State Police arrested 29 year old Cory Meadows of Oneonta for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Less Than 16 as Passenger & 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Troopers were dispatched to a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver, they located vehicle on the shoulder of State Highway 28, when the Troopers came closer, the operator drove through the grass of a property. Meadows failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, She was arrested and the children were turned over to a sober third party. Meadows was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Milford Town Court on October 8th.

State Police arrested 21 year old Nathan Kurtz of Bainbridge for Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle that was disabled on County Road 48 and that it had left the scene of an accident. Troopers determined that Kurtz had driven the vehicle impaired and damaged a yard, he was transported to the Oneonta barracks where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Kurtz was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Otego Town Court on October 17th.

resolution also supports a bill co-sponsored by state Senator Jim Seward, to
allow the parole board to decide to hold hearings every 5 years, instead of

Truck Fire on Calder Hill Road in Otego Sunday.
Otego Firefighters put the fire out quickly, the unidentified driver
escaped without injury & no tickets will be issued.
SUNY Oneonta University Police believe that the reported
threat of violence on campus Wednesday afternoon was the result of a
cyber-crime and posed no actual danger.
A New York City crisis hotline contacted SUNY Oneonta to share a chat
message allegedly from a student of the college, that indicated that the caller
intended to shoot people on campus, officials deemed the threat to be credible
and issued a shelter-in-place directive at 5:30 PM, it was dropped at 6:15
after a student reported to Oneonta Police that her phone had been hacked &
she was working with the college’s IT staff to correct it. University Police are investigating the
incident along with Oneonta Police, Otsego County law enforcement officials,
State Police, New York City Police and the FBI.

The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service announced this year’s schedule for curbside residential brush and yard waste pick-up. Those living in wards 1-4 will be have their yard waste picked up on Monday April 16th, those in wards 5-8 will be picked up the following Monday, April 23rd. Residents should have brush and yard waste out no sooner than the weekend before the scheduled pick-up to prevent possible code violation. Brush pick up will continue through the end of November.
The Delaware County Historical Association will feature Kurt Reigel, who owns & is restoring the Andrew Mann Inn on State Route 7 Riverside Sidney. The presentation will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday regarding the building that was built in 1787; it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The 20th annual SADD “Strides for Safety” 5K will be held Sunday in Oneonta. Students will run, or walk from upper East Street to the Oneonta High School, money raised will go to facilitate activities that promote drug- and alcohol-free lifestyles, for teenagers.
The SUNY Oneonta Fights Cancer Club will hold the OH Fight Walk this evening from 6:00 pm until midnight at the Alumni Field House. Participants will walk around the Field House to raise awareness of and money for local families battling cancer. Registrations are available at suny.oneonta.edu.

A Sidney native has entered into the world of publishing, when he published his first science fiction novel earlier this month through Amazon.com. Scott Scavo told WCDO News is a 1995 Sidney High School Graduate who started his story as bedtime stories for his children, and wound up with so much material it became a book:

Delhi University police announced that they are searching for 21 year old Steven Sutliff, who told his roommates on Saturday afternoon that he was heading to Oneonta, and would return on Monday. Sutliff was reported missing on Tuesday evening. Sutliff is described as a 5'9" white male, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Sutliff's whereabouts are asked to contact SUNY Delhi University Police at 607-746-4700, or New York State Police at 607-561-7400.
