Sidney Police Department located a man Monday who was wanted in the State of Arkansas. 34 year old Robert Herbert was arrested on a violation of parole warrant issued from the State of Arkansas. He was arraigned virtually as a fugitive from justice and remanded to the Delaware County Jail to await extradition to Arkansas.
The 146th Broome County Fair has been scheduled for July 27th through August 1st at the fairgrounds in Whitney Point. The 4-H Building and Cattle Barns are open to the public and all related events and shows are free, more information is available at broomecountyfairny.com.
State Police announced that 3 men, including State Trooper Kevin Krause worked as a team to try to save a bald eagle on I-88 in Sidney, after it was hit by a side view mirror of a car. The unidentified driver did attempt to avoid the bird and did stop; the eagle was taken by the New York State ENCON Officer to a Wildlife Center. State Police told WCDO News today that the Wildlife Center did everything they could, including emergency surgery, but unfortunately, the eagle did not make it.

Utica Police have arrested 32 year old Vanessa Armstead of Buffalo for criminal possession of stolen property, criminal trespass, burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief, after allegedly stealing a Kunkel Ambulance, which ended up in the Irondequoit Bay near Rochester Sunday afternoon. Armstead was involved in a separate crash on the Thruway on Saturday, and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment, after she was released, she went to Union Station in Utica, but never got on a train, she is accused of stealing the ambulance from the station on Catherine Street Sunday morning, she drove to Victor New York & crashed the ambulance into the bay. Armstead was rescued from the water and taken to shore; she was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Monroe County jail on $3,500 bail.

The Delaware county sheriffs department responded to a 3-car personal injury accident in Stamford yesterday. 23-year-old Kevin Matthew of New City crossed the double yellow line on State Route 23, striking a vehicle operated by 37-year-old William Eklund of Stamford. The force of the collision forced Eklund's vehicle to hit a parked car, which was occupied by 62-year-old Margaret Smith of Otego. All involved were taken to Fox Hospital in Oneonta for treatment, Mathew was ticketed for failure to keep right, speed not reasonable & Prudent, he will face court action on June 27th.
State Police responded to the report Sunday night of a man who jumped off of a highway overpass onto Interstate 88 in Oneonta, in an apparent suicide attempt. The victim was airlifted to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with a variety of injuries; the victims name & address are not being released.
Governor Cuomo & state leaders announced an agreement on legislation to improve rail safety measures across New York State. The agreement includes a series of initiatives that will reduce the risk of train-motor vehicle collisions at grade crossings across the State. The new initiatives will require coordinated, frequent inspections of traffic control devices at highway-rail crossings and impose penalties on railroad companies and repeat offender drivers who continue to disobey the law and ignore important safety requirements.

THE CHENANGO COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT ARRESTED A NEW BERLIN MAN SUNDAY FOR AGGRAVATED DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED. 46 YEAR OLD JEFFREY REYNOLDS WAS STOPPED FOR A MOVING VIOLATION IN THE VILLAGE OF NEW BERLIN AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE A BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT OF MORE THAN 3 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT. HE WILL APPEAR IN TOWN OF NEW BERLIN COURT AT A LATER DATE.
A TOWN OF SHERBURNE RESIDENT WAS ARRESTED LAST WEEK FOR A VARIETY OF CHARGES AFTER HE BROKE DOWN A DOOR TO A RESIDENCE AND ATTACKED A FAMILY MEMBER. 39 YEAR OLD JOHN BUSH WAS CHARGED WITH BURGLARY, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, CRIMINAL OBSTRUCTION OF BREATHING AND HARASSMENT DURING A DOMESTIC DISPUTE. HE WAS ARRAIGNED IN TOWN OF SHERBURNE COURT AND REMANDED TO THE CHENANGO COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY IN LIEU OF 25 HUNDRED DOLLARS BAIL. HE WILL APPEAR IN COURT AT A LATER DATE.
New details on the Delaware County couple that were involved in a fatal crash on Sunday in Otego when the golf cart they were driving was struck by a freight train near County Route 48 in Otego. New York State Police are reporting that the golf cart hit the side of the locomotive around 2:54 PM on Sunday afternoon. State Police are still investigating the circumstances of the case – hoping to find out why the couple hit the side of the train. They are unsure at this time if perhaps the cart was unable to stop at the time of the accident. Troopers have reported that it does not initially appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Charles Turk, 57, of Bloomville was killed in the accident. His wife, 58 year old, Cynthia Turk had 2 broken femurs. She is in stable condition at this time and her injuries are not life threatening. The Turk’s dog was also killed in the accident. WCDO will have more updates as they become available.
Those who would like to vote in their party's primary election on September 10th, need to register in person to their county board of elections by this Friday August 14th, or by mail with a postmark no later than August 15th. Several Primaries will be held through the region on the 10th for a variety of positions, with the winners to be placed on the General Election Ballot in November.

A Horseheads man is in critical condition after being hit by a train in the town of Union Friday night. New York State Police say, Travis J. Cliburn, 21, of Horseheads, was walking along the Norfolk - Southern Tier Train Tracks when he was hit by a train at approximately 11:15 Friday night. Cliburn was sent to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City and then transferred to Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse. He is in critical condition.
A woman from Virginia has filed a lawsuit over the helicopter crash that killed her three-year-old son and four other people in Pennsylvania in July. Crystal McKain is suing Hampton Road Charter Service in a wrongful death lawsuit. She said they negligently and recklessly allowed David Jenny to fly, even though he was not fully trained. According to federal investigators, Jenny was not certified to fly instrument only flights. They also said he did not receive a weather briefing before taking off from Endicott. Carl Robert, the boy's father, was also killed in the crash. McKain is suing for more than $550,000 in damages.
The Delaware County Department of Public Works has closed County Route 20 in the town of Masonville until Friday, August 23rd to replace a large culvert. Work is expected to be completed by 3pm on Friday the 23rd.
