Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney announced his bid for the state attorney general's position. Maloney is the 4th Democrat to enter the race, after Letitia James, Leecia Eve; & Zephyr Teachout, the nominee will be determined in the September primary. The only Republican candidate for state attorney general is Keith Wofford of New York City.

2 area colleges will have their Commencement Exercises Saturday. Hartwick College will graduate the class of 2018 on Elmore Field Saturday at 11:30 AM; SUNY Delhi's commencement will take place on the college track Saturday morning at 10:00 AM or at Clark Field House in the case of inclement weather.
The Unadilla Town Board will be holding a Special Board Meeting today at 6:30 PM. The board will be making an appointment for the position of Special Police Officer for the Town of Unadilla, the meeting will be held at the Unadilla Town Hall on State Route 7.
The 28th Annual Edward Wessels Canoe Regatta will be held tomorrow; it is sponsored by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce. The race will be starting at the Otego boat launch & will conclude in Keith Clark Park in Sidney. Awards and a dinner will be held after the race at the Sidney Elks Club, River Street. The race is considered a warm up for the upcoming General Clinton Canoe Regatta on the Memorial Day Weekend.

Work is beginning on restoring miles of track bed for the Utica Mainline railroad in Chenango County, which was heavily damaged in the 2006 floods. Steve Craig of Commerce Chenango & The Chenango IDA told WCDO News where the money is coming from to pay for the project:

Christopher Winkler of Unadilla has conceded the tied race for the Unadilla Village Board seat, to Jeff Jones. Both Jones & Winkler received the same number of votes for the seat in the March village election, leaving local officials looking for answers from county or state election law on how to handle the tie. The race could have been decided with another election, a drawing, or the concession of one of the candidates to the other.

Chenango county Sheriff’s Deputies and New Berlin Police arrested Michael Gincerowski of Binghamton for Felony DWI, Refusal to submit to a breath test, Open container in a motor vehicle and leaving the scene for a property damage accident following an investigation where Gincerowski allegedly struck a vehicle at the Unadilla Race Track in the Town of Columbus and left the scene. New Berlin Police located the vehicle on State Hwy 8 in the Town of New Berlin and determined Gincerowski was operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition, he was arraigned in the Town of New Berlin court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail pending future court action.
