Governor Andrew Cuomo visited the Southern Tier region earlier today.  The governor appeared this morning at Binghamton University for the NY Rising Committee Meeting; he followed that with a noontime visit at SUNY Cobleskill, for another NY Rising committee meeting.


Chobani officials announced that the mold that triggered a recall of some of its Greek yogurt last week is not associated with food-borne illnesses like salmonella or E-coli. The company identified the mold as a common species that usually affects fruits, vegetables and other plants, and has also been linked to previous cases of spoiled yogurt.  The company is still investigating how the yogurt became contaminated, as there was no evidence of mold on the products when they left the company's Idaho facility.  Chobani formally recalled more than a half-dozen yogurt varieties last Thursday, with the product code 16-012 and expiration dates September 11th to October 7th.   95% of the affected products have already been pulled from shelves,


State Police at Oneonta arrested 29-year-old Brandon Wheeler, of Davenport for Felony Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC result of .13.  The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on State Route 28 in Oneonta where Wheeler was observed swerving his vehicle over the double yellow line.  Troopers determined that Wheeler was intoxicated and had a prior conviction for Driving While Intoxicated within the last 10 years.  Wheeler will appear in Town of Oneonta Court on September 24th.


State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that an Election Day hotline is up & running today,  to help ensure that minority-language voters, people with disabilities and all eligible voters are able to cast an effective ballot during the today’s  primary elections.  the Hotline is  800-771-7755, it will be open today through 9:00 PM.


The annual “Test Drive Your Seat" Event will be held this week at the Forum Theater in Binghamton.  Tina Niles of NAC Entertainment explains:

State police arrested 61-year-old Michael Sheridan of South Otselic for 2nd degree identity theft and 2nd degree scheming to defraud.  The arrest followed a complaint Saturday to state police at Norwich, Sheridan faces court action shortly.


Oneonta police arrested 21-year-old Elijah Vergari of Oneonta on charges of grand larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance and petty larceny.  Vergari was accused of talking a wallet at downtown business, and for allegedly going through parked vehicles.


A benefit is being held for TERESA SCHERMERHORN, on September 22, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at The Hitchin’ Post on route 7 on Belden Hill in Port Crane.  Area musical acts will perform including The Short Change Band, Jason Wicks & 9-1-1.   $10 Donations are encouraged, the fund raiser will include the Live Music, Food, Door Prizes, 50/50 Raffles, Chinese Auction, money raised will BENEFIT Teresa, who suffered a series of strokes, all money raised will help pay medical bills


Chenango county sheriff’s deputies arrested 31-year-old Dustin Fairchild of Greene on an active arrest warrant for 3rd degree assault.  Fairchild was arrested without incident and turned over to the Greene Police Department, he faces court action shortly.

State Police Employee Relations, announced that 35,203 people have signed up to take the exam.  The exam will be held at various locations around the state on October 5, 12, 19 and 26.  Troopers expect to place a recruit class from the eligibility list created by the October test during the summer of 2014.


Delaware County Deputies arrested 20 year old Cortney Hess of Grand Gorge, 24 year old Howard Macken of Grand Gorge and 37 year old Jason Conklin of Prattsville after an investigation of stolen scrap metal from Catskill Craftsman in Roxbury.  Deputies were alerted to this larceny through security cameras on the property.  All face action in town of Stamford court today at 6:00 PM.


Delaware County Deputies arrested 20 year old Christopher Bracci  of Delhi for Driving while Intoxicated, Failure to Submit to a Chemical test, Improper use of Dealer plates and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  He was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court. He was sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $1,000.00 cash bail.


The Delaware county department of public health nursing announced another Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats, and ferrets.  The clinic will be held today at Tractor Supply Company at 6396 State Highway 23 in Oneonta, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. more information call 607-832-5200, more information is available at delawarecountypublichealth.com
