The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that the Baseball Writers of America have selected Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton and Joe Mauer for election into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. All 3 will be inducted, along with former manager Jim Leyland during Induction Weekend 2024 July 19-22 in Cooperstown, N.Y., at the grounds of the Clark Sports Center.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40 year old Joshua Whaley of Pitcher for Criminal possession of a Controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia & criminal possession of stolen property. Members of State Parole searched Whaley’s property and located a shotgun, and a case containing fifty wax envelopes of Fentanyl and packaging material, a pick up truck with an altered vehicle identification number, which was reported stolen out of New Hartford, Whaley was processed and was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on his Warrant. Whaley is to appear in the Town of Pitcher Court at a later date.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for Joseph Chinchilla on an outstanding warrant for Reckless Endangerment Chinchilla was last known to frequent the Cass Road area of the Town of Sanford. , he is described as a white male 6'2" 210 pounds with brown hair & hazel eyes, Anyone with information is asked to contact the Broome County Sheriff’s Office online at gobroomecounty.com/sheriff/warrants or by calling 778-1196.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced support for bipartisan legislation to help expand the mental health workforce in underserved communities. The Mental Health Professionals Workforce Shortage Loan Repayment Act would incentivize mental health professionals to practice in underserved areas by offering them student loan forgiveness up to $250,000. 55 Out Of New York’s 62 Counties, Don’t Have Enough Psychiatrists, Psychologists, or Social Workers to address the growing mental health crisis in New York State.

Former Teacher Benjamin Moyse of Delhi, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Official Misconduct by a Public Servant, in Delaware County Court. A Delaware County Grand Jury returned an 11 count indictment last year against Moyse, where he was accused of intentionally aided a person under 16 years of age, to possessing and disseminating child pornography, and that he failed to follow Delaware Academy’s policy and procedures when students and parents reported that students were being sexually abused. Moyse was sentenced to a conditional discharge of 1 year for each count. Separate proceedings by the State Department of Education, Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability are pending, his teaching license is being revoked in New York State.

Attorney General Letitia James announced today that a federal appeals court has upheld a court order that New York, the Federal Trade Commission and 6 other states won against convicted criminal Martin Shkreli for engaging in illegal and monopolistic behavior as the CEO of Vyera Pharmaceuticals. The Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed the January 2022 decision of the District Court for the Southern District of New York, which found that Shkreli violated both federal and state laws by engaging in an illegal scheme to maintain a monopoly over a lifesaving drug, Daraprim, after increasing its price by over 4,000%, Shkreli is banned for life from the pharmaceutical industry and ordered to pay $64.6 million.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 20-year-old Rebecca Stickle of Livingston Manor for an alleged Assault on January 3rd, in the Town of Walton. Stickle is accused of making threats to a female victim that she would hit her with her vehicle. Stickle then attempted to leave the scene, and subsequently struck the female victim, causing physical injury. On January 13th, Deputies, assisted by State Police located and arrested Stickle at her residence she was charged with 2nd degree Assault & was held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility to arraignment.

The Raymond Corporation will be holding an on-site job fair from 12 to 6 p.m. on January 24, at their headquarters located at 22 South Canal Street in Greene. Positions for hire include all shift openings for production and forklift operators, welders, assemblers, and general utilities.

A man arrested by Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators on September 29th on a heroin possession charge was arrested again on Tuesday & charged with 2 additional felony drug charges. 31 year old Sean Dingle of Binghamton and Queens was charged Tuesday with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, with intent to sell & Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing and selling heroin in the Town of Sidney in September. Dingle was arraigned in Town of Sidney Court on the new charges; his previous set $50,000 bail was subsequently raised by Judge Rose, who remanded Dingle to the Delaware County Jail on $250,000 cash bail.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 63-year-old Patricia Carlson of Delhi on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Delhi Justice Court for Failing to Appear at her scheduled court date October 9th. Carlson was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Justice Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. A felony hearing has been rescheduled for Friday in the Delhi Town Court.

Springbrook will host an "Informed Decision Making" workshop today in the Events Room at their Campus on State Route 7 in Oneonta. The main goal of the workshop is to provide training for direct support professionals in understanding how to properly guide the people they support through the decision making process. The workshop is a half-day event from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 1:30 to 4:30 PM.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced that his office has obtained an order dissolving Angel’s Gate animal hospice and rehabilitation charity & directing that the charity’s real property be sold with the proceeds to be paid to another charity whose mission is the protection and care of animals. Acting Supreme Court Justice John Lambert ordered the appointment of a receiver to sell the property held in the names of Angel’s Gate, Inc. and Susan Marino in the Town of Meredith. Schneiderman’s Office previously brought a proceeding against Angel’s Gate and Marino to dissolve the corporation because they had failed to file legally required financial reports related to the handling of their charitable funds.  Marino and Angel’s Gate had raised over $3.1 million from donations; Marino mismanaged the funds while continuing to live on the property as her primary residence, without any oversight by an inactive Board of Directors.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 25-year-old Britney Fraser of Oneonta for criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle & possessing a controlled substance in a non-original container. 21-year-old Ashley Harty of Sherburne was also charged with 3 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of marihuana. The arrests occurred after a vehicle stop when Fraser was observed failing to stop for approaching traffic as she drove onto State Route 7 in the Town of Oneonta. Troopers detected the odor of marihuana & a search was conducted, troopers accuse Fraser of possessing half of a narcotic and driving with a suspended license. Harty was found to unlawfully possess marijuana, heroin and cocaine. Fraser and Harty were arraigned at the Town of Oneonta court and both were remanded to the Otsego County jail on $400 cash bail or $800 property bond, pending Town of Oneonta court on November 12th.

State Police at Binghamton arrested 34-year-old Melissa Ipson of Liverpool for criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs and possessing a controlled substance in a non-original container. This arrest occurred after a trooper observed Ipson appearing disoriented as she sat in her vehicle at a gas pump and then drove to a parking space at the Mirabito on Castle Creek Road in the Town of Barker. An investigation determined that she was driving while impaired by drugs and unlawfully possessed over 2 grams of cathinone bath salts. Ipson was arraigned & was remanded to the Broome County jail without bail set at this time.

Delaware County Public Health Services announces that the next free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats, and ferrets today from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Delhi Fire Hall at 140 Delview Terrace. The Sidney Fire Department will host their annual Open House tonight at the River Street Fire Station, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The fire department will have a live burn demonstration, an auto extrication demonstration, aerial ladder rides, the Sidney Police Department will conduct their child-fingerprinting program, & refreshments will be available.

The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, the Oneonta Lion’s Club and Hannaford of Oneonta, will be holding a food drive at the 2015 Oneonta Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 31st at 7:00 PM. All food and monetary donations will be given directly to Opportunities for Otsego and the Salvation Army Food Pantry to help defray the loss that both agencies will incur this year by the Holiday Train not making its annual visit to Oneonta. Volunteers from United Way will be on hand at the Halloween Parade with shopping carts donated by Hannaford to collect non-perishable food items. More information is available at 434-2458. The Oneonta Department of Public Service announced that flushing of water mains would continue on the low service in the Town of Oneonta, west of West End Avenue, for the next 2 weeks. Former Vice President Al Gore joined Governor Cuomo last week to announce 4 actions to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across New York State. First, Governor Cuomo signed a Memorandum of Understanding between states, provinces and cities worldwide to affirm their commitment to help keep the earth's average temperature from increasing 2 degrees Celsius by 2100. Secondly New York and the other northeast regional greenhouse gas cap and trade states have demonstrated that carbon markets are a powerful tool for reducing the pollution contributing to climate change. 3rd, Cuomo announced a commitment to bring solar to 150,000 more homes and businesses by 2020. The Governor also announced that the SUNY system would install renewable energy, at each of its 64 campuses by 2020.

Governor Cuomo announced the launch of a new $1.4 million Climate Resilient Farming grant pilot program created to support projects that mitigate the environmental impact of agriculture-related activities and increase the resiliency of farms throughout New York State in the face of a changing climate. Initiatives include $175 million for 5 large-scale clean energy projects to increase electricity generation from renewable energy sources, and a $3 million clean energy competition for colleges and universities in New York State. Applicants for the Climate Resilient Farming grant program must submit their proposals through the Grants Gateway system at grantsgateway.ny.gov by December 14th.

Governor Cuomo has already assigned a group of people to a task force come up with changes to the state's Common Core program, a vital part of those changes will be the ways that Teachers are evaluated:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is reminding policyholders who filed Hurricane Sandy flood insurance claims that the last day to request a review of their claim is Thursday October 15th. If you feel your Hurricane Sandy flood insurance claim was underpaid, you can call FEMA before October15th at 866-337-4262.

Governor Cuomo today announced that 8,132 dangerous drivers have been kept off the road during the last three years as result of tough regulations implemented in 2012. Since the measures went into effect three years ago, the DMV has permanently denied licenses to: 1,792 people for accumulating 5 or more alcohol or drug-related driving convictions in their lifetime. 2,515 people for having three or four alcohol or drug-related driving convictions in the last 25 years, plus at least one other serious driving offense during that period. The DMV has denied licenses to 3,825 drivers for an additional five years after revocation due to three or four alcohol or drug-related convictions but no serious driving offense in the last 25 years.

State Police arrested 18 Year old Austin Clifford of Shrub Oak for criminal possession of a controlled substance, & unlawful possession of marihuana. The arrest occurred after a traffic stop after Clifford was observed driving at 81 miles an hour on State Route 17 in the Town of Deposit, the trooper could smell marihuana inside vehicle. A search of the vehicle found that Clifford unlawfully possessed marihuana wax and almost 20 grams of marihuana. Clifford was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Deposit Court on October 12th.

The Oneonta department of public service announced that they will be flushing water mains on the low service in the west end of the city. The affected areas will be along Chestnut streets and all other streets west of Clinton Street, included the city operated system into the Town of Oneonta. Water color & pressure may be affected during the flushing period, which will run for 2 weeks starting today.

Governor Cuomo launched the Common Core Task Force from a group of education officials, teachers, parents, and state representatives, to review & recommend the overhaul the Common Core system. The

Emergency Crews from Unadilla responded this morning to a 1-vehicle rollover accident. The accident occurred East of exit 11 in the eastbound lane of I-88, officials said that it was only a property damage accident, with no injuries reported. Traffic was slowed through the area for the clean up & investigation.

Oneonta Police responded to the Town House Motor Inn Monday following the report of a disturbance. Police said that an infant suffered serious injuries, they arrested 29-year-old Heather Wright of Oneonta for 2nd degree assault, & endangering the welfare of a child, as the baby suffered injuries between Wright & 1 other person, Wright was being held pending arraignment in the City of Oneonta Court.

The Delaware County Department of Economic Development will hold 3 public meetings to discuss the proposed “Bed Tax” for Delaware County in the lodging and accommodating businesses. The public meetings will be held in Delhi on October 5th, Margaretville on October 7th and Hancock on October 7th at 6:00 PM in each town hall. State Police arrested 36-year-old Rose Gibson of Herkimer for 2nd degree burglary & false personation. The arrest occurred after troopers responded to a report of a suspicious woman inside a home on Lake Street in the Town of Cooperstown; Gibson is accused of entering the unoccupied home without permission, consuming an alcoholic drink then sleeping on the sofa. After being discovered by a worker she then walked away, when troopers located her, she gave a false name and date of birth. Gibson was arraigned and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
