State Police responded to the report of a pedestrian struck
by a car on County Route 11 in the town of Unadilla Saturday.  69 year old Susan Haney of Unadilla was
struck by a vehicle driven by 34 year old Nicole Wilber of Unadilla, who
stopped & called police.  Haney was
airlifted to Upstate medical center in Syracuse with Head & leg injuries
& internal bleeding.  The
investigation is continuing.
The Oneonta Common Council will hold their next regular
meeting this evening at City Hall; the meeting is open to the public & will
begin at 7:00 PM.

The City of Oneonta announced that there will be a Special Common Council meeting on Monday July 30th at 6:00 PM at City Hall. The pupose of the meeting is to establish budget guidelines for 2019.

The Oneonta Police Department is asking the local public for assistance, following possible acts of vandalism. The Police Department announced that the bathrooms at Neahwa and Wilber Parks sustained damage within the last few days. State Senator Fred Akshar, & Assembly Members Donna Lupardo and Cliff Crouch will hold a public Town Hall Meeting today, to discuss the ongoing repurposing of the Broome Developmental Center to provide substance abuse treatment to individuals struggling with addiction. Officials from the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, Syracuse Behavioral Health, Broome County Department of Social Services and the Broome County Health Department will answer questions and address concerns related to the repurposing project. The event will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Chenango Valley High School.
Delaware County Public Health will be sponsoring a free EPA Certified Lead Renovator 8-Hr. Training Course today at the Walton Town Hall. ConTrax, LLC is conducting the class. The class is sponsored by Delaware County Public Health; it will include all course materials, manual, refreshments, lunch and certificate of completion. Free tuition offered on a first come basis, with preference given to Delaware County residents, businesses, rental property owners, home improvement contractors and their employees.

Upgrades have been completed at SUNY Oneonta, according to the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.  $2.2 million in improvements included replacing the roof at Huntington Hall, converting two bathrooms in Hulbert Hall into laundry rooms, giving a WiFi coverage boost to Wilber Hall, upgrading fire systems in Wilber, Little and Sherman Halls, and applying a new interior wall finish in Hayes Hall. The upgrades were part of $30 million in upgrades that were completed at SUNY campuses throughout the state within a 90-day period, so that they would be completed by the time students returned to school.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department Investigators arrested 35 year old Wilber Tyrrell of Hancock Tuesday as a Fugitive From Justice from the State of Pennsylvania. Tyrrell was incarcerated at the Delaware County Correctional Facility on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest, Tyrrell will be arraigned as a Fugitive From Justice in the Town of Delhi Court at a later time.

A proposal to build a taxiway at the Oneonta municipal airport will be addressed by the Oneonta Common Council during a meeting tonight. Federal and state grants have been approved for construction of a partial parallel taxiway. The council also will consider a lease agreement with the Oneonta Little League for use of the Swart Wilcox “Richard Murphy” Field; funding steps for the Wilber Park bridge replacement project; business contracts and adopting a local law setting certain tax abatements for local housing. The meeting will be in Common Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 7:00 PM.
