Jurors have received their instructions in Schoharie County Court today, as deliberations have begun in the 3rd cal Harris murder trial. Harris is accused of killing his estranged wife Michelle in September of 2001, he was convicted in his 2 previous trials, this 3rd trial was moved from Tioga to Schoharie county, it lasted more than 11 weeks prior to the jury deliberations.
Governor Cuomo today launched the Upstate Revitalization Initiative and Round 5 of the Regional Economic Development Councils kicking off the 2015 competitions for $1.5 billion and up to $750 million in state economic development resources, respectfully. This year, the 10 Regional Councils will compete for awards from up to $750 million in state economic development resources through Round 5 of the competition. Additionally, through the new Upstate Revitalization Initiative, 7 regions including the Southern Tier are competing for three $500 million awards spread out over 5 years.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office, received this week that led to the arrest of 24-year-old Jesus Torres of Oneonta. Torres is accused of storing a rental car in a garage he was renting on Chestnut Street; the vehicle had been reported stolen by the New York City Police Department. Torres was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, & aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, he was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta Court and taken to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Oneonta Court on May 21.
Governor Cuomo discussed the final Blueprint produced by the State’s Ending the Epidemic Task Force, to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the State by 2020.

The Blueprint Identifying people with HIV who remain undiagnosed and linking them to health care, and getting them on anti-HIV therapy & Providing access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for high-risk people. Additional information is available at health.ny.gov/ete.
Adirondack chairs decorated by local artists will be on display in Bainbridge this weekend, which will be auctioned off in May. Bainbridge Chamber President John Payne explains:

The State DEC today announced a new 15-day public comment period on the re-submitted Water Quality Certificate application for the proposed, federally regulated Constitution Pipeline. Public comments on the proposed project will now be accepted until close of business on Thursday, May 14. Those who submitted comments during the first comment period which ended February 27, 2015 do not need to resubmit their comments. Written comments should be submitted to the DEC Division of Environmental Permits, 625 Broadway, 4th Floor, Albany, 12233. or email to dec.sm.constitution@dec.ny.gov. A City of Cortland resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for DWI and other traffic offenses. 27 year old Libny Torres was charged with DWI & unsafe lane change following an investigation into a motor vehicle accident on I-88 in the Town of Afton. TORRES allegedly fell asleep at the wheel prior to veering off the roadway and into a guide rail. Torres was arraigned in the Town of Afton court and is being held ON $5,000 cash bail & is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.
Delaware County Public Health is holding a “Medical Countermeasures” drill on Today, to practice and test the ability to dispense large amounts of medicine in the event of a public health threat such as a disease outbreak or bioterrorism threat to the community.All are welcome to attend the drill. There is no pre-registration required. No medications are actually being dispensed.
