SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced that intercollegiate athletic competition within SUNY will resume March 20th.  The approval is based upon a detailed collaborative plan that was developed by more than 50 athletic administrators, coaches and sports information directors and meets guidance provided by SUNY, the NCAA, and state and local departments of health. CWA Union Members at Acco Brands in Sidney approved of their latest contract proposal Tuesday.  Union officials said that 187 approved of the contract while 49 opposed.

The State Department of Health informed Delaware County Public Health that the U.K. variant of COVID-19 has been identified in 1 case in Delaware County. There is currently no evidence that this strain is more dangerous. It just spreads more easily.   The County had 8 more positive tests out of 170 tested, there are 114 active cases, 24 hospitalized & 211 Quarantined, and there have been 41 deaths.

Local government sales tax collections statewide were down 5.9% in January compared to 2020 according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.  Collections totaled $1.5 billion, down $95 million from January 2020.  The decline was less than the 8.4 percent drop in December and the double-digit declines in the earlier months of the pandemic in April may & June of 2020.
The Sidney Central School District reported that two 10th grade and one 11th grade student have tested positive for COVID-19. The last time the students were on campus were 1/18 & 2/11.  The Delaware County Health Department has conducted an investigation and the contact tracing has been completed. There will be no change to the instructional model at this time.
