Governor Cuomo announced Thursday's COVID 19 numbers across the state; they conducted 131,993 tests with 1,194 positives.  Hospitalizations increased again to 779 people, the number of ICU patients went down slightly to 168, and the number of Patients on Ventilators went up by 11 to 78.  There were 6 deaths Thursday; the state death toll is 25,561.
The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce announced that their Citizen of the Year award winner this year is Roy Nabinger, their Business of the Year is My Home Gym, The Business of Distinction award goes to John's Garage and the Service Organization of the Year is The Bainbridge Lion's Club.  The Commitment to Community Annual dinner to honor the award winners will be held at Club 55 in Sidney on October 24th at 6:00 PM.
Local Boy Scout Troop 9934 is having a drive through recruitment night tonight in Sidney.  The event will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Keith Clark Park.

Delaware County Public Health reported no new cases of COVID 19 Thursday, with 6 active cases all recovering at home, and 101 are in quarantine.  The county has had 129 total cases since the spring, with 8 deaths & 115 recoveries.

will be held again on Saturday, with Boy & Girls Scouts from all over
coming to the region to compete, followed by the Sprint races on Sunday, and
the Pro 70 miles races on Monday Memorial Day.

1 person is dead and an Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy was
injured after a pursuit in the village of Richfield Springs and the town of
Springfield Tuesday Afternoon.  State
Police approached a subject in a vehicle who had been accused of threatening a
victim with a knife, the suspect fled from troopers and a pursuit ensued
traveling east on State Route 20.  As the
subject approached the intersection of State Routes 20 and 80, an Otsego County
Sheriff’s Deputy was stationary in his vehicle, monitoring the pursuit with his
emergency lights activated; the suspect crossed into oncoming traffic and
struck the Deputy head-on.  The Deputy
was transported to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY with serious but
non-life threating injuries, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by
Otsego County Corner Michael Fox.  The
investigation is on-going.
All area School District budgets were passed by voters
Tuesday in the tri-county region.
Capital projects passed in Afton, Sidney and Unatego.
The State Police will hold their Annual Memorial Day
Ceremony today at 11:00 AM at Troop C headquarters in Sidney.  The event is held each year to remember those
who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Sidney Village Officials announced that Main Street, between Smith Street & Cartwright Avenue would be closed tomorrow to traffic, between the hours of 8:00 AM & 4:00 PM. Crews will be digging trenches in that area for new electric service, as part of the Main Street Revitalization Program. All Main Street businesses will be open their normal Hours Thursday & will be accessible for customers.
Sidney Boy Scout Troop 99 is holding a Fall Sign Up night tonight from 6:30 to 8:00PM. The session will be held at the 1st Congregational Church at Main & Bridge Streets, boys at age 11 & up through high school, & their families, are welcome to attend.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators announced the arrest of a former Town of Sidney, 43 year old Evan Oliver of Leesburg, Florida, at the Lake County Jail, where he has been held as a Fugitive from Justice since February 17th. Oliver was transported back to Delaware County on May 4th for arraignment, after a Delaware County Grand Jury handed down a Sealed Indictment charging Oliver on 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, 3 counts of Conspiracy & 1 count of Criminal Sale of Marihuana.
The Village of Sidney & Albert Torto Construction announced that work on the Main Street Revitalization project will be gin on Thursday at 7:30 AM. No Parking signs will be placed in the affected areas, some changes in traffic flow may occur, with patterns restored daily at the conclusion of that day’s work at 4:00 PM. Work will begin near the Library & will work down to the Railroad tracks, various phases of construction will continue, likely through the month of December.
The State Division of Veteran's Affairs closed their Sidney office at the Sidney Civic Center Building recently, following the recent sale of the Civic Center to 2+4 Developers, who are turning some of the building into Senior Housing. Assemblyman Cliff Crouch comments:

Crouch said that he & State Senator Seward are working on the issue to bring those services back to, or closer to Sidney. Other area offices are in Oneonta, Delhi & Cooperstown.
Sidney Boy Scout Troop 99 will be holding their Spring Sign Up night tonight, at the 1st Congregational Church at Main & Bridge Street. All boys ages 11 to 17 are welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin at 7:00 PM. More information is available at 316-2853.
