The Robert Mason Recreation Center Ice Skating Rink in Norwich will be opening, hours will be from 4:00 to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Ice skating and skate rentals are free of charge.

State ethics regulators have asked State Attorney General Letitia James to investigate who may have illegally leaked information about a closed-door vote to Governor Cuomo’s office in 2019. The Joint Commission on Public Ethics, or JCOPE, voted to refer the matter to Attorney General James for a criminal investigation, if she accepts the referral, they would attempt to figure out who provided Cuomo's office with legally protected information from the ethics panel regarding a complaint against Cuomo's former top aide, Joseph Percoco.
The “Share The Bounty” program will return in Sidney, after the program was forced to shut down due to the COVID 19 pandemic last year, Spokesperson Kate Porter explains:

The first "Share The Bounty" Dinner will be on Thursday September 23rd, at the Sacred Heart Church Parish Center on Liberty Street in Sidney.
An American Red Cross Blood drive will be held at the Sidney Fire department Training center on River Street today from 11:00 to 4:00 PM. A Blood drive is also being held today at the Elm Park Methodist Church on Chestnut Street in Oneonta from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and a blood drive is also being held in Norwich today at the Broad Street Methodist Church from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Registration is available at redcrossblood.org.
The 6th annual Binghamton Porchfest takes place Sunday, from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 PM, featuring performances from 164 local and regional bands, staged on 58 residential front porches, yards, and in the neighborhood surrounding Recreation Park. A.M. NEWS FRIDAY 4-30-21

State Troopers & local fire Departments responded to a bus fire in the northbound lanes on I-81 Thursday.  42 people were on the bus, 4 were injured; 1 person transported to Wilson Hospital for burns, 2 were taken to Binghamton General for smoke inhalation and 1 person was treated at scene.  Both northbound lanes were shut down for several hours just north of exit 7 Castle Creek, the highway was fully re-opened at about 6:20 PM.
The Village of Sidney’s annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony will be held this afternoon at 1:00PM at Keith Clark Park. A Sugar Maple tree will be planted, the Sidney Shade Tree Commission has conducted the Arbor Day tree planting tradition since 1994 & Sidney has been designated as a “Tree City USA” community for 24 years.

Governor Cuomo today announced the New York State Public Service Commission's approval of New York’s Clean Energy Standard, To fight climate change, reduce harmful air pollution, and ensure a diverse and reliable energy supply. The Clean Energy Standard will require 50% of New York's electricity to come from renewable energy sources like wind and solar by 2030, with an aggressive phase in schedule over the next several years. The Clean Energy Standard will Significantly reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and prevent backsliding on progress made to date by maintaining the operations of carbon-free nuclear power plants as the state transitions to a 50 percent renewable requirement; and,
The Oneonta Parks & Recreation Committee will hold their next regular meeting today. The meeting will be held in the common council chambers at city hall beginning at 7:00 PM.
The Sidney Village Board will have a special meeting tonight at 7:00 PM, to discuss Village Court Personel. The board will meet in executive session.

The Village of Sidney will hold their 23rd annual Sidney Arbor Day program on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 AM at Bill Ray field, behind the Moose Lodge off East Main Street. This year’s Arbor Day award will be in memory of Bill Ray; a Crimson King will be planted at the Bill Ray field in memory of Bill’s years of service and dedication to the Sidney Recreation Commission and the community.
