Zephyr Teachout has officially dropped out of the race to be New York’s attorney general, days after incumbent Letitia James decided to seek reelection. Teachout lost the 2018 Democratic primary for attorney general to James, She also ran for the Democratic nomination for governor of New York in 2014, losing to Andrew Cuomo, and lost a congressional race in 2016 but Republican John Faso in the general election.

Former federal prosecutor Daniel Goldman has announced that he will run for New York Attorney General. Goldman's announcement comes a day after Zephyr Teachout said that she would seek the Democratic nomination for attorney general. Incumbent Attorney General Letitia James’ recently announced that she is running for Governor in 2022.

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney announced his bid for the state attorney general's position. Maloney is the 4th Democrat to enter the race, after Letitia James, Leecia Eve; & Zephyr Teachout, the nominee will be determined in the September primary. The only Republican candidate for state attorney general is Keith Wofford of New York City.

Former Gubernatorial & Congressional Candidate Zephyr Teachout announced that she will be running for State Attorney General. The Democrat currently teaches Law at Fordham University in the Bronx.

Former Gubernatorial & Congressional Candidate Zephyr Teachout announced THAT SHE MAY run for State Attorney General this year, to replace Eric Schneiderman, who resigned 1 week ago, follow accusations by 4 women that Schneiderman physically assaulted them. Teachout is currently an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University, she said that she will form an exploratory committee to consider running for Attorney General, She will make a final decision in the next few weeks.

The elections are over and here are the Winners for 2016: in The U.S. Senate seat for New York, Democrat Charles Schumer beats Republican Wendy Long by a better than 2 to 1 margin. In the House of Representatives: in the 19th Congressional District Race, Republican John Faso defeats Democrat Zephyr Teachout & in the 22nd Congressional district Race Republican Claudia Tenney wins over Democrat Kim Meyers & 3rd party Candidate Martin Babinec. In area State Senate races, Republican incumbents Fred Akshar, Jim Seward & John Bonacic were re-elected. In State Assembly Races, Incumbents Bill Magee Donna Lupardo & Gary Finch defeated their opponents, Cliff Crouch & Pete Lopez were re-elected, they ran unopposed. Broome county voters elected Democrat Jason Garner over incumbent Debbie Preston. John Hubbard wins for Delaware County District Attorney, he was unopposed, Peter McCann wins the election for Morris Town Judge, and Randall Mowers was elected to the Oneonta Town Board

Tomorrow is Election Day, and beyond the Presidential race, there are races of local importance in the Tri County Area. The U.S. SENATE SEAT for New York features incumbent Democrat Charles Schumer against vs. Republican Wendy Long.

In the House of Representatives 19th Congressional District Race to replace Chris Gibson, Republican John Faso is against Democrat Zephyr Teachout.

In the 22nd congressional district Race To Replace Richard Hanna, a three way battle exists between Republican Claudia Tenney, Democrat Kim Meyers & 3rd party Candidate Martin Babinec.

A Time Warner Cable/ Siena College poll released Tuesday shows Republican John Faso holding a 1% lead over Democrat Zephyr Teachout in the race for the 19th Congressional District. Faso had 43% and Teachout was at 42% for the congressional seat currently held by Republican Chris Gibson, who declined to seek re-election for another 2-year term.   The poll surveyed 678 likely voters; it has a margin of error of 3.8%.

Congressman Chris Gibson has endorsed Republican John Faso to replace him in the 19th Congressional district in November. Faso faces Democrat Zephyr Teachout for Gibson's seat in the General Election this year.

19th congressional district democratic party candidate Zephyr Teachout reported that in the second quarterly fundraising period that runs from April 1-June 30th, she received 69,704 contributions from 43,037 donors, at an average of $15.91, raising a total of $1,109,121.55 in that quarter. In total, Teachout raised $1,639,854.30 since she kicked off her campaign in January. The full filing will be publicly available on July 15th at www.fec.gov. Teachout faces Republican John Faso to replace Chris Gibson in the 19th Congressional district in the November General Election.

John Faso defeated Andrew Heaney for the Republican Party nomination in the 19th congressional district primary yesterday. Zephyr Teachout defeated Will Yandik for the Democratic Primary. Faso will face Teachout to replace Chris Gibson in November.

The Congressional Candidates for the 19th district will debate tonight in Oneonta. Republicans Andrew Heaney & John Faso will debate each other at 7:00 PM, Democrats Will Yandik & Zephyr Teachout will debate at 8:30 PM both will be at the Foothills Performing Arts Center, The debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

Republican Bob Bishop of Hamden drops out of 19th congressional district race. Delaware County Republican Bob Bishop has dropped his bid to replace Chris Gibson in the 19th Congressional District.  Remaining candidates include Republican John Faso & Andrew Heaney & Democrats Zephyr Teachout & Will Yandik.

All 5 announced Major Party candidates for the 19th congressional district seat would participate in a forum on Tuesday at the Oneonta High School. The Otsego County Farm Bureau sponsors the forum; it will run from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. The republican candidates are John Faso, Andrew Heaney, and Bob Bishop; the democratic candidates are Zephyr Teachout, and Will Yandik. The event is free and open to the public.

Teachout mounted an unsuccessful campaign for Governor 2 years ago, she is seeking to be the Democrat Party Candidate against possible Republican candidates Andrew Heaney or John Faso in the 19th district, current congressman Chris Gibson declined to seek another term in congress & is looking at a possible run for Governor.

Former gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout has announced her candidacy in the 19 congressional district. Teachout recently moved to Duchess County & is seeking to replace Republican Chris Gibson, who announced he would not seek another term in Congress. Republicans Andrew Heaney & John Faso have also announced their intentions to seek the congressional seat; assemblyman Pete Lopez recently withdrew from the race due to family health issues & will seek re-election in the state assembly.

Governor Andrew Cuomo easily defeated Zephyr Teachout for the Democratic Party nomination yesterday, in the state party primary elections. Cuomo received about 62% of the vote, will Teachout getting 34% of the Democratic Party support. Cuomo will face Republican Rob Astorino on Election Day. In the Lieutenant Governor's race, Kathy Hochul defeats Timothy Hu.

The Delaware County Department of Corrections announced that the 4th annual Andrew Brown Memorial Golf Tournament would be held tomorrow at Hardwood Hills gold Course in Masonville, with a tee time of 8:30 AM. Organizers announced that the money raise with this years tournament will go to the family of Johnson City Police officer David Smith, who was shot & killed in the line of duty on March 31st.

Governor Cuomo's campaign will not appeal a ruling allowing Zephyr Teachout to remain in the Democratic primary. A state appeals court rejected the campaign's argument that Teachout has spent part of the past five years in Vermont. A lower court had already ruled Teachout could stay on the ballot for the September 9th primary. Teachout teaches at Fordham University Law School in New York City. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found 85 percent of state Democrats said they know too little about Teachout to have any opinion of her.

The Latest Quinnipiac Poll shows Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to maintain a 2-to-1 advantage over his Republican challenger Rob Astorino in New York's gubernatorial race. The poll has Cuomo ahead 56% to 28% over Astorino. The poll finds that many voters remain unfamiliar with Astorino, or Democratic Party challenger Zephyr Teachout.

New York state students in grades 3-8 improved their performance in math in the 2nd year of Common Core testing, but their performance in English & Language Arts was the same. This year scores also showed significant gaps between racial and economic subgroups again. Common Core is expected to be a hot political issue in the coming gubernatorial campaign, with Republican & Conservative candidate Rob Astorino and Liberal Democrat Zephyr Teachout both vowing to get rid of the Common core standards if elected.

The Public Employees Federation endorsed Democratic candidate Zephyr Teachout over incumbent Andrew Cuomo, after contentious contract negotiations during his first term in office, and changes to the pension system for future state employees with lowered benefits. The New York State United Teachers declined to endorse a candidate in this year's governor's race.

State Supreme Court Justice Edgar Walker ruled on Monday that Democrat Zephyr Teachout has enough proof that she has been a continuous resident of New York for 5 years and is eligible to be on the ballot in the September 9th primary election.   Teachout currently teaches at Fordham University in the Bronx and has resided in Brooklyn since 2009.

Democratic prospective gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout was in court Thursday, as she tried to prove permanent residency in the state of New York.  Teachout testified that she has been a law Professor at Fordham University in New York City since 2009 & resides in Brooklyn.  Governor Cuomo’s supporters maintain that Teachout has not lived in New York state for the required 5 years in order to run for Governor, still has a recent Vermont driver’s license & a Vermont address listed on tax documents.  Teachout is looking to force a Democratic Party primary against Cuomo prior to the November elections.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino challenged Governor Cuomo to 8 debates between now and Election Day. Cuomo may first face a Democratic primary, as Democratic candidate Zephyr Teachout will submit 3 times the number of petition signatures necessary to force a primary.
