State Police arrested 23 Year old Garcia Pfister-Gumaer of Windsor felony weapon charges following a traffic stop. Troopers initiated a traffic stop on State Route 79 in the village of Windsor after observing vehicle and traffic violations, a Trooper observed signs of impairment. Pfister-Gumaer failed Field Sobriety Tests. Troopers located illegal drugs & numerous weapons with ammunition, he was charged with several counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Disguised Gun, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Ability Impaired (Drugs) and Resisting Arrest, Pfister-Gumaer was held at the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

Root said that they plan on having that event again next year, she also said that the Chenango Threat Advisory Committee will have next presentation on April 17th.

Commerce Chenango's 2nd annual Women's Leadership Conference will be held today at the Canasawacta County Club in Norwich, about 225 are expected to attend, the keynote speaker will be Barbara Schindler of Golden Artists Colors.

The State Legislature has between 5 to 7 more sessions before the official end of the 2017 session, local assemblyman Cliff Crouch would like to see Ethics Reforms get passed this year:

Crouch said that entrenched Assembly & Senate leadership since he starting serving in Albany in 1995, have wound up facing various corruption charges, rather than simply returning to the private sector. Former State Senate leaders Joe Bruno, Dean Skelos, Pedro Espada & Hiram Monseratte & Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver have all faces charges & court dates after their runs at the top in Albany.

The Assembly Minority Conference Legislation sets up an independent advisory committee, streamlines economic development tax credits and other programs to make it fairer for all businesses to compete for state contracts and prohibit campaign contributions from appointees to their appointing authority.

Fox Hospital’s executive leadership team and the board of directors announced that Dr. Reginald Knight has been selected as the new Vice President of Medical Affairs. Dr. Knight will begin his appointment at Fox on July 5th; He will be based at Fox three days of the week, splitting time between Bassett Medical Center and Fox. For the last 7 years, Dr. Knight has been an attending orthopedic surgeon for Bassett Medical Center. He also serves as director of Bassett’s spine care institute as well as president of the medical staff.

Governor Cuomo today announced the members of the search committee for the next Superintendent of the New York State Police. The committee will be reviewing and recommending candidates to the Governor in the coming days. Current Superintendent Joseph D’Amico recently announced his plans to retire after 6 years of leadership with the State Police, and 35 years in law enforcement overall. Superintendent D’Amico will be in place through the transition.

The Tri-County Chapter of New York State Women Incorporated is sponsoring an AMBA scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, at the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford located at 16 Fort Hill. The AMBA Wellness Clinic offers doctor-ordered blood tests for a reasonable price. Scholarship awards are given annually to students in the Sidney Central School District, Unatego Central School District, Bainbridge-Guilford Central School and Norwich High School. Lawmakers will be looking to restore cuts to the state budget by the Governor for Agricultural programs, Local Assemblyman & Assembly Agriculture Committee Chairman Bill Magee comments:

Magee said that both houses will send their proposed budgets out fro printing on Friday, conference committees should get started negotiating next week & the budget should be completed by the April 1st deadline again this year.

The Otsego county Chamber of Commerce will offer the Leadership Otsego program, which is accepting applications for the class of 2016. Leadership Otsego is a program that kicks off in April and engages emerging and existing leaders in a 6-month program that sharpens leadership skills. Governor Cuomo has tied ethics reforms for lawmakers to the budget this year, the assembly leadership is going along with the Governors reforms, the State Senate leadership might also agree in the coming days. The governor made the reforms his top priority following the arrest in February of then-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges.
