The 55th General Clinton Canoe Regatta was held in Bainbridge this past weekend. The famous 70-mile races were held yesterday with numerous local paddlers finding success. Walton residents Bill & Brian Walley won the tough Aluminum class, and spoke with WCDO’s Craig Stevens after the race:

In the 4 people 70-miler, the local team of Jeff Shultis of Otego, Al Nichols of Laurens, & Larry Harrison & Bob Wisse of Oneonta took 2nd place, losing by just 24 seconds. Shultis told WCDO that he felt that they should have rested more:

The Team finished the 70-miler in just 7 hours, 51 minutes & 51 seconds.

77-year-old Don LaFever of Norwich & partner Rich Hall of Gilbertsville won the Men’s Recreation Class, LaFever spoke with Craig Stevens after the race:

Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will Celebrate Dairy Month at their next Breakfast this Friday, June 2, from 8:30 to 10:00 am in Franklin. The event will be held at The Tulip and Rose Cafe at 435 Main Street in Franklin, as part of the Chamber's First Friday Eat & Meet Breakfast. The 2nd annual canoe parade on the Saturday of this year’s general Clinton canoe regatta will be dedicated & named in honor of Pam LaFever this year, LaFever chaired the Clinton canoe regatta for 6 years.  Todd & Trevor Lafever commented about the honor for their mother:

The Lafever brothers will participate in the Pam Lafever Memorial canoe parade, their mother died in December of last year after a lengthy illness.
