The UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will host its annual Trivia Night fundraiser on Saturday, March 14 at Canasawacta Country Club, 261 County Rd 44 in Norwich. Registration opens at 5 pm. and trivia begins at 6 pm. All proceeds benefit the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Registration deadline is this Wednesday, March 11. Commerce Chenango and the Chenango Foundation announced that registration is open for the 3rd annual Chenango Women’s Leadership Conference at DCMO BOCES Campus in Norwich on March 16th. Registration is available at the commercechenango.com.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division arrested 2 Norwich Juveniles last week for 3rd degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Grand Larceny & Conspiracy in the 6th degree. On the morning of August 17, a business in the Town of Norwich was burglarized by the juveniles, property was damaged and merchandise was stolen. The Juvenile’s were brought to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing, they were arraigned in Chenango County Youth Court, the case was turned over to Chenango County Family Court, where the Juveniles were released into the custody of their parents/guardians.

The Chenango County Historical Society will participate in Giving Tuesday, today, Giving Tuesday asks people to donating to local charities, Giving Tuesday is held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold their “Be the Light,” Holiday celebration tonight, Contributors and community leaders are invited to attend the lighting ceremony and reception at 5:30pm at Newton House, 179 North Broad Street, Norwich. For more information, call 607-337-4151.

The NBT Holiday Spectacular will be held today in conjunction with the Commerce Chenango Business After Hours event, it will be held at the NBT at 52 South Broad street, participants are asked to bring non perishable food items for Roots & Wings and a Toy for Toys For Tots.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Michael VanDerWeert of Guilford & 47 year old Dawn Cavanaugh of North Carolina, for Burglary, Petty Larceny, Criminal Mischief and Conspiracy. Deputies responded to a burglary complaint at a business in the Town of Norwich, where someone broke into the building and stole multiple items. The vehicle used in the burglary was spotted at a business in the Village of Oxford, VanDerWeert and Cavanaugh were arrested and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where they were released on appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Saturday to an ATV crash near Fuller Hollow Road in the Town of Hamden. Prior to Deputies’ arrival, Delaware County 911 reported that a victim had been privately transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in the Village of Walton with a second victim still on scene. Deputies located the 2nd victim, an 11-year-old male, at a residence, who was transported to Albany Medical Center by Life Net for non-life-threatening injuries. The 1st Victim was a 13-year-old female who was pronounced deceased at the Delaware Valley Hospital, due to injuries sustained from the crash.

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will launch “Be the Light,” to illuminate Newton House on Broad Street in Norwich. With a suggested donation of $20, community members can purchase a light that celebrates or memorializes a loved one. Names of honorees will be displayed at CMH throughout December. Proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary’s efforts to support patient services at CMH, the lighting ceremony and reception on Tuesday, December 3rd at 5:30pm at Newton House. The Sidney Veteran's Memorial Park fundraiser at East Main Lanes in Sidney the last 2 weekends was a big success, Park President Doug Barnard told WCDO how much they raised:

Barnard said that the money raised will go for routine maintenance, upgrades and added security cameras at the park, the annual fundraising Golf Tournament will be held next June, more details will be released about that in 2024. More information about the park is available at svmpa.org.

The Festival of Trees Gala, sponsored by the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be held this Saturday, from 5 PM - 10 PM at The Canasawacta Country in Norwich. UHS Chenango Memorial will receive a $100,000 campaign gift
from the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
The commitment of $100,000 will be paid over 5 years; the capital
campaign will support construction of a new Emergency Room and Walk-In Center,
as well as strategic investments in Diagnostic Imaging and infrastructure to
support the growth of future services.

The Chenango Arts Council presents " Cocktail Hour: The Show" at the Martin W. Kappel Theater at 27 West Main Street, Norwich Saturday night. Chenango Arts Council Executive Director Diane Batson Smith comments:

Chenango Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary will again host Breakfast with Santa tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the hospital's cafeteria. The morning includes a full breakfast buffet and free photo with Santa, courtesy of NBT bank. Proceeds from Breakfast with Santa go to the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary to help support hospital services, facilities and programs.

O'Connor Hospital will host its 17th Annual Holiday Parade and Open House on Saturday at 11:00 AM, it will begin at SUNY Delhi at 2 Main Street finish behind the Senator Charles D. Cook county office building at 111 Main Street. Following the parade the community is invited to O'Connor Hospital for free refreshments in the hospital café. The next free Chenango County rabies clinic will be held tomorrow at the city of Norwich Fire Station. The clinic will run from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
