Governor Cuomo announced that the State
Police will target speeding and aggressive drivers during a special
weeklong traffic enforcement initiative. This year's "Speed Week"
enforcement crackdown started yesterday and runs through next Wednesday.
Troopers will also actively patrol highway work zones and will target drivers
who violate the "Move Over" Law.
State Senator Jim Seward announced Senate approval
of legislation to help increase safety for limousine passengers, following the
crash of a limo that killed 20 people in Seward's district in Schoharie last
October:

The package of 9 bills approved by the Senate would
increase insurance requirements for limousines, ensure drivers undergo drug and
alcohol testing & create a state hotline allowing the public to report
safety concerns.
The Annual SFCU Hometown Day Parade will be held
tomorrow starting at 12:00 Noon. SFCU

The Parade will start at the Sidney High School and
go down West Main Street, then onto Main & River Street & conclude at
Keith Clark Park.
The 5th Annual Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Golf
Tournament & Fundraiser will be held June 9th at the Sidney Golf &

The Afton Fair will be running from June 20th to
the 23rd this year at the Fairgrounds in Afton.

This year will the 130th running of the AFTON FAIR.
The HOPS Brewclub is pouring homebrewed beer to
raise money for Super Heroes in Ripped Jeans animal shelter, Saturday from 1:00
to 4:00 PM at the American Legion in Oneonta.
Suggested donation for the event is $25 and comes with a commemorative
glass. Tickets can be purchased at The
8th Note Music Store & Super Heroes in Ripped Jeans Thrift Store. Donations can also be made by check to Super
Heroes in Ripped Jeans, 697 Winney Hill Road, Oneonta, NY 13820 or online paypal.me/superheroesirj
The Annual Meredith Dairy Fest will be held this
Saturday & Sunday. The event will
run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day at 3575 Honest Brook Road in Meridale,

The Algonquin Antique Auto Club will hold their
annual Car show on Sunday at General Clinton Park. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
participants will be judged in 22 categories.
Former Oxford Academy teacher's assistant Heaven
Parrish of Smithville Flats pleaded guilty to 2nd degree attempted rape this
week. Parrish was accused of having a
sexual relationship with an under aged male student, she will have to register
as a sex offender & faces court action again on June 14th in Chenango
County Court.
A Delaware County Grand Jury handed down a Seal
Indictment Thursday relating to a narcotics trafficking investigation in the
Hancock area. Deputies arrested 39 year-old Wilbur Tyrrell, of Starlight,
Pennsylvania, on the Sealed Indictment Arrest Warrant as he attempted to flee,
on foot, across the bridge from the Village of Hancock into the State of
Pennsylvania. The Grand Jury accused Tyrrell of 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a
Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling Methamphetamines & Xanax, he
was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental
Administration.

tonight at General Clinton Park, American cancer Society organizer Heather
Brewster explains what the funds are used for:

Brewster said that they expect to raise about
$50,000 with today’s event.
Hartwick College’s Foreman Gallery presents
Broadway Revealed: Behind the Theater Curtain, an exhibit showcasing some of
Broadway’s most critically acclaimed productions, by renowned photographer
& Oneonta native Stephen Joseph. The exhibit opens with a reception on
Sunday at 3:00 PM, Broadway Revealed runs through August 11, and is free and
open to the public. Joseph is currently
photographing “behind the scenes” at The Glimmerglass Festival in
Cooperstown. More information is

The Director of the Delaware County Office for the
Aging, Wayne Shepard announced that he will retire on August 21st after serving
8 years with the agency. A new director is expected to be appointed shortly.
This morning from 8:30 to 10:00 AM will be the
"Bagels and Benefits” Otsego County Chamber Membership Orientation at the
Chamber offices at 189 Main Street on the 5th floor. The orientations are Free & open to new
members.
