37 year old Michael Brutvan of Binghamton, pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree in Broome County Court and will serve a sentence of 17 Years to Life in a New York State Correctional Facility. On May 13, 2025, the Binghamton Police Department was dispatched to the Salvation Army located at 131 Washington Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male inside the establishment suffering from stab wounds to the shoulder and neck. The victim was later pronounced deceased. Sentencing is scheduled for June 22, 2026, in Broome County Court.

41 year old Franklin Gentry of Utica was arrested by Norwich Police Friday for Attempted Murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Utica on February 15th. U.S. Marshals tracked gentry to Norwich, they coordinated with Norwich Police, Gentry was found Friday at West Main & Guernsey Street in Norwich at around 2:00 PM. Gentry was brought back to Utica by US Marshalls & faces court action On the attempted Murder charge, additional charges are anticipated.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 25 year old Christopher Roettger of Worcester, for 1st degree Assault & Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following an investigation into a stabbing during a domestic incident. Roettger fled the scene and responding deputies located a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the residence, who was taken to Bassett Hospital, Roettger returned to the scene to turn himself in, he was taken into custody without incident. Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence and the defendant’s vehicle where additional evidence was secured. The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended that bail be set at $100,000 cash, Roettger was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending Arraignment. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 41 year old Joseph Jimenez of Walton for Assault, Menacing, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following an incident December 10th in Walton. Deputies were dispatched to an assault where Jimenez is accused of engaging in a physical domestic with a tenant of the household in which Jimenez allegedly produced a bladed weapon, stabbing the victim multiple times. Deputies arrested Jimenez was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility where he was held pending arraignment.

State Police arrested 20 year old Ashton Pratt and 30 year old Amy Mills both of Glen Aubrey, for 1st & 2nd Degree Assault, NY, on Tuesday, Troopers responded to a stabbing on State Route 26 in the town of Nanticoke, where a road rage incident between 2 vehicles escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in a 40-year-old male victim being stabbed. The victim reported that a male and female exited their vehicle, Mills is accused of grabbing the victim by his sweatshirt, while Pratt is accused of stabbing the victim in the upper body, they fled the area, The victim was transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment; his injuries are not considered life-threatening. Through a collaborative effort among multiple State Police units, both suspects were located on Wednesday and were taken into custody without incident. Pratt and Mills were processed and transported to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment, The investigation is ongoing.

State Police responded to a fatal incident Thursday night at 1086 Castle Creek Road in the Town of Chenango. Troopers responded for a report of a stabbing, the initial investigation revealed that 50-year-old Harry Swan of Chenango, was involved in a physical altercation with 48-year-old Jeffrey Ryan of Binghamton. Ryan drove to the Swan's residence, where a confrontation ensued outside the home, with Ryan allegedly stabbing Swan, who went back inside the residence retrieved a knife and stabbed Ryan. Swan was pronounced deceased at the scene, Ryan was transported to Wilson Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is continuing.

33 year old Drew J. Garnier of Masonville was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison to be followed by 15 years of post-release supervision for the killing of his pregnant wife Samantha and assaulting his 2 daughters. Garnier admitted to repeatedly stabbing his wife and children in their home on Houck Road in the Town of Masonville on September 4, 2024. Samantha and her unborn daughter died as a result of the stabbing. The children suffered significant injuries. Garnier pleaded guilty to 1st degree Manslaughter, and 2 counts of 1st degree Assault in March in Delaware County Court.

On September 4, 2024, Garnier stabbed his pregnant wife, Samantha and their 2 children in their home on Houck Road in the Town of Masonville. Samantha died as a result of the stabbing, the children suffered significant injuries. Garnier pleaded guilty to 1st degree Manslaughter, 2 counts of 1st degree Assault, he withdrew all of his pending motions and agreed to waive his right to appeal as part of the plea agreement. State Police were dispatched Thursday by the Delaware County 911 Center to an assault on County Route 17 in the town of Hancock. 40 year old Nelson Lopez of Roscoe, violated an order of protection and caused physical injury to Julianna Stowers-Lopez of Roscoe, who also caused serious injury to Lopez by stabbing him in the upper body. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by separate ambulances to Wilson Medical Center. Both were released from the hospital Friday, Lopez was charged Criminal Contempt & 2nd degree Assault, Stowers-Lopez was charged with 1st degree Assault, Both were transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.

A suspect is in custody and the victim was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital with serious injuries. The Norwich Police Department is investigating a stabbing on Brown Avenue in Norwich Monday evening at approximately 11:40 PM. Norwich officers responded to the scene and found a 29-year-old male who had been stabbed multiple times, he was rushed to the emergency room at UHS in Norwich, he was transferred to Wilson Hospital with a collapsed lung and other serious medical conditions. Norwich officers any detectives have been collecting evidence and following up on leads and they are asking that if the public has any information to contact the police department at 607-334-2424.

The Johnson City Police Department arrested a 15 year old suspect this Morning in connection with a stabbing of an 18 year at the Johnson City High School this morning. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries & was taken to Wilson Hospital, The unidentified 15-year-old suspect was charged with 1st degree assault & criminal possession of a weapon & was being held at the Johnson City Police Department pending arraignment. The Johnson City High School was placed on lock-down.

State Police responded to a reported stabbing on a Trailways Transportation Bus, traveling from New York City to Binghamton. The bus was on State Highway 17 in the town of Deposit when the incident was reported and indicated that a female had been stabbed numerous times. State Police said that 32 year old Dominique Holloman of New York City fled when the bus stopped, he was located & was charged with 2nd degree Assault he was transported to the Delaware County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. The injured female had been traveling with Holloman, she was treated at Wilson Hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro announced that Opportunities for Otsego will receive $4.3 million dollars. The funds will be used to support the Head Start program, which provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children from low-income families.

State Police arrested 22 year old Corey Sawyer of Norwich for allegedly stabbing 2 people in Chenango County. Sawyer was charged with 2 counts each of Attempted Murder & 2nd degree Assault and 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Troopers responded Wednesday to a residence on State Route 80 in the town of Otselic just before 1:30 AM, Sawyer is accused of stabbing 2 people with a knife during a domestic dispute, The victims were both taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital then later transported to Wilson Medical Center, with non-life-threatening injuries. 3 children under the age of 17 were at the residence when the incident occurred. Sawyer was transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital due to injuries he sustained prior to Trooper’s arrival. He was treated and released, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $250-thousand cash bail, $500-thousand bond or $1-million partially secured bond. His next court date was set for October 4th.

State Police arrested 22 year old Corey Sawyer of Norwich for allegedly stabbing 2 people in Chenango County. Sawyer was charged with 2 counts each of Attempted Murder & 2nd degree Assault and 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Troopers responded Wednesday to a residence on State Route 80 in the town of Otselic just before 1:30 AM, Sawyer is accused of stabbing 2 people with a knife during a domestic dispute, The victims were both taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital then later transported to Wilson Medical Center, with non-life-threatening injuries. 3 children under the age of 17 were at the residence when the incident occurred. Sawyer was transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital due to injuries he sustained prior to Trooper’s arrival. He was treated and released, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $250-thousand cash bail, $500-thousand bond or $1-million partially secured bond. His next court date was set for October 4th.
State Police at Norwich are investigating a reported domestic incident that led to the stabbing of two individuals in the town of Otselic early this morning. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition. There is no threat to the public. The suspect was taken into custody by members of the New York State Police. More information will be provided when it is available.

Nicholas & Terry DeCutler were arraigned in Otsego County Court Monday on 2nd degree Murder charges. The Brothers are accused of fatally stabbing 24 year old Kaleb O'Neill in an alleyway at Dietz Street in Oneonta on Memorial Day. The DeCutler's were being held on Bail in the Otsego County Jail pending a court appearance on September 19th.

Terry DeCutler of Sidney and Nicholas DeCutler of Unadilla, will be facing Grand jury Action in Otsego County Court shortly, both were charged with 2nd-degree murder for the May 30th fatal stabbing of 24 year old Kaleb O’Neill in an alleyway near 6 Dietz Street in Oneonta. The DeCutler brothers are being held pending Grand Jury Action, the investigation is ongoing.

The Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that a grand jury has filed charges against 2 murder suspects in Broome County Court regarding unrelated homicide cases. Mitchell Lindow was charged with 1st degree murder in connection to a December 2nd stabbing, where Lindow allegedly killed David Royes while committing a felony burglary at 110 Main Street in Binghamton by stabbing him multiple times. Korchak also said that Kyle Babola is charged with 2nd degree murder for the killing of Scott Grover with a machete in Johnson City. Both face court action at a later date.

State Police announced today that 22 year old Michael Andreev Jr. has been charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree murder & 1 count of criminal possession of a weapon, for allegedly stabbing his father, 67 year old Michael Andreev Sr. and 12-year-old sister, Sofia Trusova in Jordanville Sunday. State Police said that they found Andreev Jr. in the front yard of the family residence with a neck laceration Sunday, he was taken to a Syracuse Hospital for treatment, and he was discharged today & was taken into police custody, he was processed and was being held in the Herkimer County Jail without bail, the investigation is still ongoing.
