Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 20th, to a 2 car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sidney, in which one driver had reportedly left the scene. With the assistance of the Village of Sidney Police Department, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Joshua Crisell of Sidney, and the vehicle was located at a residence in Sidney. Deputies charged Crisell with Reckless Driving, driving to left of pavement markings, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Crisell was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Sidney Town Court at a later date.

The Concert will feature many local musicians & the show is scheduled from 12:00 noon to 7:00pm. State Police are investigating multiple burglaries at seasonal residences in Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties. 23 year old Christopher Youngs of the town of Maryland and 27 year old John Clark of Morris have been charged with 2nd degree Burglary and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property for burglaries in Otsego and Delaware counties. Youngs was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond. Clark was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing; anyone with information should contact State Police at Troop C in Sidney at 561-7400.

State Police arrested 33 year old Johnny Rivera of South Glens Falls for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, following an accident on Delaware County Road 4 in the Town of Sidney. A trooper found an unoccupied Rent-A-Center Van that crashed into the guide rail, which had been reported stolen from Glens Falls, Rivera was walking away from the scene, he was taken to Tri-Town Hospital for the treatment of injuries then he was arraigned in Sidney Town Court & was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to reappear on July 22nd.
Sidney Police Department arrested 66 year old Paul Ferron of Sidney for Aggravated unlicensed operation in the 1st degree, Aggravated DWI with a BAC .18 or greater, Driving while intoxicated, and several tickets for traffic infractions following a recent traffic stop. Ferron was released on appearance tickets to appear in Village of Sidney Court at a later date.

Governor Cuomo announced $357 million in funding for the renewal of 135 paving projects throughout the State. Locally $42.4 million will go for rehabilitating I-88 from exit 17 Colliersville/Cooperstown Junction to exit 18 Schenevus in Otsego County, $3.2 million will be used to resurface Route 8 from the Village of Sidney Line to south of the intersection of Routes 37 and 51 in Mount Upton & $4.5 million to resurface Route 206 from Route 27 in the Hamlet of Trout Creek to the Village of Walton Line.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an accident on Elk Creek Road in the Town of Meredith Sunday afternoon, resulting in tickets for 26 year old Brandon Bathrick of Oneonta. Deputies ticketed Bathrick for unlicensed operation of motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle, after he struck a tree limb in the roadway. Bathrick’s driver’s license was suspended as a result of his failure to pay outstanding vehicle and traffic fines in the Town of Milford, Town of Oneonta and City of Oneonta Courts, he was released & will appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date.

Sidney Central School Alumni Association announced the cancellation of the All Class Reunion scheduled for July 17th through the 19th in Sidney. The Association Board of Directors will meet later this month to assess whether they may be able to hold the event later this year, possibly in early October.
The Sidney Central School District is continuing with the Wednesday Bulk food deliveries today to families of District students who have signed up. The district requests that families receiving a bulk food delivery should leave a cooler or container that can keep food cool at your door. We will put the food inside of the container at delivery. injured. The deceased suspect has been
identified as 23 year old Matthew All, of Sharon Springs, on Tuesday, state
troopers attempted to stop All for allegedly threatening someone with a knife, he
took off & police pursued him, until he apparently crashed head on into the
parked deputy’s vehicle near routes 20 & 80 in the town of Springfield. The
unidentified Deputy was transported to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, with
serious but non-life threatening injuries, he was coherent at the scene. All
was pronounced dead at the scene by Otsego County Coroner Michael Fox. The investigation is on-going.

The Bainbridge Town Hall Theatre & Gallery Presents "The Christmas Spectacular" Saturday, featuring the Sidney Community Band performing seasonal music, the Out of the Woodwork Players performing the skit, and an appearance by Santa Claus. The show is a benefit for the Bainbridge and Sidney Food Pantries, starting at 2:00 PM with Free Admission, but food or cash donations will be accepted for the pantries.
The Village of Afton has scheduled their Christmas parade & festivities for tomorrow. Due to the current Bridge Construction, a New Parade Line up Location has been announced, on Court Street by the Afton Central School Athletic Fields, and the parking lot behind the Afton bus garage. The parade will go along State Route 41 & go along Main Street, participants are asked to arrive no later than 4:15pm. Also, live music is scheduled from Frankie Cepero starting at 4:00 pm in front of the NBT Bank, there will be refreshments provided by the Greater Afton Chamber of Commerce in the VFW.

The 23rd Annual "Original" Grand Finale Cruise In will be held on Sunday October 7th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This year, the Cruise in will move across the street from the Sidney Airport to the Sidney Industrial Park at Winkler Road. The American Red Cross urges blood donors to give in the final weeks of summer to help overcome a critical summer blood shortage. Donors of all blood types are urgently needed, A blood drive will be held today in Norwich from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Norwich VFW Post 2782, 61-63 East Main Street. . The Delaware County Local Development Corporation closed on 2 loans totaling $118,000. The loans were made to Natural Gardens LLC and the Andrew Hinkley Insurance Agency, which together anticipate creating approximately 22 new jobs in Delaware County over a 2-year period. Natural Gardens will turn 80 acres of land into a teaching farm & event center for parties, weddings and corporate events, which will be complete with a microbrewery. Governor Cuomo announced the approval of $5.9 million to support economic development projects throughout the state. Local projects assisted include the MARK Project of Delaware County for $250,000. Also the Delaware County IDA & the Amphenol Corporation of Sidney will use a grant of up to $750,000 for a portion of the cost to construct a natural gas distribution line from the Constitution Pipeline to Amphenol’s existing facility at 40-60 Delaware Avenue, as well as the new manufacturing facility to be being constructed at 171 Delaware Avenue, which will help retain 950 jobs.

Governor Cuomo announced that in honor of Veterans day today, he signed legislation to ensure that the flags lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol in honor of a fallen soldier are presented to the loved ones of the deceased. The Governor also signed a new law to designate State Route 23 in the Town of Davenport as the ”Davenport Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway, to memorialize the recently deceased members of the VFW Post #487 who served in Korea and World War 2. Another new law will designate a portion of State Route 97 in the Town of Hancock as the “Hancock Veterans Memorial Highway” as that Town lost 2 service men in the Iraq War, as well as in previous wars and conflicts.
State Police in Sidney arrested 46-year-old MARK CRAWFORD of Guilford for Criminal Sexual Act, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrests were made following an investigation conducted by the State Police and Chenango County Child Protective Services into allegations that Crawford was having sexual contact with a person less than 11 years old. Crawford was arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $20,000 bail. The Investigation is continuing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the New York State Police at 561-7400.
