3rd degree assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, and unlawful imprisonment, following an investigation of a domestic dispute in the Town of Delhi. Wallace was arraigned in Town of Delhi Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 secured bond.
A State of Emergency has been declared for Deposit and Sanford because of flash flooding, by Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. Road damage and flooded basements have been reported, The State of Emergency will remain in effect until further notice.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 34 year old Otto Mullen of Cobleskill for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and other traffic infractions, after a traffic stop where Mullen was observed traveling at a high rate of speed on State Highway 10 in the Town of Hamden. Mullen is accused of operating a motor vehicle while his driving privileges were suspended & possessing marihuana. Mullen was processed and released with appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Hamden Court at a later date.

Oneonta City Police arrested 30-year-old John Smith of Oneonta & 24-year-old Duane Oates of Schenectady foo multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing cocaine in their vehicle. Both men face action in Oneonta city court shortly; additionally Oates was wanted on a parole warrant & was sent to the Otsego County jail.
This afternoon U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will appear at 2:25 at Co-owners of 3i Graphics & Signs to push bipartisan legislation, the Investing in America’s Small Manufacturers Act. Gillibrand states that the bill would increase the availability of affordable loans for small manufacturers through the Small Business Administration’s loan guarantee programs, it would also eliminate a penalty that new manufacturers are required to pay when applying for an SBA 504 loan. The plan was initiated earlier this year when Governor Cuomo called on municipalities to share services to lower property taxes, if approved, this plan has the potential to save Broome County over $20 Million Dollars. Charged were 24 year old Cecily Choi of New Jersey, 20 year old Adrian Beall of Texas & 37 year old Jason Rodriguez of Brooklyn. All 3 subjects are accused of possessing numerous narcotics & marihuana, they were charged with 3 counts each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal use of Drug paraphernalia, Rodriguez was also charged with the misdemeanor of Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drugs. They were arraigned in the Town of Afton court and remanded to the Chenango County jail without bail.
A Roxbury man and woman were arrested by Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators on felony drug possession charges Monday following a probation search that led to the seizure of approximately one hundred (100) grams of powder and crack cocaine, over eleven hundred dollars ($1100.00) cash and a number of fireworks. Sheriff’s Investigators arrested and charged 30 year old David Dykstra and 33 year old Lisa Skala on 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks. Dykstra was being supervised by the Delaware County Probation Department from a 2016 conviction in New Jersey. Dykstra and Skala were arraigned & were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $150,000 bail pending further court action.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar announced his efforts to work with local municipalities under Governor Cuomo’s Shared Services Property Tax Savings Plan. The panel will be comprised of the Mayor or Supervisor from each city, town and village in Broome County. The first meeting of the Shared Services panel will be Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 AM at Cornell Cooperative Extension on Front Street; the public is invited to make recommendations at three public meetings. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 20th in the Decker Room of the Broome County Library from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. If the plan is approved it will be presented to the public in September 2017.
The Otsego County Planning Department is hosting a FREE training program tonight for members of planning boards and zoning boards of appeals. The workshop will be held at the Otsego County MEADOWS OFFICE COMPLEX, County Highway 33w, in Cooperstown.

Cooper was arraigned in the City of Binghamton Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Department reported that 42 year old Scott Gross of Windsor was killed when a tractor trailer hit his disabled Jeep on Route 17 in Windsor, early Thursday morning. Gross suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene, after his vehicle was hit from behind by a tractor trailer driven by 42 year old Anthony Baker of Solvay, at about 1:30 AM Thursday, both vehicles went over an embankment. Baker was taken to Wilson Hospital for head injuries, he was released, and no tickets were issued.
