Over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, State troopers conducted an underage drinker identification detail.  Troopers checked a total of 16 convenience stores in Broome County, all 16 businesses and sales clerks were found in compliance and no arrests were made.


The Bronx Wanderers will be performing at the Chenango Arts Council Martin W. Kappel Theater tonight in Norwich.  Chenango Arts spokesperson Victoria Kappel comments:

The Guernsey Library in Norwich will hold their Annual Open House tonight, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.    The Open House is open to all community members, more information is available at 334-4034.


Free 5-gallon pails of remixed exterior latex paint are now available to non-profit agencies and Otsego County residents.  The pain is available on a first come first serve basis, it was collected as part of the county’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in September, it was re-mixed and packaged for distribution through the generosity of Golden Artist Colors of New Berlin.  More information is available by calling the Otsego County Planning Department at 547-4225.


State police at Oneonta arrested 21-year-old Travis Cole & 27-year-old Heather Cole of Oneonta for unlawful possession of marihuana.  The arrests occurred after a vehicle stop for loud exhaust on Orchard Street in Oneonta, a search of the vehicle and occupants found them to possess marihuana.  Both were issued tickets returnable to the Oneonta town court on December 10th.


A free electronic recycling event will be held at the Sidney library tomorrow from 9:30 to 3:30.  Residents can drop off their old electronics for recycling at the back entrance to the Smart community room.


The Chenango memorial hospital auxiliary will host ”Breakfast with Santa” tomorrow from 8:00 to 10:00 AM in the hospital cafeteria.  The event includes a full breakfast buffet and pictures with Santa, courtesy of NBT Bank; tickets are $5.00 at the door.


The Bainbridge Guilford teachers association will hold its 3rd annual holiday craft fair tomorrow from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Greenlawn Elementary School in Bainbridge.  The event is free to the public; proceeds will benefit the BG Student council “Angel Fund” which provides holiday baskets & turkeys to local families in need.


The Sidney American legion auxiliary will host their annual craft & bake sale tomorrow from 9:00 to 4:00, with vendors selling jewelry, books, signs, quilts, afghans, painted glass, embroidered towels and scarves.  Lunch will be served between 10:00 & 2:00 PM.

The annual toys for tots train visit will be tomorrow in Bainbridge.  Toys for Tots coordinator Roger Barnhart explains:

People may donate toys at tomorrow’s Toys for Tots Train visit, which will be at noon in downtown Bainbridge.


The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will have their annual Jolly Holly days parade tonight, followed by other activities leading up to Christmas.  Chamber spokesperson Kerri Green said that there are some other features with tonight’s parade:

The children’s holiday party will be held on Saturday December 14th at the Sidney library, registration is requested by calling the chamber office at 561-2642 or 267-8541.  The Annual House Decorating Contest, where houses are judged for their holiday decorations, will be held on the weekend of December 20th through the 22nd.


Sidney village police have received a number of complaints regarding larcenies from vehicles in the area of Circle Drive, Fox Street, Bird Avenue and Johnson Circle.  Police said that all of the crimes involved vehicles that were left unlocked.  Those who discover that their vehicles have been tampered with should contact Sidney police at 561-2301, police also remind residents to lock vehicles & homes.
