Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the successful use of Thermal Imaging Drone Aids in Locating Missing Person Sunday night. Deputies responded to a call of a missing vulnerable adult in the Town of Edmeston, Deputies quickly initiated a coordinated search & they deployed a Sheriff’s Office Unmanned Aerial System equipped with thermal imaging technology, Using the drone’s advanced capabilities, deputies successfully located the individual in a field. The K-9 team and responding deputies found the missing person, who was suffering from hypothermia and complaining of hip pain. The victim was taken to Bassett Medical Center for further evaluation.

State Police and local law enforcement will be out in force through Labor Day weekend as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to prevent impaired driving. The enforcement period runs through Labor Day, September 1st, last year, State police issued 47,173 total tickets and arrested 632 individuals for DWI.

Fundraisers are underway with more to come, to help the family of Anielle "AK" McEwan Lomnicki with Medical Expenses associated with AK getting hit by a car while walking home from school last week. AK's father, Rich Lomnicki told WCDO news this morning how she was doing:

Kim Ayres of the Trinity O'Connor Foundation is helping to coordinate the fundraising efforts for AK's Family, she said that the Polar Bear Club donated a sizable amount at Saturday Night's Vigil at Keith Clark Park, which drew over 400 people, She told WCDO News about other efforts getting underway:

Ayres said that JM Trophies & Specialty Gifts will be making up T-Shirts & donating proceeds, plus Shupperd's Tack Shop is printing up signs "AK Strong", all proceeds from that will go to the family, information is available at Shupperd's Facebook page, also Gavin's Pizza is collaborating with local restaurants, On Friday, The Beez Kneez will be donating 10% of all sales & on Saturday, Gavin’s, Machos Tacos, Tina’s Old Fashioned Donuts, Sidney Joe’s Pizzeria, Trackside Dining, Club 55 Restaurant will be donating 10% of all sales to AK and her family.

The Board of Directors of the State Environmental Facilities Corporation has approved $497.5 million in grants and interest-free and low-cost loans to support wastewater and drinking water infrastructure projects. Locally, The Town of Oneonta will receive $5.1 million to finance the creation of the Town of Oneonta Southside Water District Number 5, to serve residences currently on private wells and consolidate several existing small, privately owned water systems. The Town of Oneonta will also get a $2.8 million interest-free loan to finance the costs associated with the creation the Town of Oneonta Southside Water District Number6, to consolidate and serve several small, privately-owned public water systems, 23 that are currently on insufficient private wells.

On Saturday, at 7:30 PM, Former World Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes is coming to the Oneonta Theatre, to celebrate the release of the audio book version of his former rival's biography, Meet Marvis Frazier: The Story of the Son of Smokin' Joe, which was co-authored by Jamie Potter of Otego.
