An Otsego County Grand Jury indicted Sergeant Kristopher Solovitch on Tuesday, he is charged with 1 count of 2nd degree Forgery, and 4 counts of Falsifying Business Records, Solovitch’s arrest stems from the arrest of Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Fellrath in Herkimer County on May 29, for possessing Cocaine while on duty in a county vehicle outside of the County, Fellrath was being investigated for a complaint into fraudulent overtime, which led to Solovitch’s indictment, State Police arrested Solovitch, he was arraigned & released in his own recognizance.
State Police Troop C Traffic Incident Management Unit conducted an Operation Hard Hat enforcement detail on I-81 in near Homer Monday, where highway crews were making pavement and pothole repairs. During the enforcement, Troopers issued a total of 60 citations and made one arrest, 49 year old Rashi Brown of Illinois for Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and 10 traffic violations. Police issued 25 speeding tickets, 10 for failing to use seat belts, 10 for using an electronic device while driving & 1 for failing to move over.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37 year old Thomas Brown of Norwich after Deputies responded to a business in the Town of Norwich for a larceny complaint. Brown allegedly stole items from the business and he had previously been trespassed from the business in the past, he also was found to be in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest. Brown was charged with Burglary & Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance & was arraigned & he was released on his own recognizance.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced that a Oneonta man was arrested on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Town of Delhi Court. On June 29th, 2023, Sheriff Deputies responded to a reported Domestic Dispute in Delhi, Deputies had applied for & received an Arrest Warrant for Daquan Brown for Aggravated Harassment and Criminal Mischief, Monday evening, Town of Colchester Police responded to a report of a car in a snow bank, the operator was Daquan Brown who was taken in to custody by deputies on the warrant. he was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional facility for Arrangement.
New York State is waiving registration fees for out-of-state snowmobilers on 2 weekends this winter - February 28th through March 2 and again March 7th through the 9th, so that snowmobilers can ride on over 10,000 miles of snowmobile trails in New York State. Calling hours & Funeral arrangements have been announced for Binghamton Firefighter John Gaudet, who died fighting a fire at 1 Main Street last Wednesday evening. The Gaudet family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, located in Binghamton, today from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, the funeral mass will be held Wednesday Morning at 11:30 AM at the same location. The official cause of death for Gaudet has not yet been announced, he served for 11 years with the Binghamton Fire Department.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 43 year old Thomas Toomer of Oxford for multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 1 count of Aggravated Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 1 count of Criminal Contempt. Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to Toomer’s residence to serve an eviction notice, Toomer and an additional occupant of the residence were removed, the other occupant had an order of protection against Toomer. Toomer was then taken into custody without incident. Several firearms, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines were located in the residence. Toomer had 3 previous Felony convictions & was not allowed to have firearms, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail pending additional court action in Chenango County Court.

State Police announced that 41 year old David Maycumber of Newfield, was indicted by the Tioga County Grand Jury and was arraigned before the Tioga County Court for 1st & 2nd Degree murder, Kidnapping and Intimidating a witness, in connection with the kidnapping & murder of Thomas Rath in Tioga County earlier this year. To date, 13 subjects have been arrested for various felonies regarding the murder investigation of Thomas Rath.

U.S. Marshalls arrested a Brooklyn man this morning in the City of Binghamton after attempting to escape authorities in New York City. 26-year-old Thomas Nimmons was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Binghamton Division, he was wanted on a parole warrant as well as a federal arrest warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. He is currently a suspect in an ongoing homicide investigation by the New York Police Department. Nimmons was taken into custody by the Binghamton Metro SWAT team after a search warrant was executed at 77 Mary Street. He was transported to the Binghamton Police Department and turned over to members of the NYPD shortly after.

State Police and other emergency responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at about 4:45 Wednesday afternoon, with a rollover on State Highway 23 near Interskate 88 in the town of Oneonta. A preliminary investigation indicates that the operator of a Chevrolet Silverado rear-ended a Dodge Durango. The Silverado rolled after impact with the Durango. The operator of the Silverado, was a 42-year-old male of Grand Gorge, A 7-year-old passenger was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center for a head injury. The operator of the Durango, a 38-year-old female of Bloomville was transported to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. The crash remains under investigation.

State Police responded Friday to a 3-car crash on State Highway 23 near the intersection of Regan Way in the town of Davenport.  An investigation revealed that a Pontiac driven by 56 year old Kevin Johnson of Windham was stopped waiting to turn left into the Mirabito when he was rear ended by a Hyundai driven by 20 year old Shaun Jones of Davenport, which caused the Hyundai to then enter the westbound lane of traffic and into the path of an ambulance traveling west on State Highway 23.  The ambulance then struck a guiderail.   Jones was transported to Albany Med and was treated & released, Jones's passenger, a 19-year-old female of Otego was transported to Bassett Medical Center.  The driver of the ambulance, 41 year old Gerald Brown of Milford was transported to Fox Hospital, his passenger; a 21-year-old male of Sherburne was also transported to Fox Hospital.  The crash remains under investigation.
A "Meet the Candidate" event will be held in Afton today, featuring Libertarian Candidate Thomas Daniel Quiter for the State Senate's 52nd District, as well as Larry Sharpe, who was the 2018 Libertarian candidate for New York Governor.  The event will be held in front of 175 Main Street, Afton (The Afton Inn) from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM today.

State Police at Sidney arrested 57 year old Thomas Brainerd of Unadilla forAggravated DWI with a reportable B.A.C of .26%.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a two-car crash on State Highway 7 in the town of Unadilla.  An investigation revealed that Brainerd failed to yield to another vehicle while leaving a driveway, while intoxicated.  A passenger of the other vehicle was taken to AO Fox Hospital Tri-Town Campus,  Brainerd was processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Unadilla court on December 16th.

34 year old Thomas Jadlowski of Sherman New York was
sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison, for the accidental shooting of his
neighbor Rosemary Billquist, who was out walking her dogs on Thanksgiving
Morning 2017.  Jadlowski mistook his
neighbor for a deer & shot her, he Testified that he heard Billquist cry
out and ran to assist her & called 911 for help.  Billquist was taken to an area hospital where
she was pronounced dead, Jadlowski pleaded guilty to criminally negligent
homicide in Chautauqua County Court; he was sentenced there this morning.

York are trying to locate a York County Pennsylvania Teenager, who ran away
from home earlier today.  17-year-old
Stephen Fiorenza is 5'7" and 240 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, he
left behind a note telling his family he was heading to the Adirondack
Mountains in New York State to go camping, he has no camping experience.  Fiorenza is believed to be driving a silver 2004

Governor Cuomo announced a proposal to raise the minimum
sales age for tobacco and electronic cigarette products from 18 to 21 will be
included in the 2019 executive budget tomorrow.   The proposal calls for an end to the sale of
tobacco and e-cigarette products in pharmacies and clarifies the State Health
Department's authority to ban the sale of certain flavored e-cigarette liquids,
among other measures.

State Police are requesting the public’s help finding 36-year-old JESSICA MARBLE of Altamont. Marble left her residence Sunday evening without medication that she needs for a serious medical condition, she left her cell phone and her dog behind & she missed a meeting with friends in Amsterdam on Sunday evening. Marble’s car is a black 2015 Honda CRV, it entered the State Thruway at Exit 25A, Interstate 88, and left at Exit 25, she may have re-entered the Thruway at Exit 27 & and left at Exit 34, Canastota, at about 4:00 AM Monday. 33-Year-Old Tory Brown of Columbus was arrested by Chenango County sheriff’s Deputies for unlawful possession of marihuana, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated unlicensed operation. Brown was charged following a traffic stop in the Village of New Berlin for operating a motor vehicle while having his driving privileges suspended, marijuana and a weapon were located in the vehicle. 2 people have been arrested after State Police discovered a meth lab on State Route 206 in the Town of Triangle Tuesday. Police arrested 37 year old Thomas Parker of Berkshire and 35 year old Stephanie Keller of Whitney Point, Police seized methamphetamine oil, marijuana plants, 1 active & 2 spent one-pot methamphetamine labs, hazardous materials & $1,970 in cash, Both have been charged with criminal possession of controlled substance and unlawful manufacturing of meth, They were arraigned in the Town of Triangle Court and taken to the Broome County Jail without bail.
State Police responded Wednesday to a 2 vehicle fatal collision involving a tractor-trailer and a car, on I-81 in the Town of Virgil. 59-year-old Roger Brooks of Virginia was driving a tractor-trailer; he struck a Toyota Corolla that was stopped in the driving lane, with the lights off, the tractor-trailer overturned off the shoulder of the roadway. The Toyota was driven by 40-year-old Rashida Brown, of Freeport, Long Island; Police said that she ran out of gas. Brown was transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries, No tickets have been issued. The investigation is continuing.

19-year-old Thomas Schmiedel, of Prattsville has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and vehicular assault for allegedly driving drunk, and causing a head on collision that killed 71-year-old Elvira Vogt of Jefferson on Sunday in the town of Roxbury. Schmiedel was charged with DWI, on Monday, during the early part of the investigation into the crash on State Route 23. Vogt was pronounced dead at the scene, her passenger, 71-year-old Robert Vogt of Jefferson, suffered a broken arm and several other injuries; he was transported to Albany Medical Center. Schmiedel’s passenger, 18-year-old Tyler Hoyt of Maplecrest, was not injured. Schmiedel was arraigned at the Town of Roxbury Court and was released; he faces court action on July 1st.
The Chenango Arts Council, Norwich Business Improvement District, and the Norwich Rotary Club announced that the Chenango Public Arts Initiative, Summer 2015 has been created to bring the arts to the public in everyday life. The Public Arts Initiative will showcase local talent and give artists exposure, be placing their artwork on display in the Chenango Arts Council’s Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries from June 26 to August 28th. A bill that would create a statewide registry of violent felony offenders has passed the Senate. “Brittany’s Law” would require violent convicted felons to register with the state’s Department of Criminal Justice Service, after being released from prison, it would be set up similar to the current sex offender registry. The bill is named after 12-year-old Brittany Passalacqua who was killed in 2009 by John Brown, who was on parole at the time after serving 2½ years for assaulting his infant daughter. The bill was sent to the Assembly for consideration.
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announced the creation of an investigations division in his office. The announcement comes amid a number of investigations by several attorneys, following the expiration of Governor Cuomo’s Moreland Commission. Cuomo said that the Moreland Commission was formed after the legislature refused to act on ethics reforms last year, they agreed to a reform package in March, and the commission was deactivated. DiNapoli now has an agreement with State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman that allows the attorney general's office to conduct criminal investigations into alleged wrongdoing by state officials.

State Police arrested 47-year-old Thomas McAvoy of Endicott for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and Unlawfully Possession of Marihuana.  The arrest resulted from a police pursuit on State Route 17, where A Trooper observed a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling 81 miles an hour, during the pursuit; McAvoy is accused of traveling at 115 miles an hour.  McAvoy was stopped, and police confiscated marijuana, he was issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets for the Town of Union Court on August 20th. .
Binghamton City police are on the lookout for a 27-year-old Andrew Jaworski, who is wanted on a Binghamton City Court arrest warrant for a felony grand larceny charge.  Jaworski is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Binghamton Police Warrant Division at 772-7044.

A group of people have been walking since Friday along state route 7 from Albany to Binghamton, to deliver a petition to the federal court house to judge Thomas McEvoy in Binghamton on July 23rd. the 133 mile “Journey For Justice” is sponsored by Project Salam, in support of Yassin Aref of Albany, whose supporters claim that he was entrapped through the efforts of the FBI in 2006, & convicted as a terrorist, and are seeking his release from prison.    Recently, Aref’s attorneys filed for documents through a “Freedom of Information Law” request & learned about secret evidence used to misidentified Aref as an Al-Qaeda agent. New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has called for an overhaul of state programs for restoring contaminated industrial and commercial sites, after the state spent nearly $1 billion to clean up 408 brown fields.  The report states that the state may incur another $3.3 billion in costs from tax credits over the next few years on Brownfield properties, He called for limiting or ending tax incentives while extending liability protections and streamlining regulations for developers.

28-year-old Thomas Tukalo of Edmeston has been arrested on an additional charge of 3rd degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, by the Otsego County Sheriff’s department.   Tukalo has been held in the Otsego county jail since January 25th on a separate drug charge, he was arraigned and was sent back to the county jail on $25,000 bail.
