A recent report by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli examined healthcare professional shortages in 16 rural counties in New York state, including Chenango & Delaware Counties locally, and found shortfalls in primary care, pediatric, and obstetrician and OBGYN doctors, Chenango Memorial Hospital's new President & CEO Cecil Miller told WCDO News how they will try to correct that:

Broome County Department of Civil Service has announced the latest round of Training & Experience Exams for those interested in careers as Corrections Officers. The Deadline to sign up for the exam is August 28 and the exam period will take place between September 1st & September 30th, for more information or to obtain an application, go to broomecountyny.gov.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced that his office has obtained an order dissolving Angel’s Gate animal hospice and rehabilitation charity & directing that the charity’s real property be sold with the proceeds to be paid to another charity whose mission is the protection and care of animals. Acting Supreme Court Justice John Lambert ordered the appointment of a receiver to sell the property held in the names of Angel’s Gate, Inc. and Susan Marino in the Town of Meredith. Schneiderman’s Office previously brought a proceeding against Angel’s Gate and Marino to dissolve the corporation because they had failed to file legally required financial reports related to the handling of their charitable funds. Marino and Angel’s Gate had raised over $3.1 million from donations; Marino mismanaged the funds while continuing to live on the property as her primary residence, without any oversight by an inactive Board of Directors.
