Delaware County Public Health announced that a 53rd death from COVID 19 complications, they have had 100 new positive cases in the last week, there are 118 active cases, 4 hospitalized and 170 are quarantined. The CDC & Delaware County Public Health recommends everyone should wear a mask indoors in public places. Vaccine clinic sites at can be found at covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov. Currently, 49.4% of the Delaware County population is vaccinated, 77% of the positive cases are unvaccinated, 23% of the positive cases are vaccinated & 2.5% of positive cases are college students/employees.

The Unadilla Valley Central School District will host a 5K run/walk at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, for 14 year old Cooper Hine, who is a Unadilla Valley 8th Grader, who was seriously injured in an ATV crash in New Berlin recently. Another fundraising chicken barbecue and Chinese auction will follow at the South New Berlin Fire Department on July 17th. Hine is hospitalized at the Upstate Medical center in Syracuse.

Robert Horan of Unadilla for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Forcible
Touching, after an investigation of an incident in Unadilla in January. Horan is a case worker with Otsego County,
the incident did not occur as a part of Horan’s official work duties; he was arraigned & was released on his
own recognizance and is due back in court on April 13th.

State Police responded to Betty Beavers Gas Mart on County
Road 48 in the town of Otego early this morning for a report of a vehicle that
crashed into a concrete wall. Troopers
reported that an unidentified 27-year-old woman from Unadilla was operating a
2015 Kia at a high rate of speed on State Highway 991J, she traveled through
the intersection of County Road 48, through the parking lot of Betty Beavers
Gas Mart and into the wall. Troopers
pulled the woman out of the vehicle and life saving measures were performed by
Otego EMS personnel but were unsuccessful.
The body was transported to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy & the
investigation is continuing.

accused of entering the Bank at 10:25 AM and gave a bank teller a note that
demanded cash, he ran before taking any money.
Stein was apprehended near the bank in the area of Glenwood Avenue, he
was also charged with violation of parole.

State police are asking for the public's help in locating 39 year old James Sitts of Oneonta, who is wanted in connection with a grand larceny investigation. Sitts is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and a beard, he has several distinctive tattoos on his neck and right arm, his last known address was in the Lantern Hill Trailer Park in Oneonta. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (607) 561-7400.
Federal law Enforcement officials arrested 41 year old Justin Hobbie of Springfield, on child pornography charges. Hobbie was working as a physical education teacher & was formerly a girls’ soccer coach in the Cooperstown School District. District officials alerted parents of the arrest this morning, they did not believe that any incident involving a Cooperstown Student occurred, the investigation is continuing.
60 year old Lynn Beilby of South New Berlin has been charged with animal abuse, for allegedly torturing an animal and failing to provide sustenance to an animal. Beilby is scheduled to appear in the Town of Morris Court on January 14th to answer to the charges.

State Police arrested 37 year old Michael Collins of Butternuts, for Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Criminal Mischief, after Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Wilbur Hill Road in the town of Butternuts for a domestic dispute. After an investigation, troopers determined that Collins and a victim were involved in an argument that turned physical, where Collins is accused of choking, taking a phone away when the victim attempted to call for help and not allowing the victim to leave. Collins was arraigned in the town of Butternuts Court where he was released on his own recognizance. The judge issued an order of protection to the victim.
The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage and they are hosting 3 blood drives today. In Oneonta, a blood drive is being held at SUNY Oneonta from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM, one is being held in Cooperstown from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Clark's Sports Center, & another is being held in Morris from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Zion Episcopal Church on Main Street. State Police arrested 37 year old Michael Collins of Butternuts, for Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Criminal Mischief, after Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Wilbur Hill Road in the town of Butternuts for a domestic dispute. After an investigation, troopers determined that Collins and a victim were involved in an argument that turned physical, where Collins is accused of choking, taking a phone away when the victim attempted to call for help and not allowing the victim to leave. Collins was arraigned in the town of Butternuts Court where he was released on his own recognizance. The judge issued an order of protection to the victim.

Otsego County held its 20th annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day this past weekend. The satellite event in Unadilla served about 120 cars, the Meadows Office Complex collection served 522 cars dropping off hazardous materials. Pharmaceuticals and medications were collected free of charge again this year, with about 160 pounds collected for incineration.

State Police arrested 30 year old Jonathan Wilcox of Unadilla for 3rd degree Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, and Harassment, after troopers were advised of a physical dispute on July 12th in the town of Unadilla. Troopers accuse Wilcox of throwing his girlfriend to the ground and choking her. Wilcox was arraigned in the town of Unadilla court and was released without bail, he faces court action on August 14th.

State Senator Jim Seward announced that community libraries throughout the 51st senatorial district have been awarded a total of $235,613 in public library construction grant funds. Locally, the Kinney Memorial Library in Hartwick will receive $25,035 to Replace old windows and add insulation, the Unadilla Public Library will receive $35,475 to Replace inefficient windows and light fixtures and interior renovations, the Village Library of Cooperstown will receive $23,327 for Interior renovations & the Worcester Free Library will get $23,606 for insulation.
State Police arrested 32-year-old Joseph Little of Sidney Aggravated DWI with a BAC result of .20%, and other traffic violations. Little was observed failing to use a designated lane on State Route 7 in the Town of Unadilla, he was arraigned in the Town of Unadilla court and was remanded to the Otsego County jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 property bond pending future court action.
