Sidney Village Officials announced that a water main break occurred on Circle Drive. The water will be shut off to all the apartments on Circle drive until the repairs are completed, which is estimated to be at about 8:00 PM this evening.
Another Sidney Community Clean-Up will be held at Keith Clark Park on Saturday, June 13. Starting time is set for 9:00 at the park pavilion. Volunteers will help variety of jobs throughout the walking trail areas. Some tools will be available, or volunteers may bring their favorite shovels, pruners or other gardening gear. Work gloves should be worn.

The investigation determined that over the last two years Magro engaged in a pattern of inappropriate sexual contact toward multiple teenage victims, while the victims were employed at Joe and Vinny’s Pizzeria on North Main Street in the village of Sherburne. Magro was taken into custody & was charged with Three counts of Forcible Touching, Four counts of Sexual Misconduct & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Magro was transported to the Chenango County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. The victims were issued Orders of Protection, Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward, they can call State Police at (607)561-7400.

Village crews will pick up Brush Piled neatly at curb, plus leaves, grass clippings, weed-stalks & hedge trimmings placed in open containers or clear bags. The Deposit Village Board has decided to discontinue their contract with the Broome County Sheriff's Office to have a dedicate law enforcement presence in Deposit. The move comes about 6 years after the dissolution of the Deposit Police Department. Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar released a statement saying the\at the decision will make emergency response times in the Village unpredictable, they will respond to emergencies along with the New York State Police going forward.
During Earth Week, The State DEC announced a total of 23 municipalities certified under New York State’s Climate Smart Communities Certification program. The certifications recognize that these communities have taken actions to reduce flood risk, address extreme heat, invest in clean energy, improve infrastructure, reduce air pollution, and increase resilience across the state. Delaware County Deputies arrested a Bainbtridge resident Thursday in the Village of Delhi, Deputies observed a vehicle being operated by a male passenger, from the passenger seat, without a driver in the driver seat. 35-year-old William Weil of Bainbridge, appeared to be intoxicated & had a child in the vehicle, he was charged with the Aggravated DWI- child in vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree, Driving with a BAC of .08 of 1%, Reckless Driving, Felony DWI & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Weil was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 25 year old Alora Stott of Oneonta, she is wanted on active warrants for failing to appear for scheduled court dates at Sidney Village Court & Chenango County Court. Stott failed to appear in Sidney on charges of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, from a January 2025 arrest where Stott was in possession of a stolen checkbook and multiple forged and stolen checks. Stott is also wanted by Chenango County Court for failing to appear on charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, where she & 3 others were found in possession of a stolen Pickup Truck, Anyone with information regarding Stott’s whereabouts is asked to contact State Police at (607) 561-7400.

Delhi Police Department arrested 21 year old Logan Hitchcock of Delhi on charges of 3rd degree Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child following a domestic incident in the Village of Delhi. Officers were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute on Meredith Street, they determined that a verbal altercation had escalated into a physical incident, during which a female victim sustained injuries while holding an infant, she was taken to O’Connor Hospital, Hitchcock was located and taken into custody, He was processed and was arraigned, a Temporary Order of Protection was requested on behalf of the victim and child.

This week, the Susquehanna SPCA was able to take possession of a small farm to assist when they have to rescue a number of larger farm animals, Director Stacie Haynes told WCDO news about the need for this space for their operation:

40 year old Mark Archer of Sidney pleaded guilty to 3 counts of Sexual Abuse in Delaware County Court Thursday. Archer was indicted by a Grand Jury on 12 counts related to sexual abuse against 3 victims were less than 13 years old between 2013 and 2019 in the Village of Sidney, Archer will be sentenced to 13.5 years in state prison and 30 years of post-release supervision, he will be required to register as a sex offender after prison & he is prohibited from contacting his victims.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded last May to a motor vehicle roll over accident in Harpersfield. 25-year-old Isaiah Caballero of Oneonta, lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and struck a tree, 25 year old Nyheim Golden-Williams was killed in the crash. Deputies located cocaine & a loaded pistol that did not have a serial number. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded last May to a motor vehicle roll over accident in Harpersfield. 25-year-old Isaiah Caballero of Oneonta, lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and struck a tree, 25 year old Nyheim Golden-Williams was killed in the crash. Deputies located cocaine & a loaded pistol that did not have a serial number. 29 year old Grace Archer of Afton pleaded guilty to Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Delaware County Court. Archer admitted to possessing methamphetamine and driving while impaired in the village of Sidney on December 31st. Sentencing is set for July 11th, Archer is expected to be sentenced to 3 years in prison to be followed by 2 years of post-release supervision on the drug charge, and 1 year of incarceration for her DWAI conviction.

Agri-Mark Incorporated of Vermont has recalled 189 cases of Cabot Creamery 8-ounce premium butter, Consumers should not eat or use the recalled butter, which has an expiration date of September 9th. Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 33 year old Nicole Conklin of Otego for 3rd degree Assault following an investigation into a reported physical domestic dispute in the Village of Schenevus. Conklin caused physical injury to another party, she was later located and taken into custody and was then turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment, an order of protection was issued to protect the victim.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Kayla Van Pelt of Otsego County, for Grand Larceny and Conspiracy. A larceny complaint was filed by a business in the Village of Sherburne, where Van Pelt and two other suspects acted together and stole over one thousand dollars in merchandise. Van Pelt was taken into custody at a residence in Otsego County, transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office to be processed, she was released on an appearance ticket for Village of Sherburne Court at a later date. More arrests are expected to be made.

Audette is expected to be sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision, and his license will be revoked, he will also be required to pay any fines and surcharges imposed by the Court.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 people after a 3-month investigation into fraud, forgery and identity theft. In August, Deputies received a complaint in regard to stolen funds from multiple accounts, multiple unknown charges and new accounts being opened without consent. Deputies, Sidney Police & State Police and the Delaware County District Attorney's Office arrested 44 year old Lori Brooks of Sidney, 27 year old Joshua Hunt of Unadilla & 37 year old Matthew Walsh of Sidney on a variety of charges including Grand Larceny, Conspiracy, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument & criminal possession of stolen property, Brooks was issued an appearance ticket and turned over to State Police for an outstanding warrant & was then turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for arraignment. Hunt was being held at the Otsego County Jail on an unrelated charge, he was processed & was brought back to the Otsego County Jail, Walsh was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Arraignment, he will appear at the Village of Sidney Court at a later date, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.

Broome County Sheriff’s 4th Most Wanted fugitive, 29 year old Joseph Chinchilla, was found in Chenango Forks and was arrested for Reckless Endangerment & Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle after fleeing police in January.
